I think Satori Reader has been my best investment this summer. My reading speed and confidence has increased as well as my enjoyment. I have read the short story book you have but didnt enjoy it.
@CelineJordan I found the short stories a bit boring and I only used it as reading is important to language learning. For Satori Reader, while it started that way I have found that I've genuinely enjoyed all the stories that I've read thus far. The best part about Satori Reader imo is that you get the best of both worlds, listening practice and reading practice. I always listen to each chapter first before reading it myself.
I am studyng back english and intend to learn japanese in the futere. Loved your resoures, especially Tadoku series, but what I discovered now is that I had hard time to understand German accent hahaha
I've been slowly getting into manga and even though it's not as good as reading an actual book (for practising Japanese), I'm finding it a very enjoyable experience. And that's kind of the point too, isn't it? Im currently reading a couple of series at the same time: Yotsuba&! (Slice of life, everyone recommends this) and Slam Dunk (basketball, but also slice of life). The second one is slightly more difficult to understand, ao I'm also watching the anime. It helps a lot!
That’s true. When reading a book you need to rely a lot more on your knowledge of the language because of the lack of pictures. But as long as reading manga is enjoyable and fun it’s more effective to keep up the motivation to continue reading (at least for me) 😁 I heard quite a lot about Yotsuba before 😊 A lot of people seem to enjoy it. I‘m hesitant to pick it up because of all the grammar mistakes she makes. Does this confuse you sometimes or is it obvious enough to instantly know that it’s wrong? Enjoy! 🌻🏀
@@Seriinudesu ah yes, I know exactly what you mean. I'd say it's obvious most of the time. She's not really the person who has more dialogue, most of it is actually the other characters having conversations around her. Some chapters are actually pretty challenging! I'd say the most interesting bit from this manga is that you get a pretty accurate view into how's life for a very normal group of people during summer holiday in Japan. They play games, go fishing, go to shops, to Japanese festivals, etc. Sort of like watching a sitcom. My Japanese teacher really likes it for that reason. If you have the chance, I'd consider giving volume 1 a go 🙂
