Obama got nearly 69.5 million in 2008, which had been the record till 2020. In 2012, Obama got just under 66 million. Biden's 81.3 million in 2020 is gobsmacking, especially after a lacklustre campaign bereft of enthusiasm. Harris, to me, is a terrible candidate and surpassed in weirdness perhaps only by her running mate, Walz. Still, I will not be surprised if they break Biden's record and the polls could be inflating Harris to the extent they think they can 'inflate' her ballot score. Trump should get millions more votes than in 2020, though.

Meaning if Harris wins the populate vote by 5%, she probably wins the election. Conversely if she wins by the popular vote by 3%, she probably loses the election. The specific values depend on demographic trends and the decadal census which gives out electoral votes based on the population in each state. The electoral college has not always benefited Republicans and there will be a day when it longer does so, but for now that’s how the presidential election is determined per the US Constitution.
