This sounds amazing. A lot of people try and get a doom tone with a ton of fuzz but it breaks up and loses the sustain and drone-y quality. The aluminum neck sounds amazing and the 2x15 cab is key to maintain that low end.
Dude ive watched this video probably a dozen times. Was really big into listening to drone and this made me actually start buying equipment and playing. Been at it almost 2 years; changed my life and given me a really cool hobby.
@boatakk I got an orange cr120 a half stack, a peavey keyboard Amp for synth and peavey bass 300 combo. I split my signal into 3; got highs going into the synth, then into the kb Amp, mids into my cr120 and 4x12 and my lows into the combo 300. It fills a lot of sonic space. Pedals I'm using are a blues driver into a model t preamp, chorus on the synth and a behringer bass overdrive for the bass Amp. I play bass and guitar thru this rig and for being entirely solid state, it's monstrous. Got a Squier jazz bass and Squier Tele. Really want a peavey t60 like yours, but I'm still trying to find one in the wild I can actually play. I've visited lots of used guitar stores in the southeast but never seen one. How do you like yours? Are you able to achieve a wide variety of tones with it? What'd you think of the original neck?
@@Sunn_on_my_D damn man that is an awesome setup! I used to have a cr120 head and it is a great amp. I run a similar full set up with a Peavey mark 8 head into a 215 cab. I have a video on here called "electrical guitar company t-60 + sunn amps" where I'm running my full set up. The synth adds a whole new element also. Good stuff. The T-60's stock pickups are a little weak. I have to raise the bridge pickup pretty close to the strings to make it sound hot enough. That, combined with the EGC neck, makes it sound pretty similar to a Travis Bean imo, though. I have it set up with .13-.65 gauge strings which pushes the guitar to its limit, set-up wise. Their build quality is nice, but they sound pretty average i would say. The stock neck feels like a 90s fender neck, its pretty skinny
Back in 1979 that was the shit. Had a concert lead myself. LO. Sounds particularly nice with a MXR Distortion + in front of it. Oh, in STANDARD tuning as well.
Sounded nothing like early sabbath sounds, tonys tone is very synthetic and has a dirty tone, sunn amps do more than that they do doom metal than just hard rock

I can see why Entwistle used these back in the day: th-cam.com/video/80dsyo2Ox-0/w-d-xo.html These have such an intense (and rather intimidating) attack to their tone, a great opposite to Townshend's bright-sounding Hiwatt amps.
@@boatakk Mine also has the Jensens. I may pick up a Berserker Prehistoric Dog preamp pedal which if you're not familiar is a Beta Lead inspired preamp. Hoping for the same tone but easier to move.
Hey man, I’m looking to do this kind of setup, can you explain how this works? To me it looks like you have your signal split between two amps and one is a bass amp? I love the tone you got out of this and I want to try and recreate with my combo amp
Hey man, I am running the guitar into a dod 250 and wren and cuff box of war pedal. The signal goes into a ditto looper x2 in bypass mode. The x2 has two outputs; one output is going into the sunn beta lead combo, and the other output into the sunn concert lead head.

In that video my bass is WAY crazier, as I'm essentially running a guitar and a bass set up at once. Thanks for watching!
Is that a Peavey T-60 with an aluminum neck? Like one of those late 70s Kramer aluminum necks? Great sound for sure. Love that kind of tone. Some folks say Sabbath, which is the usual reference, but this sort of stuff is more inspired by Sabbath rather than actually sounding like Iommi. I used to have a Peavey T-40 bass. A really great bass, really strong neck. I'd always bash the basement ceiling boards with that because it was so long! This was way back in 1983-1989 I had that...should never have sold it.
