Love your definition of politics as a “conspiracy” it truly is and those involved are so good at it that almost everyone overlooks it. It’s not a choice when you’re forced into 1 of 2 boxes
100% because of the money behind it. A third or more side would never have a chance without massive monetary backing and some monetary incentive from those backers. Funny that if Musk wasn't so right wing he probably could have funded a green party for Tesla backing.
[==========SPOILER BLOCK==========] I think that White was feeling the noob pressure of Red and thought he would be next to suffer the bonus steal so he traded on 3 to make his kill the least profitable in a board sweep and fed the game to get the higher placement.
Tbf feeding a game to get 2nd isn’t too bad of an idea if you’re overwhelmed by how many potential outcomes there could be. But ig for that to be true he’d have to rely on you making all those kills so ig not
Yeah same thought, perhaps they could tell pete was a good player and was setting up to kill someone and was eager to break the "peace". I believe they knew what they were doing and getting a quick 2nd over a long game/long shot at 1st by the card ordering who dies next. They are master at the end of the day
I too love this map, Pete! It’s a rather unique layout with the two heavies on one side, the single block on the other, and then the nice jumble in the middle. It makes you think, and it’s far from boring. Awesome game! 🗺️
Hey Pete, love the content. New viewer here, for the past month or so! I wanted to give a response and ask a few things about your politics/conspiracy take. 1) What about covid seems like we didn't get the whole story in your opinion? Also is it not more likely that virology + Chinese safety culture + public health policy = very complicated, and thus most people struggle to follow each, let alone all three factored in together? 2)I am curious as to what you meant by politics being "binary" or "false dichotomy". I would say politics has numerous conspiracies within it, in every country, but is itself not a conspiracy/conspiracy theory. It is how a society governs itself. It is necessary for us to ever have "winners" and excess of anything we need or want imo. I will say I do understand the general sentiments on both of these topics. I would also remind you and anyone else feeling this way, or observing the reality of polarization, to please understand that we are in a war of information and propaganda. From companies, to countries and even influencers themselves. Primarily the big 20 corps in the world and China/Russia are trying to stir up people everywhere. If you wish to not go in depth on this in the TH-cam comments, I totally get it lol. I will still enjoy the daily uploads !😅
I totlly agree with your 2 point. Politics itself it's not a conspiracy, it's how the singular states of the world that treats politics that way that it trasforms into some kind of conspiracy Especially now with wars, inflation sky rocketing and the build uo tense in all of our world we are currently living in a giornalism full of propaganda fake news and use of our perception to the sake of others.
Great questions. I'm happy to go into depth in the forum on my discord server. Or the Q and A thread. If you want to ask questions in either forum I'd be very happy to get to them.
The old joke with politics is "you get the government you vote for". While theoretically we are free and could make whatever choice we want the degree that that choice is dependent on the will of others makes it inconsequential at best. Also, when the masses have little to no education and interest in policy they make that decision based on advertising and peer pressure. The ignorance of society at large, the infusion of huge amounts of money (meaning influence by corporate entities and influence of low information voters), and the perverse incentive of politicians to hold power at all costs is enough of a perfect shit storm to render the pollitical system almost completely broken.
My government (US) regularly engages in private illegal conspiracy. Unfortunately, this is merely a result of the system we have built. 1. Most relevant executive action is classified. 2. Declassification occurs after 30 years, so "illegal or harmful action" won't ruin your career. 3. Acts like the Patriot Act per the letter of the law enable horrific behavior in the executive branch. E.g., merely of the declassified examples that we have to date, the US government has directly caused 60+ regime changes in 2nd/3rd world countries with whom we have vested economic interest. I love my country :// The obvious distinction with a conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theories are evidence sparse. Often, additionally, bothering yourself with discrediting or believing in these theories serves you nothing. Seeking the truth where the evidence is slim is (to me) a noble endeavor, but in most cases it eats up your life. You would better served spending your time making the community about you into a better place. Also, I love prog world dom
With the politics thing, their are other options, its just no one votes for them enough to make them options. So our freedom to vote is determined by what the majority thinks. The majority just thinks one or two ways, and everyone else just falls in line, ether voting for who they think is closest to their views, or they don't vote at all. In certain towns however you can vote for whoever as major, and in many towns we have had Animals as majors because people didn't like any of the people choices. However the more people you have in a community the less chance their is of Third or Fourth party options, as people tend to follow only two types of thinking, and if they don't they tend to not vote instead of voting for that third or Forth party.
Hey Pete, Recently, I've been throwing the flag in surrender when the going gets tough. (Whilst not a bot out, still not a great move) Before, I would fight or see it through to the end. Any short advice for me Sir? Thanks, 🙏🏻 GL&GG
Don't give up. Be a good neighbour in most situations, but you need to know when to go bad. Play game modes you're good at if you want to win (for me, it's the meta settings), play other ones if you want to LEARN. Avoid luck based maps/settings if it frustrates you getting unlucky. That's the basics. It's hard to go into detail because decision-making is very situational. If you're simply not good at the game / you are an impatient person or hold grudges against players that attack you, then Risk might not be for you... you can try and learn from watching good players, but if you don't get it, you simply don't get it.
Thanks James. I've gotten myself to Master playing Meta primarily but where I would play 2-3 times a day, I don't often play that in a week recently. Maybe expanding my map horizons will do the trick..
@@Rushfelt33 it all depends on what your overall goal is. If you want to start playing in tournaments, you'll need to know more about maps and settings. If you're simply playing to see if you can get to GM and possibly climb the leaderboard, then meta settings it is.
The conspiracy theory about politics is very interesting but in my opinion it's not completely true... Im okay with the statement that is contradictory saying "Politics needs be like this because it is the way it needs to be but at the same time you are free😊" and it's kinda of a conspiracy, but only the part with "You are free"!!! In my opinion, i see politics from a realism pov (especially taking Hobbes's statements in "De Cive") politics needs to exist, so that we can have a state and we can interact peacefully with each other but at the same time it needs to give laws to us and order because without them there would be nomstate; and without a state we would live in a "nature normal state" where everyone could do everything they want and have real freedom, but having freedom gives to us the possibility to kill each other or do what themfuck we all want basically😂😂 What im trying to say is that WE ARE NOT FREE, AND WE NEED TO BE LIKE THAT TO LIVE WITH EACH OTHER!!! If we were free there would be no state, because to form a state we all need to give some rights and so not being free. So, the real lie/conspiracy about politics is (especially in the USA) this nonsense statement that we are all free and "We are living in the best freedom state in the world🎉😎" when in order to have a state u cant be free. But the statement " Politics it's just the way it is" in my opinion is correct and it needs to be it, because with no politics there would be no order, state, peace or anything just anarchy everywhere and we would all trying to kill each others😂 Sorry for the long comment but i love discussing about philosophy, especially politics and sorry for my bad english, im Italian and it's not that easy❤😅 Btw nice video as always Pete!!!
The part of your comment I'm responding to is the understanding that basic liberty theory implies that in order to give others the maxmium possible liberty sometimes your own must be infringed. We understand this is a matter of degree. I am not advocating for a Hobbesian state of nature.I would like to see a world where we all aren't utterly enslaved by rich people. The point where it's normal to take psychiatric medication to get by on a day-to-day basis or to conclude that having children is too expensive are pretty clear signs of how sick the world we are living is at the moment.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy In an ideal world, "Socialism” (or some variant) would work perfectly... Equal pay, free Healthcare, etc. It all sounds great. Capitalism means that we are "enslaved" by richer people, sure but I think it proves prosperous long-term because it's competitive. In a more Socialist like state, you aren't motivated to improve with equal pay. You have to work hard for your healthcare, and your pay, and that, sure, isn't "complete" freedom, but we aren't in a perfect world, and that's how it works unfortunately. The only solution to all this mess would be to follow the theory of Marx and we all create on our state in peaceful and free manner, but seeing how the USA is treating socialists and the West in general, i think there will be nothing at all ever🥲🥲
Why do we put up with politics? The only other system that has been invented that I am aware of is ruler/dictatorship which is generally worse for the subjects/people. There is a requirement for infrastructure and criminal justice etc. Unless we'd rather live like animals. Overthrowing the government always seems like a good idea to some people but it's pretty rare that the replacement is an improvement.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I'd be interested to hear more on your thoughts of alternatives to putting up with politics. I wasn't trying to suggest that you were advocating overthrowing the government, sorry if that's what came across.
The issue is not that we have governments but that those we have do not restrict those in power from abusing their power (as they were set up for that purpose rather than in the interests of the people). The same goes for the legal system, which has no interest in justice and is simply to maintain order for those in power and largely exempts them from any punishment.
