Well maybe Sims 4 has a shorter build time because
1) You don't have to wait 30 seconds for all the patterns to load every time you want to restyle something, and
2) You're not agonizing over which of the 9000+ options you should choose for each little knick knack and bed sheet.
there are Japanese homes that are very narrow and if you could make one of those where its both rather small and narrow (could be a tiny build) that would be cool :D
Building is probably quicker because you have color swatches, and don't have to wait for the "Create a Style Tool" to load. As well as spend time picking a color on the scale. Which this could be both a good and bad thing. Efficient, yes. Creativity, not as much.
I've found building in sims 4 a lot quicker too... I think it's because of the limitations with no CASt, cfe, or terrain editing. Great build!
Don't get me wrong - cfe and terrain editing were awesome! I much prefer building in sims 3, while it may take me longer I can achieve more detail and be more creative :)
TheMreezi YES!!!! cfe made each house unique with landscape and much more detailed outdoors. Now no matter the great house all the same flat ugly terrain!!

This house is amaaaazing! I've attempted a narrow/shipping container build and it turned out nowhere near as awesome as this. You're so imaginitive with the floor plans/originial 'shell' of the building which is what I have the most trouble with. My houses all look like nicely furnished boxes.
This is by far my fav home and I've watched a lot of house builds so far. It's small but there is space for everything it's not cluttered and floor plan is nicely done! Good job!
OMG! I did this same narrow house in Sims 3 with my own twist on it. I really liked how it came out. And I did put a roof garden with a few sitting chairs on the roof. I also found that googleing house images helps your building skills in the sims develop, and gets the creative juices flowing as well:)
I downloaded this build in newcrest and it's amazing! I did add a double bed in the sort of "secondary room" and an easel in the kitchen-esc area.
After watching James do his interior I'm always inspired to go and decorate. Love the builds!
Really cool house build! The modern style looks so nice :) I actually like that you put the study downstairs, although it is The Sims. I imagine if you were to be doing office work it could be nice to be kind of ''away'' from where the rest of the family are watching t.v etc :)
Also, it's cool that you kind of left the roof empty. There's a lot of things possible to put there, like you said^^

Pretty sure this is my favorite house James has made so far! I'm planning on getting Sims 4 the day it comes out for Mac and I'm pretty sure this will be my first download from the gallery. Awesome job as always!

You decorated this house so well it almost feels like you were building in The Sims 3 as in without the lack of so much decor. I hope that made even just a little sense. :)

I love the kitchen a lot yesterday when watching the room build you had the red cabinets up for like a second and I love them so glad you used them here
This is great! I love the overall design. And I've loved the thought of a floor plan with the main living area was on the second floor. I love in an Art Deco 1920's house so I love seeing the different styles. I wish you inserted the original house that inspired the design. Maybe an idea when you find inspiration again and do a video :) The only change I would make is some sort of glass fencing on the roof. You have stairs that lead to an empty roof, which it looks really cool, and the outside hallway for it looks terrific, but I would have liked to see what it would have looked like with some sort of edge. I have a Mac so I currently can't play, therefore I have no idea what kind of fencing options the game has. But either way this turned out awesome.
The Sim Supply This house would be epic, as a series of them, like an apartment, like in TS2 Apartment life, those modern 2 story apartments, 4 of them :) Love the design & interiors!

Currently, objects added to a lot in buy debug do not remain when they are downloaded from the gallery. I liked what you did with them, but, unfortunately, people who download the home cannot see it. Just giving you a heads up! Thanks for the awesome video.
I recently did a similar thing where I found an image of a house on Google that I liked and built a house based on it. Its pretty cool to see that you did that as well! XD I really enjoy watching your build videos and I definitely find them inspiring.

Omg I just built that house today :D It's really nice in Newcrest because I did all of the buildings in a modern style. I also took inspiration from your nightclub with a pool and tried it too and it looks really effective in the world because everything is so spaced out in Newcrest
That red wall material you weren't sure about looks like board formed concrete to me. I'll have to look in game because I haven't seen it, but I like it!

i have 3 bathrooms in my house. one is on suite, one is a downstairs guest bathroom (also there is a bedroom downstairs). the 3rd is between 2 rooms. you should put bathrooms in between bedrooms or just rooms for convenience

Love this house, reminds me "shotgun style" homes found jammed next to eachother as in San Francisco also believe this is common in the northeastern USA:)
How did he move the objects slightly? Like only a little bit forward, or a little bit of an angle for a chair? And I've also seen in another house construction video of the person making a painting bigger? Like they enlarged it while it was placed????

Hold down control shift and tab together and then when you go alt and click and turn it and stuff itll do it slightly and to turn it off do control shift and tab

I designed a house very similar in ny sims back in sims 3 and i still use the desing to this day.
Hahahahhaa, I played this video in half speed to watch the build easier but then I just kept laughing because James sounds drunk

I love the idea of the small tight house, 'cause now houses are built pretty narrow since they want to have more houses on a plot to get more money rather than have a big house and less space to build houses.

Just came across this video again... a few days ago I was roaming through your Sims gallery after a small family house that only had basegame, Get to work and City living things.. wish I had seen this though it would have been perfect! 😂
Think I watched this one or maybe even two years ago and I still think about your Potted plant talk every time you set down a potted plant in one of your house/roombuilds lol
And did they not have the moveobjects cheat on the beginning... how did you survive without it? It's my (Sims) life saver lol
So those rectangle houses that go back all the way, in Ohio and Louisiana, they call them "Shotgun Shell" or "Shotgun Rack" houses because they're so narrow. But you can fit a lot of people into a city when building that way.
Us (Detroiters) in Corktown, we have shipping container houses. It's pretty cool.
I'm so jealous of you people with fancy computers xD Mine has not got a videocard that is good enough to display the sims properly, so I can't see reflections in mirrors and I can't see through windows when the room has a ceiling xD But you have made an amazing house again James!!

Cool look but i think i would have used the area where your book cases on the second floor to do a second bathroom upstairs with two entrances one from the small bed room and another from the the living area
