USA still has to go a long way, to come to european standards in aquariums. Happy, that guys like Pecktec are doing good work for years, showing real aquariums.
Yes & no. No one should have to shell out hundreds to thousands for fish tanks, supplies & fish.
Ideally, most of it can be sourced from your own backyard or bought cheaply from your local quarry or home improvement store.
There should probably only be 2-6 high-end shops in the US & everything else should be cheap & simple.
What's frustrating is the price-gouging by online sellers for substandard fish.
Pecktec is an OG of the TH-cam fish game. Before the new wave of TH-camrs came in with rimless UNS tank, pecktec was the go to guy. I would say more traditional approach to fish keeping rather than aquascaping approach
@@MeanOldLady it depends, many people really like all the great and expensive stuff regardless, since it sometimes is the super nice looking tanks. Though I do get it, there's a huge gap between doing very nice aquascapes and then just starting out. But it is an expensive hobby, and a hobby when you put psychology, biology, physics, and so many other factors into play. That's why I love it.

I’m a local. Been to Dallas North Aquarium. One of the best options we have in the area, which is honestly very sad... Their prices range from high to extremely high and their fish are often in bad health.

I was in Dallas Texas on the 2nd flight delayed for 2 days I would have went to see aquarium if I would have known what a bummer
I agree MJ, the plant selection is not as popular as in Europe. Hopefully that changes. In Houston. We have ADG, they help a lot in plant selection.
OMG!, I didn't know u had come, now I'm so bummed I missed u. I was there all day Saturday, we literally closed with them. I would've loved a picture/hug from Amsterdam.

If you ever make it back to the USA and find yourself anywhere near Missouri, there is an AMAZING aquarium in Springfield at the world headquarters for Bass Pro. The first time I went there I accidently spent 6 hours just being amazed. I hope you get to experience it sometime.

I live in the Dallas area. It is so difficult to find a good aquarium store. We are usually stuck with the big box pet stores where I refuse to buy anything. I have a small local store in Plano tx it’s good but really small.

I live in Boston area. The aquarium industry is in shameful condition here. It's a desert. Piecing together a tank is like scraping the bottom of a rusty can. I wonder why that is.
