  • I remembered that I had made some simple wooden tongs nearly 40 years ago and thought that it might interest you. In this video I show you how easy they are to make.

Hi Peter We have a couple of similar tongs which were sold many years ago for extracting slices of toast from a toaster. Very useful and, if you do it while the toaster is on, safer than metal tongs.

The piece of wood you cut the wedge from has a matching angle you can use for clamping the pieces together.

Yes, I did do this with my trial one but mislaid the offcut when doing the second. Cheers. Peter

    Really beautiful work, Peter! 😃
I definitely need to make some of those as well! I almost burned my hand trying to turn some pork ribs I was baking earlier today. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Hey Peter, we are celebrating Christmas in July here in the colonies. That’s for sharing and excellent little item I can knock out for my family members that have their own homes. Cheers and Merry Christmas

Hi Peter, hope your well, some thing so simple but so effective and there is nothing better than some thing to turn your sausages or pick your bacon up, a good kitchen utensil that can be made in the workshop. As always a great video Take care

Why not just cut a 3 degree small wedge off that 3foot length!??

Hi Tony, Because the grain will run the wrong way making the tongs weak in the middle. Peter

Surprised no mention is made of which woods are/aren’t food safe nor the importance of food safe adhesives.
