Aromatherapy - Face & Scalp Massage Tutorial [Unintentional ASMR]

  • Here is a short, informative demonstration of aromatherapy massage techniques. This is a tutorial and should not be performed by anyone who is untrained in the subject. Likewise, only clinically trained aromatherapists should mix oil blends, due to the potency and effects of the oils. Those who are trained in massage (but not clinically) should use pre-blended oils only. Always remember to perform a full consultation and make sure there are no ailments present that prevent a massage first; you want it to be beneficial and it should never feel uncomfortable.
    Happy massaging!

    I love this video, I'm studying complementary therapies at college in Glasgow just now and I love the full body aromatherapy massage, even as a therapist treating the client is so relaxing ! Thanks for posting, just wanted to compare techniques and to see if I was doing this part of the routine correctly!

    If you are creating your own blend then you can include oils such as eucalyptus and peppermint for their decongestant properties. Citrus oils are also effective for lymphatic cleansing. You'll know to do your consultation and ensure that the oils you choose work well with each other too :)

    Take a look at our aromatherapy oils top, middle and base notes tutorials for more information. You can mix so many different blends for the face and body and rather than choosing oils for a body area, you would choose them based on the conditions that you want to treat. If you have allergies then you can research the hazards of each oil plus do a patch test 24-48 hours before using a blend to check for any reactions :)

  • @homespabeauty
    @homespabeauty  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm sure you'll forgive our model for a little nerves during her first on-line tutorial :)

  • @karmaofgood
    @karmaofgood 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, I'm just starting out massage, and the face seems to be where I have the most troubles. I've been told that my pressure is weak when I'm working the face. Do you think it's just a person to person thing? Because I end up getting conflicting messages when doing face massage.

    • @homespabeauty
      @homespabeauty  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be each individual's preferences as you'll find that each person has a different comfort level when it comes to massage pressures. The best thing that you could do is ask the person just at the beginning of the facial massage if they feel that your pressure is ok so that they can feed back to you before relaxing into the remainder of the treatment. You never want to have a pressure so firm that it simply feels uncomfortable to the client but, as you say, too light a pressure means that it can feel ticklish or even irritating. Keep asking for feedback at the end of each treatment and you'll soon work out if it's a client or therapist issue. Good luck and keen enjoying what you do! :)

    • @karmaofgood
      @karmaofgood 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, with most areas, it seems like I got it down, and I can keep the pressure steady and understand by just the muscle's reaction how the client feels, but with the face, there's usually no muscle reaction, and the place I usually massage is dark so seeing facial reaction is tough.

    • @homespabeauty
      @homespabeauty  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      karmaofgood
      It is a difficult one, and varying muscles tone, skin elasticity and the underlying structures in the face makes this area very different to massage compared to other areas of the body. Keep practicing and even ask fellow colleagues or friends/family if you can do some extra practice on them with full and honest feedback, to work out if it's possibly just a confidence issue :)

      I can't understand your last sentence. What does 'added her yo stop and left' mean? Professional therapists learn to gauge quite quickly who's not enjoying a particular style of treatment technique and we can stop and adapt before you feel you need to say anything, so you don't need to worry about causing a scene. We wouldn't let it get to that stage if you were open to a respectful dialogue.
