    I always thought uv resin was hard!!!! I struggled with using ECO 2 part back in like.... 2006? When you had to buy it at the hardware store bc craft stores didn't have it. But wow you made it look SO EASY. WTF. I have been missing out. Much regret

    I started making some resin jewelry and have a question. About them. How do you remove excess resin if there are spots that overfilled and you didn’t seen it until after it has cured? I am trying to make some dagger shapes and no matter what I do, it either overfills or isn’t filled enough. How do I fill it right up to where it should go?

    Yeah, still giving out bonus points for knowing the Blue Bonnet is Texas State Flower??? - these are darling! Need to know if folks are using a respirator with UV resins. I've been at this awhile and just now developing a chronic cough -- did a bit of research but seems to be an ambivalence about good ventilation/mask/respirator

    • @Nirrrina
      @Nirrrina 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either wear a respirator or use ArtResin which isn't a uv resin. But has been designed to be toxic free with no fumes. Only gloves needed due to any resin potentially causing an allergic reaction to build up.

    What is the best resin to use for jewelry? What resin is best to use for molds? Which mold is best to use for resin?

    • @LizLifeCrafts
      @LizLifeCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello~ It depends on your project. If you are making a larger piece I recommend 2-part resin over UV resin (as it works better in thicker layers and is cheaper). You can use 2-part or UV resin in molds but you have to use clear molds with UV Resin otherwise it will not cure. I prefer silicone molds for resin but you can also use plastic molds, just make sure to apply some baby oil or mold release to make removing the cured resin piece easier.

    Aren't you supposed to wear PPE? I know with the epoxy resin you're supposed to wear a respirator. Is it the same with uv resin?

    • @Nirrrina
      @Nirrrina 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I read about you're supposed to. Might be why it sounds like a voiceover.
      If don't mind using regular resin & still paying more for it you can get ArtResin. It was literally designed from the ground up to be safer & have no funds. You're still supposed to have ventilation but that's from an abundance of caution. The only thing recommended is a pair of gloves because with any resin you can develope an allergy.
      It's actually a good thing I did my research because the cheap kit I ordered on Amazon had absolutely no warnings at all. Actually they didn't even have directions either. But what do you expect from a try it out $14 kit. Had plenty of extras too.
      So from what I can tell get ArtResin or buy a respirator. Which I already had thankfully. They're not very much. Any hardware store has them in multiple sizes. If you need help sizing it just ask.

    Do your resin cure tacky? How do you resolve that tacky surface? I tried various brands and they all come out tacky no matter how long i leave the uv light on over my project or leaving them under the sun.

    • @LizLifeCrafts
      @LizLifeCrafts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question! There are multiple factors that can cause tacky resin aside from the brand of UV Resin. If you mix in too much colorant for example, it can be hard to cure. You also have to cure UV resin in clear molds in order to let the light pass through for the curing process. Thick layers will also have difficult curing. With that said, the Kawaii Craft Kits UV Resin will cure solid (non-tacky) as long as you keep the above in mind :) Leaving it out in the sun should also help a particularly tacky piece and when all else fails you can apply a layer of sealer or gloss on top to help it dry. Hope this helps!!

      If I have a sticky piece I use a thin layer of clear UV gel nail polish. It's worth knowing that you need a decent lamp, 36watt or more. I had lots of sticky issues when I had the little lamp like the one in the video, swapped it for a 48 watt, no more issues

      @@tiawainwright2134 I use the MelodySusie 36w nail lamp for my resin projects. It cured some 3D diamond shaped pieces I made no problem, but left a bit of cloudy residue on a ghost I made. Both had very small drops (1-2) of alcohol ink mixed into the uv resin. I can't figure out why the ghost came out cloudy but the much thicker diamond pieces cured perfectly. Both were done in clear silicone molds and cured for 4 minutes each. Any idea what might've happened?

      @@tiawainwright2134 No, I didn't. I thought it'd be okay and honestly I didn't even think of that. That's probably why the ghost didn't cure all the way. The sticky/cloudy part was on the bottom. Okay so yeah that's probably what it was. Thank you for replying. I'm still a beginner at this.
