When I was a kid (oh so many decades ago...) I ate up Bermuda Triangle mythology. There was even a bad TV series dealing with a family 'lost' in the Bermuda Triangle. I suppose in retrospective, learning about this mythology was my first hint that adults weren't all that bright.

The Fantastic Journey was such a weird programme. I remember watching it back in 1978 and though id just dreamt it for years...
My favorite was the aliens from Ben 10
My uncle Billy Gene Comer was onboard a navy patrol plane over the Bermuda Triangle in November 1956 when it was never found. A freighter had seen an explosion they think may have been the plane but nothing was ever proven and my grandmother got a telegram that only stated he was missing. We never spoke of it but she had a trunk of his things and kept his picture front and center always. He was the oldest of her 7 children and has always been greatly missed. Rest in love Uncle Billy💔 What a timely video. His plane vanished November 9, 1956
The Bermuda Triangle is one of the least convincing paranormal pop culture ever, but it can inspire some pretty fun scifi ideas sometimes.
I've always posed the question to any believers in Bermuda Triangle lore: "If there were in fact a mysterious force that was responsible for shipping losses at a rate far higher than one finds elsewhere throughout the oceans of the world, wouldn't insurance companies like Lloyd's of London either charge far higher premiums for vessels passing through that region, or perhaps refuse to cover them at all?"
The fact is, mishaps, accidents, and losses of aircraft and vessels happen no more often in that area than anywhere else in the world with a similar amount of traffic moving through it. If it were happening (for any reason, explicable or otherwise) the insurance companies would be all over it.
I remember those tv specials about the Bermuda Triangle when I was a kid. I ate up all that stuff about Bigfoot and flying saucers and whatnot. On some level , I still do , but it's mostly for entertainment .
Love how a natural phenomenon inspired myths, but I'm glad we have science to figure what's actually going on. I think it's more fascinating to learn about what's actually happening. Great video!
You just don't hear much about the Bermuda Triangle these days, even though it was all the rage in the 1970s. I remember that show hosted by Leonard Nimoy entitled In Search Of. Even though I saw it in syndication growing up in the 1980s.
It was still talked about a lot in the 90s and 00s, too. I feel like it may have gotten displaced by the whole Mayan Calendar thing and all of the other Ancient Aliens stuff that started getting popular at the time.
I loved in search of, it was responsible for so many childhood fears. They used to show three or four episodes in a row on Sundays and i was glued to the TV.

True! We lost my uncle in the Bermuda Triangle in 1956 in a navy plane💔
Ironically it was a book I read in Elementary School by Charles Berlitz (The Bermuda Triangle) 1974 that got me interested in it. But I found out later issues where pilots could get confused, or disoriented. The issue of the compasses being thrown off in the area I find interesting. It's no more mysterious than the Mary Celeste. Even mundane mysteries are worth looking into.

I still think there could be something about the Bermuda triangle but it's probably a weather phenomenon. The thing that gets me is there's another such area and it's supposedly exactly on the opposite side of the world. If you went straight down through the earth from the truangle there's another one on the opposite side near Japan I believe. If that's true, there's definitely something to it. Where the poles used to be perhaps.

Nah, I still beleave that the squid people of Atlantis are responsible for all of this disappearences.
Unexplained disapearences of ships and planes are unfortunately rather common on the high seas. So if one would put a triangle across a big enough area one could come up with a list of "mysterious" disapearences.
Asia has its own version of the triangle in the pacific ocean called the Devils Triangle

I've heard/read that more ships & planes are lost in the Great Lakes than in the Bermuda Triangle. I didn't know how to check that statement, so never did.
I wildly loved the Atlantis novels by Greg Donnegan, for which the Bermuda Triangle was given an entire novel! I loved every batshit crazy page.
As a person who's lived in South Florida all my life,
The idea that one of the points of the Triangle being Fort Lauderdale/Miami never sat right with me. Even as a kid.
To 6 year old me, I could reach the edge of the Devil's Triangle just by riding in the car with my parents.
And since there's a huge Cruise Ship Harbor in the Miami area, not to mention the heavily populated Fort Lauderdale Airport,
It just never seemed reasonable that these two businesses would put themselves in danger of a scary legend if it was even slightly true.
Also, Bermuda is a sovereign nation. If half of their imports and exports were at risk of regularly disappearing due to some spooky magical boundary, they wouldn't have survived.

There places that are not as well know as the Bermuda Triangle where people disappear under strange circumstances. Of course these days we have things like G.P.S that help. There are reports of strange ha[[ens from people who where passing through the Bermuda Triangle.
I think it makes sense to divide up what you are creating into the channel concept you explained. That way people know what they are getting. Some people, I count myself one, enjoy the eclectic videos that you make. I will subscribe to all your channels, but some people will have the option to subscribe to just one of your channels. I think that this change will also give you more structure on a weekly basis. I know some of your content takes a lot of effort, and those videos are great, but I also enjoy your chattier life videos. I think it would be fun to see how this goes and that would make an interesting update video at some point.
What about the other triangles? There’s one in Alaska, Skinwalker Ranch, one in the Philippines, one of the Great Lakes, and another one in the forest somewhere.
I forgot to mention what about the pilot that flew through the Bermuda triangle, and claimed to see purple lights, and came out on the other side with a different time than the tower

I was low-key disappointed you didn’t mention Amelia Earhart + her plane being “swallowed” by the triangle. As someone born and raised in the area being told those stories I was absolutely terrified as a child that the mysterious sea energies would take me like Amelia Earhart.
I didn’t mention her because her plane went missing over the Pacific Ocean. the Bermuda Triangle is in the North Atlantic.

I seem to remember an article, from five or ten years ago that the wreck of the USS Cyclops had been found, pretty much on course where it might be expected to be.

Why would one of the most heavily traversed regions of open water on the planet have an occasional unexplained disappearance? The only possible answer is aliens or a time vortex.

"Chance to disappear is just like everywhere else..." - such a brilliant idea needs to be explained for our simple rural minds - "everywhere" like "where", for example? Tell us new norm that planes and ships usually geting disappered without a trace near US coast, with no SOS, bodies or pieces ever found? Moreover, such miracle happened not even once and not even twice? What other places with same things happening that brilliant scientist mean?
The website Fastcompany has an infographic, 84 Planes That Have Disappeared.
It shows all missing (disappeared with no trace) large aircraft since 1948, with many clusters much denser than the Bermuda Triangle.
Don't ruin my childhood by debunking my favorite stories. And don't you dare debunk spontaneous human combustion, either! Leave Unsolved Mysteries alone!
