About the Speaker: Gerald Pfeffer, MD, PhD
    Institution: University of Calgary
Bio: Dr. Pfeffer is a clinician-scientist in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Hotchkiss Brain Institute. He completed medical school at McGill University, neurology residency at University of British Columbia, and PhD training at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom.
His research focuses on gene discovery in hereditary neuromuscular diseases, and the mechanistic processes which cause disease pathology. This work primarily involves basic science techniques to identify novel single gene disorders. The research program also integrates clinical research by studying genotype-phenotype relationships, and findings from paraclinical investigations.
    About the Series:
NAF is producing a series of monthly educational webinars that focus on one type of Ataxia at a time. Each month we will feature a different type. Clinical experts will join us to take a look at the causes and symptoms of the disease, the typical diagnostic journey for those affected, and what to expect for clinical care. Research experts will teach us how the disease is studied and give an overview of the current state of research and drug development.

I am a carrier of this but I am certain this is my diagnosis. I have all the symptoms and abnormal mitochondria. I well believe it can be dominant.
