27 April 2024 I'm here, do listen to Brenda Fassie my black president and Johnny Clegg an Siyavuka asmbomanga, today sharing the music history with my children on this freedom day ❤
If you searched for this song it doesn't matter about your age, but know that you have a unique instinct in terms of music spirituality,, you understand the worth of happiness in African music,,chicco you were a blessing indeed 🙏
back then, as a small kid in Kenya, we had a programme called 'music time' that aired on our national broadcaster. the presenter was one Fred Obachi Machokaa and boy, we wdnt call it a day if this song (plus 'we miss u manelo' and 'i need some money') ddnt play. we wd get dwn and try to do the 'mapantsula' dance too! to date (20somethn yrs later), i still haven't mastered the dance!! these were music that united Africa. i miss those days. much love from Kenya Chicco!! shout out to my SA peeps!
khamis athman oooooh those days. I actually have done a sample from his some I need some money. I hope it will bring back that vibe when I release it sometime next yeah if we are all alive and kicking inshallah
You can listen this song over and over, you dont get tired of it - just listen to the beat! Imagine oneself on the long trip with the one you love and, eish!
In Nigeria, my dad would play these songs along with chimora, Yvonne chaka chaka and Hugh Masekela while my sister and i rocked to it. Great, sweet memories.
Meanwhile, some of us were enjoying the likes of Prince Nico Mbarga,Les Wanyika and Franco Luambo. It’s funny as I remember, our parties were heavily influenced by west African music along with our danshiki silhouettes.
How does listening to old South Africa music put me in a space where I think I’ve grown up in South Africa and I’ve never been to South Africa. I’m from Zambia and the nostalgia of listening to South African oldies is just gold I feel like crying . Wishing I was born in that era
OMG! Tribute to my Mom! Every birthday she would make sure she played this song! Good memories, it just hit me that growing up in the 90s in Nairobi was a blessing in its own right!
My father was working in Gauteng, he used to come with his songs and this was one of my favorite songs back in early 2000🤞i really miss those days and my father's soul may continue to rest in peace❤🕊
I feel crying, Thank you so much God for keeping me alive. I'm here with you in 2019.when I had this song in 1988 I could start dancing and daddy tell stop and do the work and go to school.
Reminds me of my Late Uncle Eric, I miss him sorely 😭 I especially miss how proud to be black he was and how he used to gather all of us as children and made us sing and dance to such beautiful songs with so much positivity ❤
🤣 🤣 Indeed many of us did that.. I will be like "mines are volvo, yours are BMW and yours are benz", let's start counting, the one with many cars is a winner 🥇
Ohk Chicco reminds me of my youth days, early 90s when South Africa was still peaceful country. When ladies were still dress with dignity not what we see today
Nice to see the old Johannesburg vehicle registration plates, similar to that from Botswana and shared with us by the British. The British have kept the same system of a yellow back plate and a white front one.
One of The Great jams that take me back to the old days when life was still life an everybody was still alive nabo aunty mariah and that street granny who was witching so hard😅😢❤gone are thosw days☹️😢💔💔
I was eight when this video played ..still enjoy the video and the kid in red just kills it .. Simple lyrics no swearing and sex talks ..Gone are those days..
Indeed as an East African, this song made our childhood during the middle of the 1980s. For me coming from a war torn Northern Uganda this gave the only happiness then. Great memory although it was hard times.
My first ever LP or music l bought with first pay, lt then became something like addiction for me to buy music almost every month. I sometimes had sacrifice or deprived myself some stuff just to buy music. I lost some lot when cassettes and LPs were not used anymore But never stopped or slowed down , today I can gladly say l have very good music collection, l can challenge anyone when it comes my music and l huge almost all genres of the music, proud of myself
I wish i could get comments from the 2 masters with caps dancing and just here how they felt dancing to this tune in early 80s they are champions there moves in dancing are killer ones, chicco we miss you where are you.

Watching in 2018. Memories of Nairobi growing up watching Fred ombachi machoka on music time, on our black n white Toshiba TV... Such an innocent time. Kids today are born immune to watching & enjoying stuff like this. They dont even know how to play outside wuthout ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICES. Such a shame. Im glad im a child of the 80's 💃💃💃✌👋
Kwani watu hawajaelewa this comment?the owner meant the song brought memories of his childhood days growing up in Nairobi. I also remember growing up with these songs on music time. Wakalelu and obachi machoka. Good old times when music was really music
Back then in 1985 I was doing grade 10 and I was a pantsula having that back and front cap with those brandwoods , your Navada with your black flat takkies or jack parcel.

Reading all these comments on various African Golden Oldies music channels makes one realize that Africa is one. Just a shame that we can not work together to make it GREAT. Let's make African Great Again as it is supposed to be.

The beat as I'm listening
Amazing! In the pre-Mandela days we had so much happiness coming out of SA despite the pain and struggle. Proudly South African

🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣 Glad to be an African, what a feeling to see these kids enthusiastically enjoy it to the fullest 😂😂😂
Back in 90s we used to own only 2 video cassettes, Chicco and Lucky dube. Never got tired listening to these legends.😁
South African songs entertained Ugandans largely nothing I can add on, big love. 👊🇺🇬❤️
Yes Wandera, i agree with you. must have entertained ugandans those days than South Africans.
The kids have rhythm- who can best that!!! Little boy in red and little girl wearing hat have killed it!!! 😂

June 2020 his songs contained hidden messages used to spread information to resistance fighters in the apartheid struggle. Love this
