I moved to Barna two months ago and they are very ambition with the project. There are already some Superblocks like out of nowhere. It's amazing how brave and futuristic the city is. Let's hope they will get the cucaracha problem handled as this is actually another thing here.
@@EverythingExplainedd Yes, they do! There are a few squares that are now finished. I remember that they looked totally different in January. Now the street is gone, there are a few trees and some chairs to relax. Eixample is literally now under construction!
I live on that damn grid and it's the most soulless living environment ever. All streets look and feel the same, it always seems like you're in a never-ending grid of cars, noise and insecurity. Green areas are still very low and hard to find in Barcelona, I have to walt 30min to reach one. Superblocks are improving this feeling though, but there's plenty of opposition to it and it will take many years until the city starts feeling like a peaceful and nice place to live. Please do not see Barcelona as an urbanism referent, Cerda's plans were nice but greed and profit ruined it all. Also very nice video man, I enjoyed it a lot.
Man awesome videos... You deserve million subs... Which audio recording software do you use for recording your voice ?? And how did you find stock free videos like these?? P. S. One suggestion Make these videos.. Not those top 10 roller coaster videos.. This is your strength
There are 2 huge problem with superblocks everyone talking about them misses, but you almot touched the most important one at 6:45. There's been no improvement on public transit coming with superblocks. Even more, the majority of cars in barcelona come from the surrounding cities, so what desperately needs to improve is commuter rail, which sucks, it REALLY SUCKS. The second problem is that there's no money to build superblocks, so instead of creating that incredible reality renders show, they just put a bunch of concrete blocks to stop cars and paint the asphalt, and just MAYBE they'll put a playing area for kids. They'll just say this "tactical urbanism" (as they call it) is "temporary", but when it stays there for more than 5 years... I'll start to doubt if it really is temporary. Superblocks aren't bad, they're in fact really good, but only if they're well planned and executed, and if they come with huge inversions on commuter services, park&rides, public transit... and that's sadly not happening here :( Edit: still the video was really good! And it pointed out how to CORRECTLY make superblocks, instead of just praising at how good Barcelona's blocks really are (the idea is, the execution...). I don't know, I just found the way you explained it really clear and the tone really good too. Great job!!!
Wow not improving public transport is rookie error #1 and in your second point, that really doesn’t surprise me. I bet they’ll pay a lot of money to make one mega modern Superblock for a marketing campaign then make the rest like you said! Thanks for the compliments
@@EverythingExplainedd that's exactly what they did! The superblock in the most touristic area is obviously the one that's done right ;) Edit: thanks for taking the time to answer to my comment, really appreciate it!!

Good luck! Seems like a great place to be
This is super high quality! You did a great job in this video, thanks!
Thanks Lukas!

Oh wow so they are getting on with it! Can you tell a noticeable difference?

With plenty of Grid systems in the US, I can definitely see potential for Super-blocks.
I think the US will NEED it much more than other countries, some of the cities are desgined so poorly with such little green space
Amazing video, you should be getting more views! 🙂
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this video
Barcelona is years ahead of any other Spanish city.
Amazing video. I'm surprised the view count isn't higher
thank you!
