Making this same case for my first real pc build, thank you for making this video, I could not find any info on this relic with my noob computing skills

I'm in the same boat as you. Interesting to see what he did, but I am still a little confused on what cables he used for side panel connector. I haven't finished the build because of the graphics card debacle so I am going to see if I can get the original card working since it was working before I did the tear down and I still have to software on one of the hard drives.

@@picklerick111 What connected to the connectors in the main frame of the case, was individually connected with something to the akin of a: SIM&NAT 8inch / 20cm Male to Female Dupont Wire, Male to Male, Female to Female Breadboard Jumper Wire Ribbon Cables (ripped off amazon), and made sure he connected the right ones to the 4 pin that connects to that led hub

SUPER thankful for this video. Im surprised it’s 12v. The Dell XPS 700 that came out in the same era with LEDs are actually better suited to 5v, people reported they burn out over time if you use 12v

I think this is the only sensible Alienware computer desktop to really build in it seems like when Dell took over they just started smothering the computer with more plastic and less airflow in mind

Hi, thanks for posting this video - so if I understood this correctly, all you need to get the LEDs working again is the RGB controller and the converters (black cables)? Do I check if all the LEDs are working fine as you did with the electrometer? I think the existing RGB controller board in the chassis is bust as all the lights stopped working few years ago. Please advise when you get a chance, thanks.

      Hi,
There is no need to use an electrometer, we used it to make sure on which voltage these LED's run as the case is from way before all that was standardized :)
You should be able to use any regular RGB controller, including the headers on modern motherboards. The connectors on the alienware case are however not your standard connectors, so you either need to solder on some new connectors or buy some adapters like the ones mentioned in the video description :)

I am sorry, i dont have experience with that case.
Does it have regular RGB headers?

planning to do a custom build on the same case, do you mind if i'll get in touch with you to get some more info on what you used/did with these lights? thanks

      Sure, no problem.
What do you want to know?

@@kingtech7146 thanks for replying, I think I figured it out myself. all original rgb's on the case are 650mA in total (50mA each), motherboard has 2 rgb outlets so I think with 2 splitters from both mobo outlets (1 to 5) should be fine without an rgb controller as you used. mobo will only have the rgb's and 3 or 4 fans (presuming each fan would be about 200mA each). I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong :)

      @@PocaHontas2002 No problem :)
I also run some of the LED's directly from the motherboard, but my motherboard didnt have enough headers to control all LED's separately.
Joke is on me though, the wife puts them all on the same color :)

can you place a motherboard and other pc components in that cabinet?

    • @kingtech7146
      @kingtech7146  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Absolutely, it supports at least up to full size standard ATX motherboards.
I have another video where i replaces the components of the old PC for the latest (at that time) stuff.
