It was killuas fault that gon used his power. Killua knew that kite was dead so If he told that to gon then he wouldn,t Just blow up. Because then he had accepted the truth.
Gon was so sad because they killed Kite. But more in depth. In the manga, in the first book you're introduced with the scene where you see Kite save Gon from the huge foxes. Kite also introduces him to the world of hunters and becomes like a father figure to him. That's why he got so angry.
Kite's death was the first big trauma gon's experienced. Deep down gon knew kite was dead but he was in complete deny, and when he found out kite was realy dead he blow up man, he's just a kid who don't know how to deal with anger fear sadness and this mixed with seeing kite's killer lying to you rigth in front of you, makes a lot of sense to me gon's reaction
