People not getting the Cold Harbor reference is making me realize not all us paused the last few seconds of episode 1 and went over every single detail on the screen 😭
I remember doing a LOT of pausing when Irving's innie wakes up in his outie's apartment in S1E9. All the documents he looks at, the address on the envelope, his car's license plate. All really weird stuff and so fascinating. There's a lot of information for people to look at that isn't being spoon fed to us. Just have to look out for it. So much reminds me of LOST in that regard.

An interesting thing to note Scientifically is that when Helly (Outie) reviews the Footage of Her Innie kissing Mark's Innie, she seems to be entranced, almost appearing to recall the memory. Which, Events such as a First Kiss (as it would be from the Innie's perspective), leave a strong impression on the Hippocampus, aka the region of the Brain associated with Memory. The Series has dropped several questions and hints on whether a Person's Outie and Innie's Feelings transcend, if you recall, Dylan asked whether Love Transcends.
I think thats why Mark is so important for them, they're using Mark and Gemma to test if the brain can overcome severance. I believe they're trying to revive Kier himself and Gemma is a prototype, and they're testing them to see if they could bring Kier back to life WITH his memories/feelings.
I think both Burt and Irving got severed jobs to help gain intel, but where Irv does it to expose Lumon, Burt does it to help. And no, its Helena. She was the only 1 the elevator didnt ding for.

I've been noticing a huge shift in the show's popularity with the start of season 2 so I actually don't think it's that underappreciated any longer, like we've finally made it out of the trenches lol
Oh, man, I'm so pissed off about the Grand Central thing. I was in NYC last week as a tourist and decided to check out the Terminal about an hour before the cast came out. I knew of the promotion but thought it was just going to be the cubicle display, with no actors in it. A couple of hours later, when I was at my hotel and still had time to go back, I found out that they were there, Ben Stiller, Patricia Arquette, the main four minus Turturro. I even went back the next day to see if they would come out again but they didn't. Then I found out by watching Adam Scott on Colbert that they were there for *three* hours!

I think Season 1 at the time that it aired went really under the radar. But due to it being an undeniably great show, word of mouth spread around and a lot of people got to watch it months after the release, just on their own. So it was hard to gain momentum in terms of broad hype. I think now that S2 is dropping, there are more people watching it than one would expect. The subreddit is quite big for example. Really glad you guys are sticking to it. I totally get that views-wise you have to post more mainstream media, but a little Dark here and a little Severance there is quite refreshing.
To answer you question at the beginning about why people haven't heard of the show is because its on Apple TV which a lot of people just don't have to be honest; Especially with all the other subscriptions out there. Plus the 3 year break they had with the strikes and covid, so it just lived underground for a while I guess. I was like you having only heard about it a few weeks ago by chance while I used a 7 day free Apple TV trial to watch Silo that had been recommended to me and just decided to give Severance a go. Turned out to be probably the best show I think I have ever seen. Have no doubt the worldwill catch onto it soon enough, praise Kier 🤣

The show's creator Dan Erikson said that he has already written the ending of the show and the conclusion of the main plot points. They just don't know how many seasons Apple is gonna give them. He said that they could wrap up the show in either 3, 4 or 5 seasons. The no. of seasons just decide how they will develop the side plots.

Severance is one of those shows people enjoy in their own time and recommend to friends, its also awkwardly on Apple TV so doesn't get all those viral streaming numbers. Whether a show is 'water cooler chat' or all over twitter is kind of meaningless nowadays. Sometimes you get these little gems that don't really break into the pop culture zeitgeist as much. Fargo and Ozark are on the same wavelength, they're massively popular shows but they aren't the kind of shows that you'll chat about with people, they're the sort of shows you just soak in.
I mean Lumon obviously must be experimenting on Ms. Casey/Gemma and needed Mark to completed that experiment. More and more I'm convinced Lumon is making a clone or at least a clone of people's consciousness. Maybe only Mark, who's her late husband, can identify Gemma's personality traits etc. (via the scary numbers), hence the first episode ending. ps. I guess after seeing that Severance intro, I'll be interested to see you guys react to The Substance. Definitely a film made for Carter.
Hi so its not terribly obvious BUT Mr. Milchick lied ( I know shocker) it has not been 5 months its been 3 days tops and there was no parade or any reform at lumon. Detailed break down below: Day 1 (really night 1 lets say its Friday night Gala night) of his promotion: fired everyone/did recon on mark. Day 2 (Saturday): still doing recon on mark (hasn't visited his house yet this is the day mark has breakfast with sister), probably trying to find new hires for MDR. Day 3 (Sunday): visits mark at home to convince him to come in for Monday with fruit basket. He found replacements for MDR bc Milchick states it took him 48hrs to find a replacement MDR team AND complete revamp of Lumon severance offices, wellness boarded up and his own office plus a new assistant for himself. SO HE LIED TO MARK S. SAYING IT WAS 5 MONTHS IT WAS REALLY 2-3 DAYS BETWEEN THE OTC AND WHEN MARK DECIDED TO GO BACK TO WORK IRL LITERALLY A WEEKEND! Day 4 (Monday): mark decides to go to work for the first time since the incident
Again asking u to consider watch the leftovers after this. Unique plot. Go into it blind. It’s not really about solving the mystery but moreso about family, grief, religion. Lots of themes. Season 2 is goated. 3 seasons overall. Overall a quick watch with a stellar cast and emotional journey. You’d honestly be the first popular channel to watch this show and I believe it would cause a resurgence 😊

Adam said the first scene in episode one took 5 months to film on and off and that was part because of the huge camera, the guy running after him with the iPhone, Adam running with a GoPro, and Adam running on a treadmill. At least they know how many seasons they have planned and how the show will end.
In an interview, Ben Stiller said he knows how the show will end. So, they have an ending in mind, but he didn't say how many seasons he thinks the show will be. I'd guess probably like 4 seasons or so, but we'll see. Either way, this was another really good episode, showing the outie side of things. I am wondering if it's Helena and not Helly. It's interesting though, because the board wanted to send Helly R. back in there, which means if it is Helena then isn't she acting on her own? Idk how she would've managed to turn off her chip though. Her seeing Helly and Mark kissing seems to have stirred something in her, because she's most likely never experienced any sort of intimacy with anyone. I'm so curious to see how this all plays out going forward.
This episode was satisfying but it just didn't have a ton of crazy stuff to tinfoilhatspeculate about because it basically built on the season finale and the first episode but now that they gave the answers they can cook.

Made by the same producers of Love, Death and Robots, episode 5 is a short about Warhammer 40k and it’s catching fire recently with reactors. I feel like you guys would like it based on your track record

Mark Scout is in essence a coward (hence, the last scene with Mrs. Selvig). He should have torn the hairs from her scalp, but instead he got all scared. PAB. It got 14 emmy nominations though, i started to watch it because of that.
