  • PLEASE READ: I meant to say that the company has been around for over 350 years, not 250. I also found that there is another older pomade, also from England, which is Morgan's Pomade, from 1873. I was aware of the existence of this pomade during the time of filming of this video but I just did not know from what year it came from.

    this was originally was manufactured for women . Hence the lavender scent. Plus the guys had their brylcream and morgans pomade. (That was established in 1873 btw).

      Rock-N-Roll- Joker That's really interesting, the more you know! I guess that also explains why this product doesn't give a shine as high as it's supposed to for its texture, the high shine look was for guys while women needed a subtle gloss to the hair which isn't as obvious as on the men.

      However, lavender is not by default a lady's scent. Many traditional pre-1950's european after shaves, men's toilet waters etc. are lavender based. Just think of Caron pour un homme for example, or some products by D.R. Harris.

      Goes to show the difference in cultures because here in the uk lavender wasnt intentionally used in mens products.

      It said so under the description that it is just for women. But I call bullshit on that. I might do another pomade review to prove that can also be used for men like what this dude did... This time I'll do one on Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine. It works as a great stand alone for my pooffy hair.

    I use it all the time & have used it for years.
    It's not greasy or oily at all & just smells so fresh every time.
    It has shot up in price in recent years.
    But one jar lasts ages..
    I love Yardley Lavender hair pomade.
    Brilliant product...

    Went to restock on Brylcreem earlier today at my local pharmacy but they were all sold out so I bought this Brilliantine instead. This might be my second favourite and it reminds me of the old glass Brylcreem jars from the 50s

    • @pomadesandpompadours6309
      @pomadesandpompadours6309  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mohammed Qureshi I'd apply the base product first then conb it through, then the top coat and run it over my hair (not through). That way the shine is more prominent and it wouldn't decrease the hold of the base product as much compared to running it theough

    What do you recommend for modern slicked back asian thick hair ? I want it to hold throughout the day and no shine at all.

      Guck nich Are you looking for a tighter finish or a more disconnected and loose texturized style?

    • @Sheenoli

      Asian Greaser tighter finish

    • @pomadesandpompadours6309
      @pomadesandpompadours6309  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Guck nich I recommend Nostalgic Grooming Matte Water Based - it's an unorthodox water based pomade, and one of the few products that provide a true traditional tight and slicked look without the shine at all, with a matte finish. Seems perfect for you. It has a medium hold. I never used it and only tried their firm water based but from what I can say, Nostalgic products have great control and endurance. So check out Nostalgic Grooming Matte Water Based.

      Guck nich It's sold out on their official website, but there's some stock available at www.pomadeclub.com/nostalgic-grooming-matte-pomade-mandarin.html so you can get yours from there currently.

      Asian Greaser thank you for your detailed answer ! really appreciate that. but from my own experience with water pomades (had layrite), they do not last very long and break apart eventually.

      black rose red rose Just use it as a normal hair product, just like I did in the video - apply to damp hair and comb it in. It's meant to give a light hold and a high shine. Or you can put it on top of a heavier holding product for shine

      After washing your hair, and drying it with a heat blower, if you choose to use this product, you can do so. Only a small application will be necessary to use, and nothing more until a week or so later. It can be a excellent training tool used for your hair, training yiur hair to tte desired look you prefer your hair to look like when you comb it.

    You’re supposed to use a boar bristle brush to flatten your hair and press it to your head. Look at all the guys from the 20s they use brilliantine for that reason.

    I am wondering if you have the poofy, dense, afro-ish Asian hair, like when Brad Pitt had a buzz cut? If you do, as I do, how did you grow it out, or keep it maintained

      Fortunately, I don't have very thick Asian hair like that - I'm more on the finer side. Here my bangs were no longer than my eyebrows. Like any other Asian, my hair spikes up when it's short but the good news is that I need less time and length for it to lay down compared to most other Asians. If you go back all the way to the first video I've ever uploaded, you can tell that my sides were very short and somewhat spiky.
