For a better understanding, the mv is based on a bolivian legend. The real meaning behind the story is based solely around a 19th century legend which involves a young deaf boy who has fled from his home because he is being abused and as he left, he found a stray dog that kept him company since then. After living on the streets for a large amount of time he finds out that he has the ability to find out people’s troubles, he can then heal them by screaming (This is when he has his fingers in his ears, and doing the "La la la" part). This screaming was rumoured to be as loud as an earthquake or even a tornado. The boy finds a man (The gray faced guy), who is being stoned by other villagers whilst being shouted at. The boy uses his ability to find out what is wrong with him and repairs the old man’s heart (this is the part in the video where he buys the man a heart). The boy and the old man then meet a disfigured man (Traffic guard guy aka sock monkey) who was abused and seen as a dodger of society. Using his powers the boy finds out that the man is a prophet who was cursed by El Tio because he simply didn’t worship him and left the area that the demon lived. El Tio was considered as a lord of the underworld, mortals offered him gifts for his protection and to lessen his anger. The prophet told the boy that anyone who could hear El Tio would immediately fall under his full control. He also tells him that El Tio could be found in the desert, where there used to be a small town that worshipped El Tio but he cursed them to kill themselves. As a group they all cross the desert and enter the mine in which holds the demon, however they didn’t want to be cursed so only the little boy entered and as he was deaf, he was unable to be controlled by El Tio and he used this special ability to over voice him and stop him from cursing others. Basically, the boy was a sacrifice To answer a couple questions: One day, this song came up in my recommended. And I wanted to know the meaning, so I googled it and decided to share it here bc it's an interesting story. The story is a legend, which means it all might not make sense. The boy makes a sacrifice bc he gives up his whole life, for eternity to keep a demon occupied. Some fun facts: Uyuni salt flats (El Salar de Uyuni) is shown in the video. They filmed there, as well as La Paz, and Cerro Rico. It's told like a story, and it's part of Bolivian culture: "El Tío is believed in Cerro Rico, Potosí, Bolivia to be the "Lord of the Underworld". There are many statues of this devil-like spirit in the mines of Cerro Rico. El Tío is believed to rule over the mines, simultaneously offering protection and destruction."
For those who don't know what's all about. The video is based on an old legend. In the legend, a little deaf boy had the power to know other people's troubles, and could heal them with his voice. He left his abusive home and found a stray dog to keep him company. As he was living on the streets, he found an old man being shouted at and stoned by others in the village. The boy used his power to heal the man's heart, and they continue traveling together. Then they find a man who is disfigured and shunned by society. The boy uses his voice again and find that the man is really a prophet who was cursed by El diablo, the statue you see at the end of the video. Anyone who can hear El Diablo immediately falls under his control. They hear he can be found beyond the desert, so the group travels to see him. They find the cave where El Diablo lives, but the two men and the dog can't enter. If they do, they'll fall under El diablo control. So the boy goes alone. Because he is deaf, he can't hear El diablo. He stayed in that cave, and used his voice to drown out El diablo, so nobody would be hurt by him again.
My cousin would play this song to wake me up in the morning before school for 4 years until he past away from a brain tumour I always think about this song when I wake up
This song its about a legend from Bolivia (a latin american country) the kid is deaf and his father is bad,so the kid run away. He finds the dog, and help a old man (en the legend,a bullies were hitting him) then, both of them find a guy who was in a satanic group but he desert and "el tío" (satan,in Bolivian culture) disfigurement his face, thats why hi is cover it. They go to the cave of "el tio" and the legend said that "el tio" sing all the feelings of hate and that kind of thing, and the people get corrupted and kill each other. Its then when the old man,the dog and the guy with a mask say goodbye to the kid, so as not to get corrupted they leave. And the kid stay, because he is deaf so he cant get corrupted, and he begans to sing to "el tio" to keep him calm for the whole eternity I am from Bolivia, in the city were this was filmed, i like this video and i wanted to share the legend with you, sorry if I have a bad english,in the best i can do :)
Thank you for your explanation I’m from Turkey by the way when you started explaining I replayed the video again and following at the same time your comment:))
Thanks you for explaining the video makes sense now. And no don't apologise for your English, you don't owe perfect English to anybody. English is also not my first language
"Im covering my ears like a kid, when your words mean nothing I go la, la, la" is now more understandable and relatable than it was when we were younger.

+Zeina Dababo According to Jewell, the video is about a Bolivian oral legend that is related to The Wizard of Oz and dates from the early twentieth century. The history is about a deaf boy who runs away from home, where he received abuse, and finds a vagabond dog that accompanied from that moment. After living on the street for a while, he discovers he has a talent for perceiving the problems of people whom he can heal by giving powerful screams like an earthquake or a tornado. One day, he meets an old man (mason) who was stoned by the villagers, after being mocked and ridiculed. The child, when he shouts, solves his problems and revives the heart of old man -in the video, the boy buys him a new heart-. Together, they then found a disfigured man who was abused and discriminated against by society. This man reveals that he is a prophet cursed by a demon, El Tio, because he stopped adoring him and left the community because it was inhabited by this demon. El Tio is considered the lord of the underworld, to whom mortals give offerings for protection or to soothe his anger. The prophet said that anyone who listens to the devil would fall under his control and that he lives in the desert, where once there was a city that adored him and received a curse, which caused everyone to commit suicide. Together the boy and the old man head towards the residence of the demon, until they reach a mine. There, only the child must deal with the devil, because anyone with intact hearing could be cursed. With his cries he could stop the spirit from cursing other people. The story in the video is unresolved, since the child is left facing the demon, while his companions have gone away.
Video Explanation : The music video is about a Bolivian 🇧🇴 legend that tells the story of a deaf boy who fled from his abusive home and found a stray dog 🐕 that accompanied him since then. After living on the streets. He discovers that he has the special ability of perceiving troubled people - which he can heal by screaming (screaming that its said to be as loud as an earthquake and a tornado🌪) One day, he finds an old man who was being stoned by villagers while being taunted and ridiculed (hence why the old man has a dusty face) the boy intervened and by screaming, he resolved the situation and revived the old man’s heart (in the video, by buying him a new heart). Old man and kid later meet a disfigured man who was abused, and was considered a leper by society (Called Kusillo in Bolivia). The disfigured man reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by the devil 👹 (El Tio) because he didn’t worship him anymore and abandoned the town where the demon resided. 👹 El Tio is considered the lord of the underworld, to whom mortal people offer gifts in exchange for protection, or to ease his anger. The prophet (masked man) said anybody who could hear the demon would fall under his control🌀. He told them that the demon could be found across a desert (Uyuni salt flats), where there was a town where people worshipped el tio 👹 - and the story said that el tio cursed the people in that town to kill themselves. Together they start the journey to find the town, and arrive at a mine where the demon 👹 resided but they knew that everybody with their hearing intact could be cursed by el Tio👹 or be directed to kill each other. That is why boy had to face the demon alone and over voice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others.(the ultimate sacrifice - and why the two man and the dog left- to avoid getting under el tio 👹 control 🌀) The video has an open ending, considering that El Tio is the lord of the underworld who rules in the mines, and miners usually sacrifice a llama as a tribute from time to time to avoid being cursed. Sadly the boy could be seen as a big sacrifice to redeem the miners from El Tio’s undesirable influence. I’m Bolivian and love this story 🇧🇴 Insta: @davidestebangg
I'm glad you made a very detailed explanation of this Bolivian legend (lol I'm Bolivian) since many people still had doubts of the meaning behind the song.
English translation of the video explanation: The music video is about a Bolivian legend that tells the story of a deaf boy who fled his abusive home and found a stray dog that has accompanied him ever since. After living on the street, he discovers that he has the special ability to perceive people in trouble, who he can help by screaming (la la la) however the screaming is said to be as strong as an earthquake or tornado. One day, he finds an old man who was being stoned by the villagers while they mocked and ridiculed him (hence why the old man has a dusty face) The boy intervened by yelling, solved the situation and revived the old man's heart (in the video , buying him a new heart). The old man and the boy later meet a disfigured man who was abused and considered by society to be a leper (called Kusillo in Bolivia). The disfigured man reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by the devil (El Tio) because he no longer worshiped him and left the town where the devil resided. The Devil is considered the lord of the underworld, to whom mortals offer gifts such as often sacrificing a llama as a tribute from time to time to avoid being cursed. The devil would offer protection in return but it would often be from himself. The prophet (masked man) said that anyone who could hear the devil would fall under his control. He told them that the demon could be found on the other side of a vast desert (Salar de Uyuni), where there was a town whose people refused to worship the Devil, and due to this the demon cursed the people of that town with madness, ordering them to kill themselves . Together they continued on their journey to find the city and they arrived at a mine where the demon resided. They knew that anyone with their hearing intact could be cursed by the Devil but the boy is deaf hence negating any power over him. That is why the boy had to face the demon alone and defeat it with his cry to prevent him from cursing his fellow humans ,the ultimate sacrifice(hence why the two men and the dog left, to avoid being under the control of the devil). The video has an open ending, unsure whether the boy survived or not but considering that El Tío is the lord of the underworld who rules the people of that town in Bolivia... . The child could be seen as a great sacrifice to redeem the people from the undesirable influence of El Tío.

For those who do not know what this is all about. The video is based on an old legend. In the legend, a little deaf child had the power to know the problems of others, and could cure her voice. She left her abusive home and found a stray dog to keep him company. As he lived in the street, he met an old man who cried and stoned by others in the village. The child uses his power to heal the heart of man, and continue traveling together. Then they meet a man who is disfigured and rejected by society. The child uses his voice again and find that man is really a prophet who was cursed by the devil, the statue that is the end of the video. Anyone who can hear El Diablo immediately falls under its control. Oyen that can be found beyond the desert, so the group travels to see it. They find the cave where the devil lives, but the two men and the dog can not enter. If they do, will fall under control The Devil. So the child is alone. Because he is deaf, can not hear the devil. He stayed in that cave, and uses his voice to drown the devil, so no one would get hurt by him again.

Sam, when this first came out I was homeless, messed up, and in jail. Now I have a husband, a home, and a good job. This song and “Clover Cage - Lies From The Devil” are the two songs that helped me overcome my depression. I just want people to know that things do get better. We are in this together. I love you ❤️

*So many questions regarding the story of the video. So here goes. Once and for all*. It is based around a 19th century Bolivian legend which involves a young deaf boy who fled his home because of abuse and as he left, he found a stray dog that kept him company since then. After living on the streets he discovers he has the ability to *find out people’s troubles* , he can then *heal them by screaming*. The boy finds a man who is being stoned by other villagers whilst being shouted at, the boy uses his ability to find out what is wrong with him and repairs the old man’s heart ( _this is the part in the video where he gives the man a heart_ ). The boy and the old man then meet a disfigured outcast man who was abused. Using his powers the boy realises that the man is a prophet who was cursed by *El Tio* because he didn’t worship him . *El Tio* was considered as a lord of the underworld, mortals offered him gifts for his protection and to lessen his anger. The prophet told the boy that anyone who could hear *El Tio* would immediately fall under his full control, he also tells him that *El Tio* could be found in the desert. They all cross the desert and enter the mine, however they didn’t want to be cursed so only the little boy entered and as he was deaf, he was immune to *El Tio's* control. He used this special ability to over voice him and stop him from cursing others. For those who don’t know the Bolivian legend, the video can be portrayed in a very different way linking with the story of *The Wizard of Oz* , it starts with the little boy representing Dorothy, as he leaves on his own he finds the dog, this could be a link to *Toto* , the dog that Dorothy owns, or as the name of the dog in this video is _Chow Chow_ , which translates as ‘ _little lion dog_ ’ this could mean that the dog is also linked with *Zeke*, the cowardly lion from the movie, he could be with her as he needs courage, you then also meet the old man for whom which the boy buys the heart for, this links to *Hickory the tin man* who needs a heart, the last and final character you meet in the music video is the man who is signalling traffic, as is set up in costume to look like a scarecrow, he must be *Hunk* , he needs a brain and wants to aspire with more in his life. They then all make the journey over the desert, which in the story of The Wizard of Oz would be the yellow brick road up to The Wizrad, the 3 characters then get what they desire from him and leave Dorothy (the little boy) with the wizard to be sent back home.(All credits go to Kieran Hill for this info) *Personally i see this as a lesson for us, shutting ours ears and drowning out the negativity of this world. Children are usually immune to negativity as they have not been corrupted by the world yet (like they dont see caste, color, race, religious and political ideas). Maybe we must all look at the world with child-like innocence, and drown out all the hostility and hate in this world.*
For the people who wonder about it, the story is about an old Bolivian folk legend called El Tio, about a deaf child who escaped his abusive home and found a stray dog to keep him company. He had the power to heal people with his voice, and he found a man that was being stoned by the villagers. He sung to the man, and healed his heart. Afterwards, he found a man that was "different" and shunned by society. He sung to this person as well, and healed his spirit and mind. They went to a mine near the village, where a demon resided. The demon could control anyone who heard his voice and had put the village under his influence. While the dog and 2 men could not enter the cave, the boy was deaf and could not hear the demon. So he stayed behind and used his voice to be louder than the demon and overcame him, keeping the village safe. He had to stay there forever to sing to the demon and keep him away. ^^
The video is based off of the Bolivian Legend, El Tio. I think. It's about a deaf boy who escapes his abusive home and sets off on an adventure. Along the way he meets a stray dog, a man being stoned by the villagers, and a man who is "different" and is rejected by society. The eventually find the cave of the El Diablo (the devil) in the desert. Only the boy can enter because he cannot hear El Diablo's influence. If the others try to enter they will be influenced. The boy stays in the cave to drown out the voice of the devil with his own, so no one will be influenced by El Diablo. Hopefully this helped.
@@Miirai who knows. It’s a mystery that will never be solved I guess. But the video is based on an old tale... if you read the comments you’ll find the details :)
For those confused, i searched it for you! Music video revolves around an oral Bolivian legend from 19th century which concerns a deaf boy who fled abusive home and found a stray dog which accompanied him since then. Living on the streets for quite a time he discovers that he has special talent of percepting people's troubles which he can heal by screaming a scream which is said to be as loud as an earthquake and tornado. One day he finds an old man who gets stones thrown at him by villagers and or is stoned by them and ridiculed and taunted at, by screaming the boy resolves the situation and somehow revives his heart(by buying him a new heart in the video). Along the way they meet a disfigured man who was abused and was considered a leper by society, he reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by a demon(El Tio) because he didn't worship him and abandoned the society where this demon resides. El Tio is considered as the lord of the underworld whom people offer gifts to be protected by him or to ease his anger.[3] The prophet said anybody who could hear the demon could fall under his control. He told that the demon could be found in desert where was once a town in which people worshipped the demon and he cursed them to kill themselves. Together they go to the place where the demon should reside. They arrive at a mine where the demon is supposed to be but everybody could be cursed who is able to hear the demonic curses, thus the boy alone only could go to the demon and overvoice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others. The music video deliberately alludes to the story of the Wizard of Oz in an effort to conceal the legend from those unfamiliar with it.

There was once a little boy who was born deaf. His family abused him, so he ran away from home and settled on the street. The boy discovered that he could save people from trouble and illness by using a miracle cry - and he screamed so hard, as if a tornado or earthquake were hitting the city. One of the boy's "patients" was an old man who was unfairly accused and beaten by the townspeople - the boy saved the poor man from angry residents and cured his sick heart. Then the old man and the boy met another unfortunate, who told them that he had suffered from the wrath of the evil spirit El Tio. Anyone who heard El Tio's voice immediately fell under the spell of the evil spirit, and there was no escape from it. Then the boy went to the cave where El Tio dwelt, and turned the power of his mighty voice against the evil spirit. El Tio could not resist the boy, because he was deaf, and El Tio's main weapon was the voice. So the boy delivered people from the evil spirit. P.S In an interview about his song, "La-la-la", he said that he was inspired by the story, "the Wizard of oz". P.S(2) I am very tired of searching for information. I'm madly tired, these facts and stories will drive me mad. Thank you for your support! Upd. Thank you very much for 1k likes)

The story is a legend, which means it all might not make sense. The boy makes a sacrifice bc he gives up his whole life, for eternity to keep a demon occupied.
Some fun facts:
Uyuni salt flats (El Salar de Uyuni) is shown in the video.
El Tío is believed to rule over the mines, simultaneously offering protection and destruction."
daaammnnnn wtf!
Wow, thank you very much
I didn’t understand this video until now

Thanks
So did the boy die after staying in the cave?
Nope, he keeps using his voice to drown out El diablo for the rest of the time

And the kid stay, because he is deaf so he cant get corrupted, and he begans to sing to "el tio" to keep him calm for the whole eternity

He discovers that he has the special ability of perceiving troubled people - which he can heal by screaming (screaming that its said to be as loud as an earthquake and a tornado🌪)
One day, he finds an old man who was being stoned by villagers while being taunted and ridiculed (hence why the old man has a dusty face) the boy intervened and by screaming, he resolved the situation and revived the old man’s heart (in the video, by buying him a new heart).
That is why boy had to face the demon alone and over voice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others.(the ultimate sacrifice - and why the two man and the dog left- to avoid getting under el tio 👹 control 🌀)
The video has an open ending, considering that El Tio is the lord of the underworld who rules in the mines, and miners usually sacrifice a llama as a tribute from time to time to avoid being cursed. Sadly the boy could be seen as a big sacrifice to redeem the miners from El Tio’s undesirable influence.
I’m Bolivian and love this story 🇧🇴

The real meaning behind the story is based solely around a 19th century legend which involves a young deaf boy who has fled from his home because he is being abused and as he left, he found a stray dog that kept him company since then. After living on the streets for a large amount of time he finds out that he has the ability to find out people’s troubles, he can then heal them by screaming, this screaming was rumored to be as loud as an earthquake or even a tornado. The boy finds a man (the old man with the radio in the gym) who is being stoned by other villagers whilst being shouted at(the group of women), the boy uses his ability to find out what is wrong with him and repairs the old man’s heart (this is the part in the video where the boy buys the man a heart). The boy and the old man then meet a disfigured man (the man in the street) who was abused and seen as a dodger of society. Using his powers the boy realizes that the man is a prophet who was cursed by El Tio (the horned beast in the cave) because he simply didn't worship him and left the area that the demon lived. El Tio was considered as a lord of the underworld, mortals offered him gifts for his protection and to lessen his anger. The prophet told the boy that anyone who could hear El Tio would immediately fall under his full control, he also tells him that El Tio could be found in the desert, where there used to be a small town that worshiped El Tio but he cursed them to kill themselves. As a group they all cross the desert and enter the mine in which holds the demon, however they didn't want to be cursed so only the little boy entered and as he was deaf, he was unable to be controlled by El Tio and he used this special ability to over voice him and stop him from cursing others.

They then all make the journey over the desert, which in the story of The Wizard of Oz would be the yellow brick road up to The Wizrad, the 3 characters then get what they desire from him and leave Dorothy (the little boy) with the wizard to be sent back home.(All credits go to Kieran Hill for this info)
*Personally i see this as a lesson for us, shutting ours ears and drowning out the negativity of this world.

I won't count the hours, rather be a coward
When our worlds collide
I'm gonna drown you out before I lose my mind
I can't find your silver lining
I don't mean to judge
But when you read your speech, it's tiring
Enough is enough
I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, oh
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I find a way to block it, I go
I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la

The story is about an old Bolivian folk legend called El Tio, about a deaf child who escaped his abusive home and found a stray dog to keep him company. He had to stay there forever to sing to the demon and keep him away
Cool i like that story

Factd
@@theretartedgrenouille7801 facts
