Im so glad I saw this, I have 490 and I felt like I dont have enough but I’m pretty satisfied with them, wouldnt change a thing, this is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life
I had 600 sisterlocks and hated it. I restarted my hair (with micro locs not sisterlocks) and I have 396 locs and I love it and my hair is really thick so my hair still has a ton of body. I can retighten my hair and not take two weeks to finish anymore
Thank you. I just counted mine and was discouraged by the number. I am at about 400-410 I have really thick hair and thought I should have more but like you said it depends on the amount of strands in an square inch and texture etc. Thank you for taking the time!
I have right over 400 and thought I didn't have enough! My coworker edges look different so I was wondering but I have the wisdom peak which makes sense why her parts around hairline look full. Thanks 😊
I have 546 locs because of low density and it makes it appear fuller it’s been almost 7 years for me it only takes my loctition a little less than 3 hours to retighten my hair is
I have pretty dense have and have right at 500...I was actually thinking about splitting some of the larger locks but now that I'm thinking about it..nah lol...I'll stick with what I have
Great response! I so wish your answer was displayed at every shop! Seriously, I now notice there are many variables. I have witnessed someone who had very comparable parting as me, but their locks were much smaller and the hair was very light and airy. It worked for them, but clearly the density was not there. By the way I have 462 and my consultants told me (day one) that micros would make me look like a lion because of my thickness.
I have dense hair and a big head lol. I have 600 locs and my consultant takes a little under 3 hrs to retighten. I love my size and hope they don't get too much bigger but I'm only 3 months.
I love the fact that your locs look so "polished" and healthy. I have seen others whose locs tend to look "dusty" or the ends are "fuzzy". Not all but some definitely do. What "product" or wash routine do you use to keep yours looking "fresh"?

lots of good info. wish more got this when talking about "standard" sisterlocks.
Thank you for all of your videos! I will start my sisterloc journey on June 2nd and 3rd, and I am SO EXCITED!! I've been wanting them for years, but felt like I needed more research and more information. I had my consultation and have my trial locs and I love them. Your videos are going to be my roadmap! Thanks again. Adrienne
Hi p.r! Could you give your opinion on removing lint with a waterflosser? Quotidianlight on youtube did a video on how to remove build up and lint with a waterflosser. She has freeform locs. Hope you are well! I love your videos xxx
Shafreakaa Very informative video and a great way to clean the center of traditionally rolled locks. In traditionally palmed rolled or rolled locks, because of how they are formed a center cavity is created with the potential for product buildup since a product is used to help form them. In latched locks (really its backwards braiding from ends of hair back up towards roots) doesn't form a potential tubular cavity with the lock. That's why lint or product can collect in the center like a plug, a short or long plug, in traditional rolled locks. In latched locks the lint gets trapped in-between the stitch of the braid. So I wouldn't use it on latched locks And our locks are super fine compared to hers or the average traditional. Her locks are so much thicker and stronger for that application and it works perfectly for her. On thin locks the force of the water might be too strong for the size of the lock. If the water flosser was applied to a sisterlock it has the potential to cause a gaping hole. The water wouldn't flush the lint down the center of SL. Different lock structure. I it found still to be a beautiful way to power wash the center of her locks. It works for her and rightly so. Thanks for sharing her video I found it amusing she's very charismatic, funny, and informative. I wouldn't use the water flosser like that on my locks however. Sometimes just picking the lint out if it's really embedded weakens my locks. So those are my thoughts on that. Hope this helps. :-)
Thank you so much for your indepth response! The lintproblem is really no joke:( My lint is so bad now that i have to color my hair once its matured.. Again thanks for your response and keep the videos coming. I really enjoy them :) God bless
P. R. Charles hello PR. I saw a video from a loctician who suggested using apple cider vinegar soak to attempt to break down/get rid of the build up. If it is actually lint, she suggested using henna to die it to match your hair color as opposed to picking it out and possibly weakening your loc.
Great questions. Sisterlocks gives a demarcation line of 350 locs or more factoring their grid style, locking patterns, and techniques. Some people have smaller heads, less density etc. Yes you can achieve volume at 350 depending on the size of head and it will still look like sisterlocks. Sisterlocks are but so big. When bigger than a pencil they aren't considered sisterlocks. Less locs does affect pricing. Micros can form locs in the range 650 700s or more (give or take depending on size of head and density.) Larger sized locs can put you at 350 or more again depending on surface area of the head and density. Everyone is different. But I tell you this. You can spot a head full of nicely done sisterlock on the larger or smaller loc'd spectrum. Hope this helps =) Thank you for sharing.
Hey Lydia your consultant can answer that question during a consultation in person. And the answer would be a guestimate (size of head and the consultants skill level with that guestimate and size preference and your preference and what you have to physically work with )
Takeya Mcclain From what I see in your picture, your hair is beautiful. I'm going to a consultant next week, & I think I want to stay around the 200-300 range. I know it's not "correct", but that's what I'm aiming for.
Im so glad I saw this, I have 490 and I felt like I dont have enough but I’m pretty satisfied with them, wouldnt change a thing, this is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life
That's the same way I felt ..like maybe I didn't have enough (I'm at 500) but yeah...I agree with you..I'm good with that now.
I had 600 sisterlocks and hated it. I restarted my hair (with micro locs not sisterlocks) and I have 396 locs and I love it and my hair is really thick so my hair still has a ton of body. I can retighten my hair and not take two weeks to finish anymore
Whew two weeks??? And to think I wanted to add some locks...I already have 500....I think ill just stick to what I have lol
i know Im pretty off topic but do anyone know a good site to watch new movies online ?
@Zain Ayaan flixportal :P
@Lyric Maximilian thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it!
@Zain Ayaan Glad I could help :)

😳 wow it looks like you have 800 plus. Your hair is gorgeous.
I'm so glad you explained this concept. Great info for any types of locs/braids
+Wana86Wana Glad to be of help. :-) Thanks for sharing. :-)
I have right over 400 and thought I didn't have enough! My coworker edges look different so I was wondering but I have the wisdom peak which makes sense why her parts around hairline look full. Thanks 😊
Me too 100% I love that game of thrones look!

I did my own micro locks and I have about 350 locks.

sekoukim thank you! Yes many variables. No one size fits all locks or partings. :-) Thanks for sharing this! :-)

you're such an inspiration to the loc world
Greetings and warm regards from T&T.....I celebrate 3yrs of sisterlocks freedom in April 2019 and still find this very useful. Thanks again

When she brought up my pocketbook, I said “yeaaah, that ain’t for me” 💀💀💀

Helli I'm Chela I've had my locs now for 12 yrs and I'm interested in cutting them and getting sisterlocs please guys any suggestions🤔
This is a perfect tutorial.
I have 340 locks I'm so upset
I feel you! I only have 255 and that's not what I paid for!
Ms Charles this is a great video. Can you tell me how you were able to split your mature locks at the back of your hair? thanks O
Natures Herbs Certain locking techniques uses certain patterns or techniques. Inbox me for further detail :-)
This is such a very good and informative video.
***** thank you! Glad to be of help! :-)
I have 507 or 511, I moved away from my consultant to Montana. I can't find anyone certified to retighten. I am so sad.
A Darice hopefully you found someone or you started to do it yourself
thanks for the talk.
Thank you ❤️😀
Beautiful voice and lips 👄..... love to hear you speak 😄
I have 380 locs so are they not considered sister locs?
Sisterlocs now start from 350 locs. Great question. Thanks for sharing =)
+Lydia I will have to get back to you on that one. Will look into it monday. I was informed the new number.

Oops So yes more or less locs, the sizing can tremendously affect price. =)

I only have 240 i got my done by a professional and I feel cheated sometimes I don't know if I should even call mine sisterlocks 😔
No those aren't sister locs
+Takeya Mcclain WOW those are more like medium to small latched or interlocked locs. I'm sure they are beautiful nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
+Emjaylee thanks for sharing.
Yes I've grown to love them thanks
Takeya Mcclain From what I see in your picture, your hair is beautiful. I'm going to a consultant next week, & I think I want to stay around the 200-300 range. I know it's not "correct", but that's what I'm aiming for.
