Editor of Spiked Online, Tom Slater questions whether free speech is being eroded after people have been jailed for social media posts over the riots.
This comes after recent disorder across the UK in towns and cities such as Leeds, Liverpool, London, Belfast and Hartlepool in the wake of a triple murder of three young girls in Southport.
Keir Starmer has cracked down on this violent disorder through fast tracking court appearances for anybody found guilty of partaking in the riots.
The police do remain on high alert for any marches going forward, but have been accused of two-tier policing by some.

Our judicious system is based on the premis that you are innocent until proven guilty. However it seems now that you are guilty and the sentences are disproportionate to the 'crimes' being committed.
It is very alarming to observe the inconsistency in policing and in sentencing in this country. The trust we had in Britain has evaporated. I would say this is an extremely dangerous response activated by Starmer as a population who have lost faith in its judiciary could literally go anywhere!
