Nice setup aero-towing. All the tandems I have given have been mountain launches where the passenger had to run down the launch and/or jump off a cliff. I have given hundreds of tandems; Your pilot was a good guy-very safe.
That was cool! A long time ago I got to fly in a bamboo and plastic "Batso" hangglider built by one of my Dad's science students, I must have been 11 or 12 years old at the time. Then we got a commercially built one and flew it for several years into the early 1980's.
Wow.that looked fun ! I went to outter. banks once..stayed at Kill Devil Hills..saw the Kitty Hawk recreation plane...loved Jolly Rodgers Karaoke Bar !
I used to hang glide quite a bit when I moved to GA from IL. Lookout Mountain Flight Park is the most amazing facility for training and flying. Up in Illinois, I used to skydive a lot and had always wanted to hang glide and moving south made that possible. While I always told my students, and anyone else, "To fly is the single greatest thing in the world." I love skydiving more than hang gliding. By the way, I am in a sense afraid of heights also- afraid of being high up without a parachute or wing! Once you learn about your equipment it quiets most or all of the fears that ignorance of an activity breeds.
Have not done that. But i was a paratrooper in the Army. Once the parachute opens it is a beautiful ride down. Quiet and peaceful. Relaxing. At least if its in the daytime. You are amazing.

This was so nice to watch. I love aviation and I have flown in Cessna's a few times but never have I tried hang gliding. Getting a bird's eye view of flying is just heavenly. I've also camped overnight on the beach and no place is better. Sitting around a campfire listening to the waves crash and smelling the salt air is so relaxing. And getting to watch a lightening storm out over the sea is better than any fireworks display on the 4th of July. Thanks for bringing us along. :)

If you truly enjoyed that, look into parasailing. It's a cart with an airboat type motor under a special parachute. I've done that and it was a blast. Thanks for sharing your experience.

hello, my friend! catching up on some i'd missed. great fun! you said you might try skydiving. if you liked this, you'll love skydiving. even in a tandem jump you go to at least 9,000 ft. i've not been hang gliding but i did jump out of a perfectly good airplane once and thot i'd died and gone to heaven. circumstances precluded my going again, but, at least i have the memory and video of my one jump. you really should try it, Hannah! from 9,000 ft you can actually see the curvature of the earth. and free-falling is even closer to flying.

Dr. Hannah Sraight, I took instruction in hang gliding, many years ago, at Kill Devil Hills, NC, free flying from the dunes! Go for a sailplane ride, for another great experience! I took instruction in an ASK-21 sailplane with a WWII Veteran, who flew Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsairs during the war. The Corsair is the same type of aircraft flown by Maj. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington of VMF-214 the Black Sheep Squadron. This instructor, really knew how to maximize energy management in that sailplane! I did this at a little AirPark near Warrenton, VA, years ago. Just a friendly piece of advice, I think you should ask a dear friend, preferably a female pilot or stewardess, about the mile high comment that you made. It has another meaning in aviation circles... Just saying. So glad that you enjoyed yourself and overcame a fear to spend a few minutes soaring like a bird! Thank you for taking us along for the experience and sharing it here on youtube! Great video!

I started out hang gliding but it was a pain lugging it back up the hill, rigging etc....that’s why Paragliding is so popular now. Carry it up the hill in a backpack and away you go.

You're going great! I started flying training in general aviation aircraft at age 17 back in 1973, but you wont get me in a hang glider, or a parachute. Try some flying lessons in either an ultra light, or microlight aircraft. You'll love flying those little toys! Best wishes.

You'll love the experience, (after this virus issue goes away!). The E.A.A. has chapters across the USA, and around the world. About parachutes. A friend of mine was an experienced skydiver until the day his chute failed to deploy properly, and the reserve chute malfunctioned. Luckily he survived, but with multiple fractures. I was 82nd Airbourne on 1987 to 1994, I jumped into Kuwait during the 1st Gulf War. All the training at Ft Benning, GA, and all the practice jumps at Ft Bragg, NC, the Sarge still had to push me out the plane. I am 53 now and have knee problems so don't jump out of too many perfectly good airplanes eh. Enjoy a few.
Whenever I watch your videos I think of my college friends. You're from Pittsburgh (I think), and I went to college near there...Allegheny College. I had a lot of great college friends from Pittsburgh. Back in '80s we would watch the "Stillers" and drink a "cold Iron" instead of study. LOL
Got a fear of heights as well. But not so bad like when I am flying and in a plane.The only other time my fear of heights gets to me is when I am in high building that has a glass floor and looking down

I used to hang glide near Stead NV. Great to soar the ridge with hawks. Great laminar flow in the early evening. You should check it out!

I don't like heights but I love flying. When I was taking flying lessons I got really nervous coming into land, especially below 50 feet.

Got a fear of heights as well. But not so bad like when I am flying and in a plane.The only other time my fear of heights gets to me is when I am in high building that has a glass floor and looking down
I also avoid those floors, but after this I'm thinking it sounds a little easier=)
