Then back in the 60s it wasn't just a MINI, it was known as "THE FABULOUS MINI!". Minis are the best British Icon ever! The British engineering is the best ever!!!
Does anyone know if this film was played on the British TV channel/channals before the official program started to for the day?,( I think it was broadcast to let technicians adjust the pictures/sound on televisions they were servicing). Anyone remember this as true?.
You can thank Leonard Lord for that. Losing £20 per Mini was an extremely bad business decision that can only realistically be seen as self sabotage, for what reason I have no idea. If they had sold the Mini for £1,380 instead of £1,340 BMC would probably still be a thing.
Superb footage. The joy of the roar from a naturally aspirated engine and those fast double de-clutching gear changes…
great old film footage. the narration is classic.
This is so much cooler then the current Monte Carlo rally
Fabuleux document !! Merci. Une autre époque....
Nice Monte Carlo Morning Carlo great old video
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. This is what I call rallying. Production automobiles tuned and raced. Very very cool.

Those mountain roads...the black ice must have been a terror as those old cars fish-tailed all over the place.

I think you meant the Road to Eldorado. haha. Great video by the way.
Those were the days when we had our own industry owned by British corporations.

Also, using "Unions to fight unions" was an extremely foolish strategy

I guess the French ruined this competition when they decided to cheat in 1966.
