*such* an underrated actor, never gets enough credit for the characters he's played, just a shame he hasn't been given the chance to appear in enough high quality films that his talent deserves
Finally, a classy, challenging vehicle for Guy Pearce as the traitor Kim Philby with Damian Lewis as his friend and accuser Nicholas Elliott, "A SPY AMONG FRIENDS," a six-part series on MGM+. *Applause*
He was born in England but grew up in Australia acting in night time soap operas. He's lovely. I've been lucky enough to meet him on a photo shoot. Extremely normal, friendly guy.
Woohoo! I first saw him in Momento, and then Priscilla. He was lovely in drag haha BTW, i'd love to watch an interview with you and Tom Hardy! I'm sure it would be very interesting.
I think he's yet to give a truly showstopping performance, but otherwise, he's a fantastic actor. Such a chameleon. Never seen an actor with so many different looks and characters, I have no idea how he comes up with all the different mannerisms and voices. He might just be the most versatile actor in the world right now, along with DDL and Gary Oldman. The only thing he's a bit lacking is the presence these other two guys have. At least he can't be typecasted. I wish him a lot of success.
Speaking of Ridley Scott and seeing the brilliant Guy Pearce here, it just clicked. He should be Flashman which is one of Ridley's projects. Love Flashman! Have Nick Crave work on the script, and let Ridley let Guy make it as awesome as it deserves to be.
With LA Confidential, The Prosposition, and Lawless you'll get his range. With The Proposition in particular you'll see the real Harry Flashman beneath the surface. Not to take anything away from Malcolm McDowell, but Flashman is not a comedic character. He's a flawed human. A coward who becomes a hero despite his best efforts.
He says he’s not funny. Ummm...right...go watch some of his talk show interviews. He’s hilarious, especially in the one with Seth Meyers talking about his kid.
Does anyone know if there is a premeditated reference to Hitler in the scene by the tunnel? He resambles H. a lot in that scene. Plus, what happened in the scenes immediately before… I wonder if it was planned. I haven’t seen such interpretation anywhere…

Great interview. Really liked your questions and he answered them wonderfully. The Proposition is his favorite movie that he's done? Interesting.
I like Guy Pearce very much, thanks for posting!

really good interview. For the first time, I feel like I have a good idea of how he goes about creating the characters he does.
According to Wikipedia, he was born in England then moved to Australia: "Guy Edward Pearce (born 5 October 1967) is an English-born Australian"
