If you think The Zombies, Grass Roots, The Association, The Rascals, and others are "forgotten," then you would obviously flunk a course on music history. C'mon -- these bands are still loved today.
Other than the Seeds, not a great list. Here are some bands / songs that you don't hear very often that are worth a listen: Knickerbockers - Lies (sounds a lot like the Beatles) Castaways - Liar Liar Strangeloves - I want Candy; Night Time (You probably heard the covers) Christopher Salt - Primal Echoes (sounds like some early Pink Floyd) Avante-Garde - Naturally Stones (Game show host Chuck Woolery's band) The Blues Magoos - We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet The Electric Prunes - I had too much to drink last night Leo Kottke - Vaseline Machine Gun Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You; The Devil's Answer The Nice - America (2nd Amendment) (Keith Emerson's band) Roads End - Why Mason Williams - Classical Gas
Born in '52 so I grew up in 60s music. Never heard of half of these bands, and the only samples started with band #7 and were barely 2 seconds long. Poor research (I could think of better candidates) and I bet someone forgot to get copyright permission.
Video and image of The Yardbirds are mixed in with images of The Zombies. Also half of this list are not forgotten, the 1960's is 60 freaking years ago and those bands are classics from that era. The other half were very obscure. Old boomers know which are which.
Before the Scorpions from Germany was the Scorpions from Manchester, U.K. They came out with an album, "Sweet and Lovely" ~1965. One day, on a radio show, I heard one of their songs that was reminiscent of a Rolling Stones song, "It's All Over Now." This song, "So Mystifying," and other stuff on that album had that mid-60s appeal. Seems like a little known band.
I bought a Silver Apples cd a few years back. My brother recorded one track back in the late sixties, and we both thought it was great. I was a bit disappointed with the cd, though. My taste in music has changed some, I guess. The Creation. If you are 70 years old and like Progressive Rock, Painterman is your thing. Wonderful pop rock 😊
I know all of these bands very well. They were part of my life in the Sixties. Essential. In my oppinion Clear Light and Silver Apples are overrated. Where did you live if you don´t know these artists? Although the comments are rubbish. Lot of mistakes.
It is an odd take on these seminal bands of their time, to act like they "failed" when their music was played endlessly, on every radio station. I know entire albums word for word, because we bought them and listened to them constantly! There were hugely popular performers that people seldom remember for every decade. People make fun of disco, but it was high energy and happy just as the 70's were. I still listen to it to do housework! In my friend group in High School in the 1960's, we also listened to classical music, we checked out albums from the Public Library. We had wide ranging tastes, which seems odd to younger people now. Forgotten groups that we listened to in college? It's a Beautiful Day!, The Rotary Connection, Jacques Brel, Cream, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the New Riders of the Purple Sage, the list is endless... While I don't really live in the past as many 75 year old people often do, TH-cam indulges my occasional trips down memory lane. I love music from every decade of my life. In the late 70's and 80's my friends were music promoters and I have been to many concerts, from the Trammps, Earth wind and Fire, Parliament-Funkadelic, the Commodores to Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters! I do still find new bands to love every year. Why not? I have always loved music, and my favorite genre since my 40's is "Alternative" music. I dislike today's pop music (for its simplistic repetition of very few lines over and over and over, I mean you Tay-Tay!), rap, hip hop and country. I acknowledge that in the truly immortal words of Chris Rock" it's not for YOU!"
Uh, QUEEN is not a 1960s band. Formed 1970 - FORMED, not "well-known" took a bit for that. Clear Light??? Never heard of them, they were NOT in the "12 of the biggest bands"- how could they be when they released 1 album and then dis-banded? The Seeds???? again, never heard of them (point of reference, I was born in 1955, so I'm pretty familiar with POPULAR '60s bands). Nirvana (from the 60s) - again, never heard of them. I'm beginning to see a pattern...
This is truly fucked up. Plus the sappy delivery, the stupid narration is as annoying as shit. A complete waste of time . filled with untruths and nonsense.
It would have been nice if some of their hits had been mentioned. Other than Happy Together, I never heard any songs mentioned. Granted, I didn’t listen to the whole video
Who ever heard of most of these groups?😮 Maybe some never made it to the US. But FYI, The Zombies, The Rascals and Flo & Eddie are not forgotten--their fans remember them and some occasionally perform. They're all over TH-cam, Ed Sullivan and nostalgia shows. Your presentation showed you weren't knowledgeable about the subject. Do better.
Whoever heard of the Tremalays? Guys, it's Tremalos, rhymes with toes.
By the way ,its The Tremeloes
Treadontoes

The album "Odessey and Oracle" by The Zombies is an absolutely fantastic album from the 60s. Well worth a listen to anyone that's a fan of that era.

Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You; The Devil's Answer
The Nice - America (2nd Amendment) (Keith Emerson's band)
Roads End - Why
Mason Williams - Classical Gas
I thought for sure that Moby Grape would have made this list...

I was born in 1963, and the only groups that I've never heard of on this list are Clear Light, the 60s Nirvana group, Silver Apples & The Creation.
Original NIRVANA were known in England- they inspired Pete Townshend.
What's with the Yardbirds footage in the middle of the Zombies segment?

Silver Apples? WTH is that and what song did they do or The Creation either??? I never heard of them at all?
I bought a Silver Apples cd a few years back. My brother recorded one track back in the late sixties, and we both thought it was great. I was a bit disappointed with the cd, though. My taste in music has changed some, I guess.
