i like the differences charlie and chonny have in their songs charlie spent all his life doing what he believed was right and was dumbstruck that he ended up in hell anyways. charlie then pleads to the angels to let him into heaven because he was a good person and that there must have been a mistake. he is terrified when hell is exactly as it as described, people being tortured and devils all around him. his last lines were him begging the devils to let him go back to heaven while succumbing to the reality that he will spend eternity in hell. chonny admits/is known for not being a good person so when he is sent to hell, no one isn’t surprised. chonny still tríes to get himself back into heaven partially because he doesn’t want to be tortured for eternity but mainly that’s who he is, a charismatic cheat who can get himself in and out of any situation. he is surprised that hell isn’t what it is nade out to be, hell being more of a giant party for the ones who didn’t qualify for heaven. demons are willing to give him anything he wants while the true criminals are rightfully tortured. he is still unhappy, wanting to return to his old life. the last lines are the demons offering him entertainment and a menu while he wishes to be alive again. (these are just simple differences i noticed in the songs. let me know if there’s anything else you noticed)
It's worth noting that Charlie never once thought he was a bad person because he never once thought on any of his actions too closely. He ran from his demons rather than ever facing them, so of course he's amazed he didn't make it into heaven, because he can't apologise for sins he can't admit to commiting even to himself. Chonny just isn't quite good enough for heaven, but not bad enough for real punishment, so he's just chilling and playing cards
My interpretation of Charlie is that all the good deeds he did were purely (or mostly) just for show, and that he was only being a good person because he thought he'd get rewarded with heaven rather than doing good for the sake of being a good person. For example he rode his bike to work when the price of gas rose, and especially when he dies and is excited to go to heaven rather than sad that he's leaving behind his loved ones. This isn't to say that he was a bad person, just that his reason for being good was selfish and misguided. That could be why he goes to hell instead. Chonny on the other hand knows he's not evil, but definitely not good enough for heaven.
@@dr.wigglesworthChonny seems to be a man that’s been kind to those who’ve been kind to him and willing to give but smart enough to see who’s a fraud like him. He’s pretty much just a human version of the demons who he resides with and unlike Charlie he’s actually a good person if you ignore his outward evils like stealing and fraud.

We shouldn't condemn people for taking hot showers, taking longer routes to work when a good song comes on, or possibly even taking their own lives (which is actually a reason to go to Hell in Christianity). Anyway, Chonny is being profound as always. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
Also the “humility crumbled” thing: Pride is a sin, which is kind of ridiculous if you take it at face value. Obviously, the sin of pride is more about Hubris than anything, but the modern misinterpretations of the Bible are super strict on humility, and giving yourself to God

Jesus loves you, i love you bro, and i hope you have a good day.
I honestly hate the belief in Christianity of going to hell from taking your own life. Coming from someone who grew up in the religion, to me it was disgusting how people thought the person who took their life was the “bad guy”, like can you not comprehend that that person was in such a terrible state that they took their life to leave whatever was causing them pain, like do you think God who is supposed to be a good guy would punish someone who has already suffered through so much, it’s stupid. Even though I still believe in the basics of Christianity some of their beliefs are incredibly skewed in the wrong direction.
JUST FINISHED THE SONG. HOLY SHIT DUDE THIS SOUNDS AWESOME?? THE CHANGED LYRICS ROLL SO WELL AND _OH MY GOD THE COMBO OF THE SONGS AT THE END_ YOU DID NOT HAVE TO BR THAT COOL BUT YOU DID IT AND ITS AWESOME
Always just thought that like, really bad people (like “kills children” type of bad) would end up there, and if you had some anger issues or a slight compulsive liar problem you’d still be fine to go to heaven.
Yeah, it kinda is. But I also like to think it's some sort of "comfort concept" for people. My mom thinks everyone deserves heaven, even people like Hitler cause "God is forgiving." But imo, that's why Hell's a concept that people believe in. Cause why the hell would Hitler be welcome in heaven? Are you fr????
THE PARTS THAT USE OTHER SONGS BY THAT HANDSOME DEVIL???? "At war with every species, from Dinosaur to Seaweed." "At war with every species. Veni. Vidi. Vici." ARE FROM SAVAGES AND "Shut up, you're stupid. Just hold my friggin' hand." IS FROM SHUT UP YOUR STUPID AUGH THATS SO COOL
I love how flipping scrip completely recontextualizes(I don’t know how to spell that) the “Keep on running to those angels” part. Because it changes it from whatever the original means, to “Yeah keep running, but ya gotta ask, what do the angels/demons really want from you?” It makes it so much more interesting.
I always used to skip this song because I thought it sounded annoying, but recently I listened to the whole thing and started to love it, I’m glad that Chonny made a cover of it :)
HELL YEAH When I saw you covering that handsome devil I was so eager to hear your rendition of Charlie’s Inferno and my hopes were answered! Don’t forget, You’re awesome!
oh wow i absolutely LOVE how this twists the story of the original........hetero heaven energy in the best way...................the final chorus with all the bits from the other power hour covers was so fun......absolutely did charlie's inferno justice and then some, amazing work as always mr jash
I was debating wether or not to put this on my daily playlist but then I got to that ending around 3:30 and it was an insta-save, that was incredibly well done
I really like how the other four songs were added into this one, because I think each "singer" has their own "sins" that might land them in Hell, despite not truly being irredeemably evil SHUTUP YOU'RE STUPID- homosexuality SAVAGES- unquestioning consumerism A DRINK TO DEATH- alcoholism EVL PPL- lack of faith, probably (obviously this is just my interpretation but i think it's cool) (oh also this cover just sounds amazing and it keeps getting stuck in my head, i love its unique take on Hell compared to the original song)
@@katleong "I'll get the courage to ask him out. He'll say he don't like men and giggle with his friends. I'll bust my hand and never see him again. Whoop." -Lyric from "SHUTUP YOU'RE STUPID."
I love how this portrays hell. It’s never sat right with me that like. Normal people things (sometimes even factors out of their control) are punished by eternal torture. And also I love how the demons are treating him like a guest. They don’t push him around show him through the door. They’re downright hospitable, especially in contrast to the angels that “push him through the door”. It’s not like tempting him to sin will do anything, he’s already in hell. And it’s so fun to have that little tune after the sign to act as sort of “look at our cool resort where nobody is having a bad time” deal. Also! The one detail with the sign!!! Maybe this is a silly crack theory but what if chonny in this song ironically managed to follow the holy texts better than charlie
Much like the message I got from Charlie’s inferno I like the message I’m getting from this song. The idea that many people we try to distance ourselves from are actually like us. The quote “there are plenty like minded folk here” shows this pretty well imo
Funny, I had just found the original version of this back in September and was slamming it on repeat for the better part of the last two months. Absolutely love the fact that you've put your spin on the lyrics and instrumental work; truly, one man's hell can be another's heaven. Why fear the inevitable anyways? I really love the voice you put on for the Devil in this one; very gruff, deep and raspy. I bet it's hell on the throat, but it sounds really good, even when infused with a bit of a sillier tone. Definitely saving this one off as another new favorite. As always, thanks for the jams Dr. Jash
I like to think the other songs are there and ONLY in the hell section because every person protagonist of each song was sent to hell, so Chonny meets them too. Really like how this song has some kind of worldbuilding!
With the Christian mythos mostly stagnating and rotting in this era, its always nice to hear an objectively better version from my favorite man lesbian
@thatone_comment Context and connotation is important. Certainly there are things in other religions worth criticism - be that misogyny, caste systems, endorsing unhealthy relationships, or any variety of things. But the average westerner doesn't tend to have particularly close involvement with religions other than Christianity. If a house is on fire down the street, odds are you probably have less information about that situation than you might have with the shady looking man with a baseball bat standing outside your front door, and the proximity is going to make one of those situations feel much more pressing than the other.
This is the first song that I ever listened to that Chonny has made and it will forever be my favorite. It also made me realize how in a way, I do kind of relate to this song but this song or otherwise cover brought me to the brink of tears, in the good way. It’s that awesome of a song and I’d like to thank Chonny for it. : )
I immediately yelled at my boyfriend "THE DEMON IS HYDE!" because the voice changer sounded similar to TMHJ and he told me it was some "the walrus was paul" type stuff which was immediately hilarious to me.
I genuinely have multiple fears surrounding Mortality and if there is a heaven or not, and songs like this, make me a lot more comfortable with the concept, thank you
While I wasn't initially a fan of this cover, it's grown on me a tonne. I wonder if you'd ever think of covering Will Wood or Shafer James... 👀 Either way, fantastic work!
I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!! I already love the original Charlie’s Inferno a lot but this one is even better! I love how you found a way to turn the original on its head and made Hell seem more inviting. It’s very cool! I also really love your other covers and I just hope that you keep up the incredible work!
WE MAKING IT OUT OF THE RIVER ACHERON WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is very likely going to be my favourite one. Loved original Inferno to bits, but this? this is just ... phenomenal The new lines, the [very easy and predictable] replacing of 'Charlie' with 'Chonny', the twist, the instrumental, the vocals. it's perfect. So excited for what other Power Hours have to offer Also you did die like i said you should !!! amazing chonny !!!
Good lord I'm NEVER this early, but today my ears have been blessed with something completely unexpected that I will now be listening to on repeat for the next two weeks. This song literally itched a deep part of my brain I could never reach thank you 😢
I quite like this version of Hell. I really wish I believed in this instead of dreading the (in my mind) more likely possibility that it's just nothing.
OH. MY. GOD. This is amazing!! You always manage to make bangers and the way you've included the other songs alongside it is just so giddy to hear!! It's hella cool :D
i'm not sure what it says about me that your covers/lyrics always end up more relatable to me than the original songs lmao amazing cover, hearing your take on this song is so damn cool :D

As a Christian....
THIS SONG IS A BOP, I love all of the lyric changes that actually fit! I would and will listen to this on loop.
Agreed as a Catholic, this song is a bop :D
I always used to skip this song because I thought it sounded annoying, but recently I listened to the whole thing and started to love it, I’m glad that Chonny made a cover of it :)
YESSSS THE OVERLAYED VOCALS AT THE END GO CHONNY GO THIS ROCKS
plus the Mr. Hyde cameo (ok it's probably not actually Hyde BUT IT'S HIS VOICE AT LEAST-)
HELL YEAH When I saw you covering that handsome devil I was so eager to hear your rendition of Charlie’s Inferno and my hopes were answered! Don’t forget, You’re awesome!
"Here lies Chonny"
"You can tell it's him cos' we put his name on the stone."
The devil sounds like Mind in this, so I keep imagining Mind in one of those halloween devil costumes talking to Chonny lmao
Whole is Chonny, Soul is the narrator, Heart is the angel, Mind is the devil.
oh wow i absolutely LOVE how this twists the story of the original........hetero heaven energy in the best way...................the final chorus with all the bits from the other power hour covers was so fun......absolutely did charlie's inferno justice and then some, amazing work as always mr jash
I was debating wether or not to put this on my daily playlist but then I got to that ending around 3:30 and it was an insta-save, that was incredibly well done
0:13 me when someone asks me who lies here
0:16 me when that someone asks for proof of chonny lying there
I NEEDED THIS ONE AS A COVER HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING
analysed my chonny jash silly voice lore and i find it very epic that mr hyde plays satan
I really like how the other four songs were added into this one, because I think each "singer" has their own "sins" that might land them in Hell, despite not truly being irredeemably evil
SHUTUP YOU'RE STUPID- homosexuality
SAVAGES- unquestioning consumerism
A DRINK TO DEATH- alcoholism
EVL PPL- lack of faith, probably
(obviously this is just my interpretation but i think it's cool)
(oh also this cover just sounds amazing and it keeps getting stuck in my head, i love its unique take on Hell compared to the original song)
THATS SO COOL!!!!! i love ideas like these thank u sm for sharing!! i love taking it as many metaphors 🩷🧡💙❤✨!!
the fuck does calling someone stupid and telling them to shut up considered homosexualitiy?
@@katleong try reading or listening to the actual lyrics of the song

I love the lines from previous songs included here. It works really well and concludes the Power Hour really well :)
The EVIL PPL reference made my jaw DROP. Amazing work!
I'M GONNA FUCKING SCREAM??????? THE "keep running from those demons" LINE FUCKING M A K E S THIS DAMN SONG HOOOOOLY SHIT

We makin it to the heaven gates with this one !!!
Words can't describe how amazing this is. I love the twist from the original, this cover painitng hell in a positive light. This is so fucking good
I WAS HOPING FOR A CHARLIE’S INFERNO COVER.. AND IT DOES NIT DISAPPOINT!! 10/10 BANGER AS ALWAYS MR JASH
Here lies Charlie!...Chonny! (I just really like how it glitches over to chonny and I find it a really nice effect)
when it said a snack or beverage on the house it implies that there is a currency in hell I just found that kinda crazy
It's hell, of course there's taxes.
With the Christian mythos mostly stagnating and rotting in this era, its always nice to hear an objectively better version from my favorite man lesbian
Man Lesbian is my new favorite phrase-
man lesbian 😭😭😭
Love how criticism for any other religion is horrible but for Christianity is acceptable
@thatone_comment Context and connotation is important.
Certainly there are things in other religions worth criticism - be that misogyny, caste systems, endorsing unhealthy relationships, or any variety of things. But the average westerner doesn't tend to have particularly close involvement with religions other than Christianity.
If a house is on fire down the street, odds are you probably have less information about that situation than you might have with the shady looking man with a baseball bat standing outside your front door, and the proximity is going to make one of those situations feel much more pressing than the other.

is that a… chonny jash reference??
Hauntingly concerning, mindfully chaotic, and stunningly beautiful.
I love the iconic Chonny buildup
We (me) love the surprise guest star Mr. Hyde
Anyways, I was expecting this, and it’s suffice to say you delivered 100 fold! Bravo!
Bro, we are NOT gettin' into heaven wit this one 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔊🔊

I genuinely have multiple fears surrounding Mortality and if there is a heaven or not, and songs like this, make me a lot more comfortable with the concept, thank you
While I wasn't initially a fan of this cover, it's grown on me a tonne.
I wonder if you'd ever think of covering Will Wood or Shafer James... 👀
Either way, fantastic work!
Your wish shall be granted.
I can just imagine chonny trying not to laugh as he pleads to the angels to let him in, because the angels and him know he isnt getting in. lol
WE MAKING IT OUT OF THE RIVER ACHERON WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is very likely going to be my favourite one. Loved original Inferno to bits, but this? this is just ... phenomenal
The new lines, the [very easy and predictable] replacing of 'Charlie' with 'Chonny', the twist, the instrumental, the vocals. it's perfect. So excited for what other Power Hours have to offer
Also you did die like i said you should !!! amazing chonny !!!
we running from our demons till we are exhausted w this one
this is absolutely the best interpretations of Charlies Inferno ive ever seen
Good lord I'm NEVER this early, but today my ears have been blessed with something completely unexpected that I will now be listening to on repeat for the next two weeks. This song literally itched a deep part of my brain I could never reach thank you 😢
I quite like this version of Hell. I really wish I believed in this instead of dreading the (in my mind) more likely possibility that it's just nothing.
Yeah, this it's better than nothing
the way you did the devil sounds just like godforbid. i wanna scream my head off
i was introduced to this song literally the other day and now my favorite cover artist covered it while i was listening to it
Ah i knew this'd be the last one! Such an awesome power hour closer, Mr. Jash!
