I have the Starscream and couldn't be happier, wayyyy better than the Takara. I am excited to get this one and Thundercracker too. Great review!
Maketoys knocked these guys out of the park. I love their Starscream and am getting Skywarp and Thundercracker for sure. Looking forward to the 5 minutes or less of Thundercracker. Solid review, Bobby!

Got mine in today from TCP. Aside from a couple of sprue marks on his forearms, he's a very nice piece. I like it.
long live maketoys, i agree about the stock face looking a bit off which is then fixed by the extra two faces that come with the figure. i can't wait for you to get your hands on their new cross dimension stuff when it drops.
I'm all-in on these. Looking forward to coneheads and I've already got Skycrow, Lightning and Meteor.
All my criticisms of Meteor are still true - floppy fins in jet mode, no chest missiles, can't angle the shoulder vanes - but I'm very happy with all three.
I like to leave the wing spears pointed down on mine.
I find the choice of bluey-grey paint over silver in Lightning frustrating and I would say the tolerances on all three of mine are noticeably different so I wonder how many more uses their moulds will take.
Can't wait to get Skywarp & Thundercrcacker in hand. Maketoys been killing it with this guys. If they do do the Rainmakers, hopefully we get some different designs than the Takara/Hasbro ones.

Just wanted to agree with you about this figure - he completely shoots down the takara versions i have of starscream and thundercracker - and cheaper as well. Winner winner (chicken dinner). Still keep what i have of takara - but will get a cone head to see how they measure up. Keep up the stellar work - you're my go to reviewer. Cheers from the UK!
Don't you dare stop saying feet in that deep voice. I still to this day don't know why but it makes me smile lol. I think it's just the randomness which I highly appreciate
Excellent review! Sold all Takara MP Seekers including Coneheads operation Seeker upgrade 1/2 way compmete! Absolutley a no brainer. Round two commencing very happy with MT Conehead reveals.
Are the top hinges on your double-hinge knees super tight? I can turn it one click, but I feel like it should be able to do more. Otherwise, great review.

My seekers are on the way, but now I have to decide to drop my TW coneheads or keep them with the maketoys coming out.
That opening made me laugh much more than I should have.
Explore, explore, repair, repair! Teletran got a lot more elequent once he got over that initial groggy phase. I suppose 4 million years will do that even to the best computer.

I have the same lose pelvis issue on my Starscream. This is the only thing I don't like with that mold
Wow. These guys look funner to transform than the Takara versions. Plus the articulation is better.
For me, the Hasbro/Takara versions look like they're wearing neck braces...
David Marlin I have the starscream version, it is so much better. Even with the flaws (Waffle wings)
classicscuzz i have all 6 Takara seekers and my only beef is Starscream and his waist that slides easily. The other 5 are nice. I like how the feet, o wait, THE FEET are with maketoys.
It would be great if someone could mod-up some display stands for these Maketoys Seekers like the masterpiece Seekers.

I understand everyone's excitement over these but I'm already in for a lot with hasbro and takara versions of the big three,takara coneheads and yes model versions of coronation starscream, thundercracker and skywarp(these are the best of the bunch and as much as I'm against bootlegs, I couldn't buy another official set of these guys hoping they aren't plagued with the problems the ones I already bought are because that's insane. It's inherent to their design/build quality) I won't argue with anyone over which are better, on paper I would have to concede to just about every objective point thrown at me but I just really dig/prefer the yesmodel/takara versions "dated" aesthetic, especially starscream in his coronation gear with all the detail/panel lining. I could easily get sucked into any company's seeker game because I'm a sucker for transforming jets so maybe maketoys will catch me slipping one day and get all my money but I'd like to see another company with a slightly more sophisticated touch to the design. I'm not really about being 100 percent toon accurate. I'm more about that mp soundwave perfect balance.
Would love to support eastcoast toys.. but they only sell/ship stateside! Super bummer.. love the review bob, glad yours doesnt have an acid bath face like mine.. my gripes aside I still love the figure
Well, I'm glad they included purple hands. I didn't want Skywarp wearing gloves. I'm not sure why they were black to begin with. Maybe it was some kind of factory error or miscommunication. (This is speculation from someone who knows next to nothing about the production process.)
Good review. I'm annoyed because I have purchased the seekers from Takara Tomy TWICE now and this figure comes along and looks Great! Minus the face, as it seems to be sunken into the head to me and that is what looks off IMHO. I have that Seeker Disease of I can't buy just one, I have to have them ALL, Meaning Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Sunstorm, Acidstorm, Ghost Starscream,...and they must be uniform, at least the main 3 do, but I don't have cash just sitting around though to purchase something that I already have an official representation of. I applaud them for taking this risk and also despise them for it at the same time .....Looks like Maketoys did with the Seekers what Badcube did with the Autobot Lambos? Not sure if I should get these and keep my official ones or Sell them and get these, or skip them altogether. Cartoon accuracy isn't THAT important to me, but I will say that these look really good.......#1stworldproblems....lolz

These look good, and like you Bobby I own all the seekers (SW & TC in Toon colors, SS as the $60 TRU version). I think the Maketoys release looks better than TakTomy because it captures that toon aesthetic almost perfectly. The Takara looks over detailed and feels dated especially when it comes to articulation. I'll take bets on these characters getting a mold refresh similar to MP Prime v3
If I ever drop out of doing Gundams, Im gonna go broke catching up on MP/style Transformers.
I was on a similar path. MG after MG then I got bored. Now I'm 3rd party TF's.
Some day i may find myself there. although it hasnt stopped me buying TFs, just slowed me down lol.
This is one of those situations that really just honks my hooter! I already put out so much money to get the dang Takara seekers, and these guys come along and really make the Takaras look a little less tasteful. Of course being the moron that I am, I still have to get these guys. Oh well...what do ya do..thanks for the video Bobby!! Like those Fheeeeeet!! Lol
Danny Vestal That’s okay. I was in the same boat. Takara seemed to reluctantly release those revised versions of Skywarp and Thundercracker after MP-11. These by MakeToys are superior.
Seriously though, Skullface, please explain sometime that joke. I’ve seen nearly every video since subscribing 2, 3 years ago and I don’t recall it’s origins. And not knowing BOTHERS me.

My Howling Meteor is good, but the floppy tail fins are annoying. Wish they clicked into place.
Everywhere I go in 3p reviews, I see: “I’ll wait for Fanstoys to make their’s.” Yes, Fanstoys has made some incredible figures. But they aren’t perfect. Sovereign and Iron Dibots aside, almost all of their other figures have a nightmare transformation. E.g: Koot, Apache, and Rouge. Lupus had his fair share of problems. Phoenix had no paint, aside from red. Terminus Giganticus was good; Gabriel did better and costs less. I love Fanstoys, don’t get me wrong. Just don’t look to them yo solve all of your problems. Also keep in mind that they rarely do a figure someone else has already done.

I have the Starscream because, it's Starscream, and he is excellent. But I just can't with the rest of the seekers. Not unless I get into kit bashing/re-painting.
That takara Version looks like they put way too much detail into it. Artists need to know when to stop rendering a piece and it looks to me like it has too much going on when placed next to your Maketoys version. Some people like all the detail but and as a stand alone figure where people can get close to it that would work😊 but if it's standing in a diorama with other figures or on a shelf at a distance it's kind of waste. Thumbs up on another great review😎
Bobby can you talk on a sitdown Saturday about how third party companies are starting to take on some things hasbro does like how mmc does way more repaints then they used to and how companies are starting to get hollow bits it’s been kinda bugging me lately I don’t want third party companies to stop being high quality figures if they keep on going down this rabbit hole

I've been on the fence for a while about getting this and their Thundercracker. I've dropped a lot of dough on the Takara ones already. Plus, who knows if some other company will come out with even more toon accurate seekers down the road. Eventually it comes to a point where you have to ask yourself if it's worth throwing a boatload of money down the drain to keep on replacing figures you already own with ones that look better for now. Super 7 did collectors dirty by first releasing good looking, solid Heman figures. But a year or two ago they say, "Guess what? You know all of those figures you bought from us 5 years ago? Now, we're going to make them all over again, but this time they're screen accurate!" So now people are having to shell out all of that money again for better representations of their favorite Heman characters. It's disappointing companies don't get it right the first time so we're not mentally forced to keep on wanting to buy improved looking figures every couple of years. Case in point Masterpiece Prime 3.0. I would about bet the farm that 5 or 6 years from now Prime 4.0 will come out and most people will say, "Prime 3.0 sure looks like garbage compared to 4.0 Better spend another $300 to get him" It almost makes me wish I never started collecting Masterpiece figures in the first place.

Alt mode is so much cleaner on the Takara and Hasbro ones.
Why can’t anyone get the face sculpt right on these guys? Every single one - regardless of manufacturer is off in some way. The head sculpt is so important to get right.
Eyes are too wide apart. Those forearm gaps, WTF? I would have thought they would have fixed that after Starscream.

The heads on rhese are a bit ... disproportionate . The "helmet" is too thick , while the face is too small .

I hope you keep saying the "Feeeeeeeet!" thing. Some people and their "triggers" haha! They are making (which I'm sure you most likely already know) Solarstorm (their Sunstorm), and Corrosion (their Acid Storm). Although if I'm correct, Sunstorm wasn't actually a Rain Maker? Fantastic video as always and I'm expecting my copy to show up sometime today. Thanks for sharing.

Funny thing why want everybody cartoon accuracy? I mean I understand 3p and Has/tak willing to do that... it cheapens out paint details... and here and there molded details. So all models are going to look 'cheap' how engineered they are... or even painted.
I look at my G1 Toy collection and it shines in different colors and details ... all that is lacking in the current line of MP size toys. And they are big.... so the lack of paint is noticeable. The Seekers details in paint applications: Foot, Kneecaps, Engine intakes is certainly missing for me. Not just Maketoys but through the whole. It just would be awesome if Maketoys would stand out.
Everybody wants cartoon articulation because they grew up with the cartoon.

I still think this guy is a mess with tiny arms/hands, a floppy diaper pelvis, bad feet and a too plain toon look. More than likely these things will be forgotten when fanstoys or another company inevitably destroys them with their own seekers.
Alex B these figures have already run its course by the time Fanstoys releases their seekers, Maketoys would've already made a profit by then.
You're absolutely right about that, that's why i edited in "another company" after the fact lol. These guys just ain't doing it for me, they're like today's takara mold
I am just not loving these seekers. They are too cartoon accurate. He looks like someone took a sandblaster to Skywarp. Everything is so smooth and visually boring.

botG1head Never could, never will. Personally, I quite enjoy Meteor, though these guys could use better heels. The seeker design is inherently back-heavy because of the wings on their back.
Of course, with a v3 Optimus Prime in the works, it wouldn't surprise me if Takara takes a crack at a v3 Starscream and the other Seekers. Perhaps they'll do it from scratch this time. Still won't satisfy everyone.

I'll take these minor issues over the total mess that is the MP Seeker mold.
can't get pass that face mac. both figures are an easy pass.
