  • Here's another of the quad receivers I have, I have 2 of these. I like this series over the QRX-7,8 & 9001 because IMO, their better. The sound is about the same and with good speakers the power is comparable, I know some disagree. I look at it this way, the receiver is in your home/Apt and you have the speakers to back up the power but really, just how loud can you turn it up before you go deaf. The problem with the 7001, 8001 & 9001 is connections, you have too few, one quad tape and one quad aux, big deal, my sound card has more then that, (and my car stereo) I can hook up two tape decks (play&rec) with this and also two quad playback units like quad 8 track players. I can also hook up my quad turntable, that's a heck of lot more then the others for less then half the cost and good power, after all, I'm not trying to shatter windows and I can crank this and still hear it 2 blocks away with the windows open in my home, anyways, enough of that, you don't need 50000 watts in a house/apt, that's my point.

where is the left channel needle in the VU meter ? it is not there or is not moving ??? . I have 2 of these . one is from the trash , and the other was left in a hall way . I do not use them , but they are quite nice to look at .

it appears that the front lamp in the front left VU meter is burnt out along with the rear lamp in the tuning meter.

    Hi,
Like your video, but it is a SANSUI!!! It is NOT a Sony. I do like your video though, it is informative and you do a good job. Your commentary is good and you at least made it very interesting. Thanks and VERY NICE receiver. Congrats on the find!

30w @ 8ohms but 22w in the full 20hz - 20khz range. I'm not sure how they did their tests but I do know IT'S LOUD. If you have some hi-watt speakers it's rattle windows.

+episode 666 no one Many say it(the best vintage Quad) is either a Sansui QRX-9001 which has the latest quad separator circuits or a Marantz 4400 Quadaphonic stereo - and i would have to agree! I would like to someday get a Sansui QRX-9001!

Sansui! I built mine in 1972. Started with a 2 channel so added a Sansui rear amp for 4 channel. Others had Pioneer but Sansui is my favorite!

I have a Kenwood KR-9940 and just from what I can see in the video, it looks like the Kenwood and Sansui shared a lot of parts. The VU meters and especially the dial indicator and faceplate with the FM light etc.. on top of the tuning scale. Same colors too.

LOL geez, I was hoping folks wouldn't catch that. Your right, I think I had my head screwed on sideways a bit here when I said Sony, I knew better. I have all kinds of quad equipment I'm selling so somehow I blurted out the wrong name and I didn't even catch it till I posted the video...dahhhh...I feel like an idiot. I guess I make mistakes like everyone else, good catch though "iamtheman".

I forgave you immediately. :) This is one that I still miss. Had this one and a QX949 Pioneer. The Sansui sounded better. But more than either of them I loved my little 37wpc Pioneer SX727 which I also sold. I've still got a single Marantz 2235B that is my favorite and it'll get passed on when I'm gone. :)

I've got 1 of these i inherited from my dad who got it in the 70's in Hong Kong while in the Navy. paired up with 4 sansui speakers and a Technics SL-1300 turntable. i love it. He's got an identical setup to the one he gave me except with kenwood speakers because his twin brother took the first setup he sent home when he moved out.

Hey the manual says your supposed to adjust the level set so that no needles go into the red!! I have a QRX-7500 & hope to get a QRX-9001(top of the line) someday.

Guilty as charged LOL. I started working/building with electronics when I was like 8 or 9 years old and when Quad hit the market, it was instant love for me. I still stay up to date on the new stuff (and even own a few pieces) but my heart is in quad.
