In most places therapists are licensed by the state medical board and they could suspend or revoke the therapist's license for ethics violations.

Story #2: Regardless of the husband, which is a whole other can of worms, the therapist *needs to be reported.* That is actually malpractice, and it is extremely unethical and illegal, and if they are doing it to you, there is no telling how many other people they are performing unethical practices on in who knows what other ways as well. If this sort of thing happens to you, you should file a complaint with your state's licensing board. You do not need to have proof, if you have good reason to believe it is actually happening (which this person definitely does). Even if your complaint is not successful by itself, it will become part of their record and can be important evidence if other people also complain about the same sort of thing as well. There really needs to at least be a record of what happened somewhere.

Story 5: I feel for the OP. My mom didn't want her cancer announced on FB. Her mom went ahead and did it anyways. My mom was mad because she doesn't like people fawning over her. She only wanted her family to know. Because she doesn't care for the attention of people that don't really matter to her. She wasn't ungrateful though.

If the mother in-law hacked his Facebook to announce the pregnancy the quickest fix is this:
Make a post explaining that when they do eventually have a kid they wanted to announce it themselves so they figured they'd do a trial run to see if the people they'd tell can keep it quiet, essentially if they don't keep the baby or even if they're still not sure just to take the pressure off they play it off like a dry run and noone has no know anything else.

2nd story; Yeah, your husband is going to a brothel. Leave, before he develops an opiate dependency.
3rd story: Control freak! That boy had no right to say what his sister wears. He's not the dad, and he's an In-law, which is 1 step below authority on brother.
4th Story: Not cool on the mom. She wasn't patient, and that burned her and the bridge to the daughter. Should of waited.
5th story; It was a Father-Daughter moment only getaway! No one else was invited. Him, bringing along the stepsister was a direct violation of a promise. Get the priorities straight, or its straight to the pyre to him.

Story 3: in my opinion, that story only makes sense if the family is very conservative. If that's the case, OP's clearly not the jerk, but from the family's point of view the brother in law just said out loud what everyne was thinking, hence why they said OP was the one acting out of line. If they aren't that conservative, then I suspect OP's spinning the story in her favor, but who knows ?
Story 4: Op's husband and/or MIL may be trying to presure her into keeping the baby, just saying...
Story 5: The problem is, if the step siblings come, OP feels like they're taking her dad's attention from her, but if he do thing with her and her alone, chances are the step siblings feels like he's playing favorite, so while in the particular last situation it's the dad's fault for failing to see it was a very special occasion for her, OP is also partially to blame for failing to understand the situation her dad was in and her step siblings pov.

She paid the hotel so she could enjoy celebrating her academic achievement with her dad. So her dad showing up with the step sister was a mess up. Dad should've known not to bring along someone to steal the spotlight and compete for attention. She was not wrong for canceling the hotel. She booked it for her enjoyment and she didn't go, why should she waste her money?
On the other hand, the dad was a complete AH, he knew his daughter wanted to go out with him and only him to celebrate her, then he brought the stepsister and when HIS DAUGHTER didn't want to share HER treat, he took the stepsister to the reservation and had the nerve to complain!?!

    Story 5:
I am the recipient of a rather dark story about someone I know actually terminating her pregnancy over the fact her husband and inlaws were pressuring her when she wanted to make the decision in an intimate and trusting manner whether or not to keep the baby. After terminating, she came up with a story about them stressing her into miscarriage. I did think this one went a bit too far, but to her credit, her husband never pressured her or involved the extended family in their life ever again. I don't know if she will ever tell him the truth, or if she will carry that one to her grave, but I also think you should never involve anyone outside your couple when it comes to your decision to raise kids, unless you both agree you want to reach out to people for support or advice.

I've binged a ton of these vids recently and it seems like when a pregnant person gets upset at in-laws for poor, or downright horrible behavior, the BF/Husband defends the offenders and attacks the GF/Wife. Seriously, are the people writing the stories just sugarcoating what they did to make it seem like they were the victims, or is there just more momma's boys out in the wild? I understand defending family, but that's the woman carrying your child, so mom has no right overstepping.

The last one, am I misunderstanding, or did the father have the gall to take the stepsister to the hotel that the OP was paying for, leaving the OP behind? That...is just beyond the pale. He might not be the angry guilt tripping narcissistic type like we sometimes see, but that's just messed up, even if he might have intended to take over responsibility of paying (I would hope he'd at least have intended that much). Sounds like he's a doormat when it comes to his new family's wishes, and just expects his daughter to passively go along with what they want even after she's made it clear she wants one on one personal time with him.
Yeah, going no contact makes sense in that case. He might not be loud, violent, hateful, or whatever, but it's still a toxic dynamic. Him just ignoring her feelings and wishes, caving to the demands of others. I can certain understand that he lives with them which would put pressure on him to make them happy, but it's his responsibility to stand up for his kid. Her wishes aren't unreasonable, and his new family should have the decency to respect that she wants alone time with her father as well, especially when they're the ones that have access to him all the time. He has made his choice that her feelings don't matter much, so he'll have to live with the consequences.

So he's being extraordinarily selfish to demand such luxury when he can't even pay for it. Also, discarding the very likely possibility that he's actually visiting a prostitute and not a spa therapist, if he's willing to steal money and then claim it's his anyway, he will continue to do that. I think the last one wasn't really the jerk. People say she is being selfish for making her dad choose between her and her other family but she isn't doing that at all, she just wants that the time she spends with his father is with her and not with the other family who she doesn't have to care about. I actually think that the dad was kind of a jerk for still going to the trip even if she wasn't going since it was their plan and she was paying for it.

I never understood the thought process these parents have by trying to include their step kids in everything they do with their other kids. I grew up with five siblings and while we do a lot of things together as family. My parents knew the importance of having one on one time with each of their kids from time to time so none of us had to feel like we’re fighting for their attention. It never felt unfair to any of us if one of us went out with a parent cause we knew we were taking turns. This dad could simply spent some time alone with op and them spent some time with his other kids.

Story #2- Hell NO, she's not the jerk for testing her therapist by telling her lies! It worked! She was opening her BIG MOUTH &telling the hubby. She's not supposed to DO that! It's called Privilege info, and it's supposed to remain a SECRET. She DOES need to try to get her license revoked! Or at least tell her off, &switch therapists.

1st story: I can see the temptation to rub OP's success in the parents faces, but no. That would just give them one more person to leech on. And they don't deserve money.
2nd story: This is either a case of paranoia or a terrible husband and therapist.
3rd story: When you're pregnant, baby equipment are essentials. Spa treatments are generally luxuries. And sometimes you can't afford luxuries. Even if you really want them. And it is never okay to use someone else's money without permission. Not even if you're married.
4th story: The brother-in-law can mind his own bloody clothes!
5th story: Man, that husband and that mother-in-law are bad at keeping secrets. And yes, OP's privacy was violated, even if it was done throught her husband's Facebook account.
6th story: The dad obviously didn't care about what OP had said. Yes, it sucks for him too, because he now has 2 groups of children vying for his attention, and they don't get along. But OP had clearly said that she didn't want the step-siblings around, because she feels overshadowed. Inviting the step-sister, while knowing that OP wouldn't want her there, and after explicitly being told no, is not okay. And then driving off with the step-sister while leaving OP behind, to go on the trip that was supposed to be for OP and which OP paid for, was probably the last straw.

I had a student therapist while my husband was in school. I was trying to work through my grandma's death and my husband's cheating on me. I knew where everything was heading; I just wanted to get through stuff before I filed for divorce. The therapist was required to record our sessions. I was ok with that since she was a student. One day I was walking through the door, putting down my stuff, and I usually am a quiet walker. My husband was sitting on the TV watching the therapist and me talking about his cheating. I grabbed the remote and took the tape out of the VCR. I walked out the door to the car and went to the therapy building at the school. I demanded (Something I usually wouldn't do) to speak with either the dean or the teacher doing student supervision. I found out where the dean was, so I went to that building and his office. I was still fuming. He saw me right away and put down the tape hard, and said "MY HUSBAND WAS WATCHING THIS WHEN I GOT HOME, WTFH" he was a bit shocked at my forcefulness. The therapist is supposed to record how the hell did he get it. He deeply apologized and told me that he is going to do everything in his power to ban her from the medical profession but she is going to be expelled from the school. I haven't gone to therapy since because now I am afraid what I say is going to be repeated.

that last one hits home. my dad went to spend the day with his new girlfriend on valentines day, and her granddaughter, which later turned into a "camping trip", then turned into "WE (him and her) are moving to Tennessee". all the while i was stuck at home for 2 weeks with 2 dogs, and 3 kittens. WHICH THEY ONLY ASKED ME TO TAKE CARE OF AFTER THEY FIGURED THEY WERE GOING TO BE AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS, 2 DAYS IN.
the kittens froze to death, because i never knew they had them until then, and 2 days alone was too long for them.
one of the dogs ran off, i forget what breed, but its one of them that is big enough to knock you down if it jumped up on you.
and the rest of my family thinks my dad is a dumbass for trying to get an apartment, WITH A NEW FAMILY, in the next state over, when he could barely afford discounted rent from a friend.
at least all that is "somewhat" less worse than his last girlfriend. i may be couch surfing with family now, but i would prefer to be homeless than to live with her again.

Because he wasnt there so how the heck does he know? Last story - I get it. &Yeah, that was a GREAT way to get her revenge. THEY weren't about to go have a good time on HER trip, if SHE wasn't gonna be there. It might seem petty, &selfish to some, but think about feeling side swiped after Dad gets a brand new family, &starts blatantly favoring THOSE children over you. &NO, "I" haven't personally been thru anything like this, I'm just imagining how it MIGHT feel for me. Then where’s the empathy for the dad? Is that irony, or double standard. Why is it has to be YOUR opinion, and not others? What’s with all that “ME, MINE OPINION” in your comment.
And also, the dad is “blatantly favoring” the other family, because the dad didn’t turn his head toward OP 0.3s in the midst of his conversation with other people, and that’s is clear favoring toward the new family.

Also, about the story, this OP is his actual Bio daughter, the other kids belong to his New wife (whom he CHEATED on his 1st family with)! Op just wanted some one on one time w/HER Dad! What's so wrong w/her wanting &needing THAT every once &again?! Plus, he asked her already if he could bring the step daughter. She said No... that she'd rather just have it be between the 2 of them alone. It's hard to try to get to know Some1 when you've got other ppl always chiming in when you try to talk w/the person. She said No, but he sneakily SPRUNG the SD anyway under the guise of it being a "graduation surprise". Dad initially did wrong by cheating into a New marriage in the 1st place. He could've done things better &ended the 1st relationship FIRST! So, yeah... I thought about HIS side too.🤨😗

As someone who has been through therapy, story #2 is appalling. A therapist that just gives away your information (especially in regard to your health--including mental health) is not only a breach of trust, but I'm pretty sure that's unethical and illegal? It doesn't matter what the relationship between the patient and the one being told the info. If the therapist wanted to share certain things with the patient's husband, the therapist had the duty to ask and respect the patient's decision.
