PlayStation 3 supports mouse and keyboard by default, and they never allow to use this in any game, wii and ps2 also was compatible with keyboards and you know you only do this por typing in online games. So sad but i think this not going to happen 😥

Don't forget that Microsoft Office programs like Word and PowerPoint has been on iOS & OSX (Apple), and Android devices and computers too which also happen to be competitive brands for Microsoft in terms of the computer department (Windows vs Apple) and mobile smart device department (Windows phone vs iPhone vs Samsung phones).
If I'm not mistaken, the Switch OS is based on FreeBSD, That explain why the keyboard is supported, And also why the switch is easy to develop for (Becuase it uses a PC OS)
How cool would it be if, when Super Mario Maker comes out on the Switch, you could connect a wireless mouse to the Switch and make levels that way? When your on the go, you use the touch screen, when your on the TV, you use a wireless mouse, just like Mario Paint!

Just the fact that they included so many USB ports tells me that they have plans for peripherals to work with the Switch. I myself don't REALLY need another crappy Nintendo web browser for the Switch but I would love TH-cam, Netflix and Twitch apps and a keyboard could be useful for them. Hopefully they also add mouse support at that time.

If it's anything like the Wii, the mouse will also be available. I used the mouse and keyboard with homebrew applications on the wii. I couldn't find anything that worked with the mouse on a legitimate program, but it still may have hidden functionality.
It is useful in that it's much faster entering text with a keyboard than selecting letters with a cursor while the system is docked. Yeah, you're not going to have to use the keyboard that often, but it's definitely useful. In handheld mode though, it's kind of pointless. That reminds me, I wonder why Nintendo doesn't allow you to select letters using the motion controls? Supposedly, the Joy-Con can be used as pointers, like the Wii remote, though we haven't seen a game do this yet. I guess we'll see it whenever World of Goo is released. Nintendo would be smart to add it as a base level text entry feature. Now, if Nintendo ever adds a web browser or, well, literally anything but games, having the ability to use a wireless keyboard is an awesome feature.

Keyboard I have does not function properly, it functions as if the keyboard is being used a controller and the keys are mapped all strange and it doesn't allow me to type with the letters on the keyboard screen. I'm a little bummed out about that. Its generic keyboard though, Wal Mart brand. Well not actually Wal Mart, but one that they sell. Its a "Onn" brand. They needed to update it Mouse seems to work fine but there is no cursor.
If the Switch Pro Controller functions as a DirectInput controller on PCs, and USB keyboards work on the Docked Switch, then maybe you guys could try hooking up a USB DirectInput controller to the Docked Switch? Just to see if it works.

My problem is that the USB keyboard I put in keeps switching to English (US) layout, when I want it to be on German. But every time I turn it to German with the controller, then press a button, the keyboard layout switches to English. And this is occuring with Animal Crossing New Horizons. I have USB keyboard set to German in my system, so why does it keep switching for AC?
