    Purchased this to replace a guide pulley th-cam.com/users/postUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.

    By flipping the front pulley, the deck would only turn half as fast, so you wouldn't want to use it to mow the grass any more. Looks like you could have flipped the intermediate pulley (the one at 8:20) instead and gotten the same result. And then you could still use it with the deck on it.
    Of course, if you have no intention of using it to mow the grass, you could _still_ flip that second pulley, and get even *_more_* speed out of it.

      @@dionbecker3496 you need to put a solid live rear axle in it and run a separate transmission. Then you can have two separate ways to change gear ratios. 1 will be the pulley ratio from the engine to the trans and two will be gear ratios from the trans to the rear. That gives you tons of options to go as fast or slow as you can handle driving it lol.

    One just so you know they saw that carburetor with filter and shut off valve on eBay for 20 bucks. 2 why wouldn't you just drill the pulley and put a couple set screws instead of drilling through your crankshaft. 3 to change the rear belt all you do is slide a screwdriver through the rear pulley add use a crescent wrench to loosen the nut you don't have to take the rear end loose

      If you put a bigger carb on it, it will do nothing about its top speed... more power, yes, maybe depending on the size and flow of your ports in the heads... the only thing that judges the speed would be the pulleys/gears.. it may get to the top speed faster and improved or worsened response, but carbs have nothing to do with the mowers top speed... rpms and gear/pulley ratio is where the speed comes in👍..

    Grade 8 bolts are made to hold things together, fastening one thing to another. They are not made for shear strength.. they will snap when the shear force is too high where as a grade 5 bolt will bend and flex before it breaks. Most people think a grade 8 or hardened bolt is the best you can get and you should use them in place of a grade 5 if you need something stronger and that’s just not the case unless they are being used to fasten one thing to another.

    • @chud327
      @chud327  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
