    you're so right about the pigment a little goes a long way and I've also noticed when using one color that putting a bunch in doesn't always make it any darker than if you use a little. I need to try that Silplastic. Those really turned out great Steve.

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah true about adding too much pigment, also if you keep adding more it can eventually ruin the integrity of the urethane and even inhibit the cure! Silplastic is awesome, it’s a pretty typical fast cast urethane but it has a little longer working time, about 5 min, which allows me to get it into my pressure pot when I’m pressure casting. Also it has a little flex to it making it less brittle than some casting resins. Thanks so much you guys, hope all is well with you! Cheers😄🎃👍

    That was so awesome Steve that urethane really captures the details and gives it a nice skin. I am loving this process and cannot wait to see more!!

      Thanks brother, glad you are digging this series, there is sooooo much more to come too! But yeah this is a great way to cast props when you need them to be a little more light weight, cuz solid resin can be heavy! 😜👍🎃

    Dude! That’s incredible! Seriously, these are already so much cooler than anything you’d see in stores! 🤯 If you ever start selling these, I’ll be first in line. Also, when are you going to get your own Netflix show making stuff like this? Let’s start making phone calls!!!

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha well thanks so much buddy, you are too kind! A Netflix show, hmmm, I think for everyone’s sake I should stay behind the camera, didn’t you see my cow video hahaha!! 🤣🤣🤪🛸🐄👽

  • @FraidyZone
    @FraidyZone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Amazing, Steve!!🤩🙀As long as it's the correct gauge, aluminum,etc. is there a certain brand/manufacturer of armature wire that you prefer? Hey, I think I think I'm going to have to start small with my sculpting. Maybe a potato, or a donut, or even a...donut hole!🤪😅✌Thanks for another inspiring video!

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks again so much Fraidy! Haha a potato, how about that mashed potato Devil’s tower!!?? So no specific brand for armature wire, I usually get mine from a small mom n pop FX shop here where I live called Motion Picture FX Company because I love to support them. But you can get different size spools of it even on Amazon too. Yeah just make sure you get a gauge that will work well for your project! Not sure what the correct gauge would be for a donut hole or potato though, haha! Seriously though maybe you should start with a simple lil alien head sculpt, it would be right up your alley and pretty basic, and you could always make it an alien potato if you want! 🤣🤪👍

    • @FraidyZone
      @FraidyZone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GrimwoodHollow Yeah! The mashed potato Devil's Tower!!🤣🤣I'd have to sculpt the potatoes, then boil 'em, and mash 'em, and then...FINALLY.... Ok, never mind. I like your alien head idea a thousand times better!😅🙌

    I usually slap my hand over the mold hole to distribute powder or mica evenly lol. They came out smooth! Is the Foam 3 rigid or any little bit squishy? I totally save my foam off cuts as filler for bigger pours. They look great! Looking forward to the body video!

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much brother! Yeah the Foam-It 3 is a super rigid polyurethane foam, no squish at all! The 3 stands for 3 pound density and it expands over 18 times the volume, but it is super strong! A little really goes a looooong way with this stuff! It’s not a self skinning foam though so probably just best for filler! I feel like Smooth-On foams can be hit n miss, I’ve had some issues with their foams before, especially their soft polyfoams. But this stuff was great! Thanks again bud!😄👍🎃

    I really enjoyed watching you cast your Pumpkin Imps! 🙂
    One question; When you were mixing the foaming solution, what causes rising foam to form? 🤔

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks again AllieKate, glad you liked it! This is a rigid polyurethane foam product, when you mix part A and part B together it causes a chemical reaction resulting in rising foam. There are many different types and densities, this was a 3 pound density and it expands over 18 times the volume of the material you weigh out! It’s pretty awesome! Thanks again! 😄🎃👍

      @@putthemintheironmaiden6328 Hey buddy everyone has to start somewhere, and I think it’s awesome your are taking that first leap! Just go for it and have fun, that’s what it’s all about! And the more you do it the better you’ll get, it’s all about practice and gaining experience! It’s sometimes very helpful to look back on your early sculptures and critique your own work, you will see your progress and how you’ve grown as an artist! So definitely make sure you take some photos or video, even if you don’t post it! Have fun!😄🎃👍
