A lot of people are saying cut your losses. But if you enjoy fixing things like this. Just do it. You may just come across something like a gt 350 with the same problems. You can say iv done this before I can do it again. And the money you will make from it will offset the losses on this one. Knowledge is priceless. Besides you said you may give it to the boy. The smile on his face will be worth the trouble.
Let me get this right. You are to afraid to disconnect the battery charger in fears of it blowing up in your face, but you go up to it with your camera showing it smoking and take the time to stick a microphone up to it so that your subscribers can hear it sizzle. Tell me what’s wrong with that picture.
Hey Randy just like to say I appreciate you pumping out the vids like you do, you’re my go to each morning you tube update fix, being retired you keep my interest in auto rebuilding, cheers from Australia 👍
Back in the old days (40 years now), that was a challenge charging lead acid batteries. We used to remove the caps when charging batteries to allow venting to ease the pressure. That did seem excessive however.
There is a very good chance that any/ many of the control modules have also been damaged, that alternator would have been kicking out all sorts of crazy volts due to it's regulator being totally u/s.
That part is a fuel pump control module FR3A. If you give cant figure out the top switch issue, I can walk you thru manually wiring your own relays to the motors with a monetary switch to raise and lower the top.
Salt water in flood cars will corode things you can't see. The interior connectors might look all fine but this car is destined to probably have electrical gremlins in it now. All the body modules talk to each other thru that canbus . The work you put into this will be huge. Is it worth the effort ? No guaratee whatever you replace will fix all these problems.
Good thing the battery didn't do everything else worse but the good news you got the top up t think when you get all fix and the engine will sound awesome nice video
Great video as always. It will certainly be a challenge and I feel it's worthy of the time and money. For the folks laughing about the battery, I can only guess that you have never seen the aftermath when one does explode. Amazing just how much damage battery acid does when it hits something and how far it can travel. If your in the way of it's travel, it will be a life altering experience.
I’m liking this mustang to be fare Randy you’ll have it just how it should be looking it’s not in to bad of a condition either Randy awesome man!.🎄👌👌👍👍
I had a '78 Malibu Classic that the maintenance free AC Delco-Remy side post battery blow up in my face when trying to start it one day. My dad was inside when it happened. Some real scary shit! That battery in this video was definitely on boil. Glad you are alright. Sulphuric Acid isn't anything nice
The acid and distilled water in your battery were boiling and creating steam. Probably because the alternator way overcharged it. Too many components were under salt water and are causing you problems. Use your plugin battery charger as it has circuits to protect your batteries. Also check your alternator output for damage. Probably the regulator is dead. You’re lucky the fumes didn’t harm your lungs. At least your shop didn’t catch on fire and destroy everything, and catch the house on fire. It’s your property, but sometimes you hurry and don’t think things out. Be safe Randy.
Dude pull both both of those motors off and you can put the top back up and lock it down. You can figure something out but you know that's all you have to do. The motors are the axle motors are holding that top down so easy
Randy you are fearless about these flood cars - We got so many in Florida - I watch you and all I can say is you really roll the dice - I keep looking at CoPart and half the yards down here in Florida are flood cars - and the other white Mustang I think is gonna be a survivor. When I saw that battery cooking on this black one, I was like "No Way" - Good luck - your potential upside is great and we are all hoping you hit the home run on these - Good luck again - if you sort this out we need a flood car award for you -
Anytime you hear a battery sizzling like that unplug any power source as in like turning off and not disconnecting as it’ll cause a spark and could cause the battery to ignite/explode. Has happened to me. Not a good experience.
Perhaps I missed stuff in another video but to get me up to speed on this, I know that yoiu know that a low charged let alone a boiled to death battery will give a myriad of error codes from sensors, modules, etc. so why not start there with the new battery and then check for power at the fuses and/or connectors before you start replacing switches and modules? Top motors being replaced while you're in there is good preventative medicine even if they're not total shot. Best, Jack
Hey Randy I was wondering who do you recommend to pick up a vehicle out of state of Oklahoma? I’m looking to buy a vehicle my first vehicle out of state and I never have 😊hired a transporter. I live in the Tulsa area and I’m buying the vehicle from Copart.
Good morning Randy. Working on the 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost. Let's see if you can get the car running and driving. Also get the convertible top up. Good luck on getting everything fixed.
Hi Randy that question you have about that part the one that 8:58 seconds show me it called 2016 FORD USA MUSTANG Coupe 2.3 Fuel Pump Relay Control Module fr3a-9d370
You can look at some TH-cam videos of learning how to open it up and reassemble the top back on so look at some TH-cam videos that will show you how to do it
Hopefully you don’t have to reprogram the motors for the top. I have had to have that done with my wiper motors on my 2012 ford focus and the battery was bad so they had problems programming them cause of the bad battery so I had to get a new battery on top of everything else. Over $1,000 later got the front wipers working
A car battery crackling and smoking usually indicates a severe issue with the battery itself, most commonly caused by overcharging due to a faulty alternator or voltage regulator, which leads to excessive heat buildup within the battery causing it to vent gases and potentially even catch fire; this is considered a serious situation and requires immediate action to disconnect the battery
Yeah, I've been looking at the seats and can't figure out if those are covers or just a horribly installed set of leather or if the water did that to them.
@@mattsedgwick3082 He was'nt sure what to do, but he unplugged it, so he knew something was wrong, I'm glad he unplugged it, He did'nt know what to do. But he'e ok at least
I had that happen to me with my old mercedes W124, i noticed the bulbs were going out too fast and it cranked over really fast aswell, and then when i was 1 street away from home i had to stop at a light and smelled the battery cooking, my dad and me thought it was the regulator but it turned out that the entire alternator was shorted out, so it didn't show any symptoms when i had it disconnected, since it was a diesel it ran fine without a battery and didn't need lights because it was summer, but we changed it out and as soon as i touched the positive terminal the alternator got stupid hot, you could smell it and see that warm air going so i asked where the 10mm was and unplugged the battery
These videos are great, Randy but when are you going to get some cars up for sale? I know lots of your viewers might be interested in some of your W-bodies or the Panther you've got sitting there. 🙂
Randy since you have the bell air tore apart you certainly should put a little cam in it. A comp cam 268h would be perfect in there. Stock converter and everything will still work give it a little more noise again comp cams 268h not the xe look them up
Hey Randy the CD player should be actually called the ACM Audio Control Module there is a company on ebay that you can send it out to and they will repair and update it for around $150 my Taurus had an issue and that was the culprit no touch screen or radio control they may be able to repair all three parts
Well I got a suggestion man. I don't know if you listen since it's a convertible and I know a lot of people get speaker marine speakers that are waterproof. So if they get wet you know from leaks and stuff they don't mess up. It's a a lot of people with convertibles do that the door shouldn't be a big problem or anything. But you can probably get some pretty good rear speakers for that car. That'll work great and and water leaking ain't going to hurt them
hoo ... doing MOT's in uk ... i was sat on the ramp in the car!! and a battery "left on charge" over night BOOM!!! think the gasses also shorten my days .. ! 8/
Hey Randy, I just got done watching your video that you posted for us on the 2015 mustang convertible I think after you replace all the parts sport it’ll be back up and running and able to be a normal vehicle after you get on fixed so I thinking we’ll save it and maybe either keep it for Nick or maybe just turn around and put it back in an auction after you go to get it fixed but I’ll be glad to see the next video on it whatever you decide to do it. I hope you have a wonderful wonderful Sunday because that’s the day I’m watching this video and if you would please tell Nick and Jessica I said. tell Jessica I said hi. I hope you have like I said I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Talk to you soon and I’ll be looking out for the next video see you man
Quick safety tip. If the battery is smoking with the jumper pack on it, disconnect the jumper pack,Quick! Try not to make it spark or it will explode. It happened to me once.
Switch was probably bad and is why the top wasn't up .I think the climate controls go bad on them anyway so you just might get this nice mustang working again.
