Why is the man in the promo video chopping the firesteel with an axe?? Using a blade on one at all is weird (dulls your blade super fast), but striking it with such a heavy tool? Totally unneccesary. Mixing ferro rods with flint and steel? You strike that... Makes the ad look stupid to people who actually know how they work. Edit: They even use a knife sharpener to throw sparks... Realised this vid is mostly junk gadgets, with an occasional quality tool mixed in. Mora, Leatherman, Sawyer, etc. 18:30 shows an example of a correct way to throw sparks, although they make the tinder paracord with tinder inside it seem like a whole lot more than it is... Just carry a couple of tampons for tinder, way more tinder in that, also means you wouldn't have to pull your shelter down to get the tinder in the rope holding the thing up. Multifunctionality is fine, good even. But not this much. You're screwed if you need two functionalities at the same time if they're on the same tool. Just not practical.
