- This big seal bull could not have survived with this fishing line entanglement. No marine animals of any size can adapt to any waste in the ocean. Be it fishing gear or plastic. The state of our oceans and how marine animals are affected by this proves that these things do not belong in the ocean. We need better law enforcement to prevent fishing gear from ending up in our oceans.

With you guys doing this all day everyday you would think the seals would catch on and know the routine by now! Lol "If i go on this beach the big scary humans will run at us and chase us down and then bag us up!" Lol But the seals still do it anyways and always go to the same spots! Lol which is obviously good for you guys to save them! But you would think they would stop showing up and go somewhere else ya know? 🤷🏼 thanks for sharing guys keep up the amazing work you do!! 😊😊

Big Mama wasn't too happy, but now can heal, eat good, and have a healthy pup! The second big bull was thankfully cleared of his nasty line very good! Thank you OCN for saving these big and hard to deal with adults!

It's highly unlikely. If a seal gives birth to twin pups, one would be abandoned.
It was sickening to see a chunk of that big bull caught in that tangled line. From Wally driving like a mad man, to Tony chasing and netting him, to Kat cutting the line and to Angela securing the pole, it took all of you to save his life. Well done!🦭♻️🙏

A question for OCN- Tony mentioned them not using the bloodied net anymore that day. I’m guessing that is to avoid possible infection to the rescuers or other seals. Do these nets get a special disinfectant treatment at the end of the day?
soaking it in the ocean for an hour would wash it clean of blood.

Hello, I have seen that when you open the zippers sometimes it is difficult for you and they do not slide well due to the sand, I advise you to put sewing machine oil or three in one, greetings from Spain, you are the best
We have tried different systems, but it seems that we will simply have to deal with zipper issues sometimes. 🙂

I didn't catch what was said about reusing that net for the day... But at least this big guy had alot of fight in him. Not good for the OCN crew, but great for the outlook if his survival. ❤
Because of blood and possible pus from infected wound, wouldn't be able to use net again until washed. Could cause cross contamination to another seals open wound or worse for team A infection to their own open skin or wound exposure 😊

Poor mama did not look very strong. I hope that she and her baby will be OK. The bull was really calm. That was a horrible entanglement. It's so true that many hands make light work. Every time I see Kat & Wally I feel sad knowing that they are no longer part of the team. I hope that they are enjoying life back in Iceland. Thanks everyone.

That poor seal bull, I'm so glad you were able to remove that fishing line entanglement. You're absolutely right, better law enforcement is needed, I don't know much about it, but are there any penalties in place for fishermen who throw these tangled lines into the sea? I suppose it would be difficult to enforce but it's horrible seeing what these poor seals suffer because of them. Another great job, guys, well done.

Thank you all for your continued diligence and rescues. It must be so hard for you seeing so much hurt and the never ending supply of them. One fun thing is when the other seals escape to the ocean they will tread water with their heads up watching what is happening on the shore to their friends. Once the captured seal is back in the ocean they all begin leaping and diving.
