Loved, loved, loved this podcast with Mary Gabriel! What a joy to have her giving us a more in depth insight in the artistry of Madonna. I will definitely buy her biography. I have been in love with Madonna since I was 5 years old and I can not put into words what she has meant for me in all stages of my life. Overall she has been a true life saver and inspiration. Oh yay! I purchased the book once it became available and I’ve been reading it since then. Probably one of the best biographies I’ve read on Madonna thus far! Love all the footnotes and picking thru old media and interviews for more information about Madonna’s career. I’ve probably read every book about Madonna available, with exception of the book by Whit Hill. I’ve listened to Ms. Gabriel’s other interviews regarding this book and love that you guys are interviewing her too! I was wondering if you guys would get her on 🎉🥳🎊
Now this was a fantastic interview with someone who seriously understands Madonna & putting so much attention to her career. Not like with that ignorant hater Nadya Ginsburg, who think that Madonna sounds like Donald Duck lol

I really enjoyed this specific podcast episode a lot ❤ It’s always interesting when someone decides to write another unauthorized biography of a person & then we have Madonna who’s had several written about her in the past… I am pleasantly surprised & elated to hear the angle she has chosen to write about Madonna. This actually sounds like a good book 📖 in my opinion & will be willing to purchase & read it. I’m glad she’s taking more of a historical perspective when writing verses something salacious… And I loved hearing all of your in depth commentary & that she’s now a Madonna fan! Yay!!!! ✨🎊👸🏼🎊✨
At this point Madonna’s life can only be chronicled in a series of books instead of just one. Her personal and professional lives are inexplicably intertwined with one another.

Wonderful interview! It's so nice to see an in-depth interview really getting into the details with someone who wasn't initially a Madonna fan until she really did her extensive years of research and analyzed the music and her as an artist and a person and the deeper she went into her life, the bigger fan she became. I can't wait to read the book. Great questions!

Great, in depth interview. I knew M from her time at Lucky Strike. Ambition has been her greatest art. Guys, can I recommend raising your camera height? Looking downward casts distracting shadows over the eyes and distorts faces. Next up, get Christopher on.

I think what stymied Madonna's acting career is that it's hard to forget its her acting a role. That worked for her in Susan and the 2 films where the audience could get past the fact they are watching madonna and instead see the role/character she was portraying was A League of Their Own and Evita. But, even if she was an actress of the caliber of Meryl Streep, it would be hard to get past - you are watching the most famous woman in the world acting a role of someone much less famous and that has a lot to do with her acting criticism...but it's not really her fault that critics can't see past her and see the role.
