Ya'll need to wake up! The issues we're facing are way more invasive than all this nonsense. I just had to quit my job because of it. I drive OTR and have since 1999! Millions of miles. The company I WAS working for put cameras and microphones in the truck! They deliberately put them so they can see into the Sleeper. I literally just asked them if I can have access to any video they record. They said no because it would be a "Privacy Violation"! If they watch me it's not a privacy violation, but if I watch me it is! They don't want to provide evidence that they're (NOT) spying on the drivers! They say they're NOT violating my privacy! But they can't prove that because that would be a Privacy Issue!!!!!!!
Answer is yes. As an Amazon delivery driver that finished my route FIRST a few times, coming back to the station i see managers watching drivers. Bull sh*t lie. They do watch.
One company I spoke to said the cameras are only tripped during "events", such as hard braking, lane departure... then they record 10 sec before and after the event, and send it to the camera company, who then reviews the footage and "only" sends it to the safety department if its something unsafe. But something tells me these companies use driving itself as an event.
That's BS because how can they send safety a clip of a supposed incident if it wasn't recording. That's just netradynes sales pitch/talking point. I have never in 24 years of driving commercially has a ticket OR preventable accident, so the driver facing camera is offensive and insulting to say the least
Everything is an event though, one office lady during end of orientation RIGHT AFTER I was shown truck w/ cameras they claimed to not have, she showed me someone’s else’s video and told me that cameras consider even small bumps in rd events so they stay on & that’s what every company tells drivers (only if an event) that she understood why I was passing on job cause she didn’t even agree with the cameras.
Anytime they Access the camera or microphone, it should be sent to the driver. The driver should be able to know ANYTIME they're accessing the system. The system should not be able to see into the Sleeper! The driver should be able to disable audio. No recording Anytime the truck is in park or the driver is off duty!
Yes they are constantly recording cause every movement of ur hand and road keeps them triggered! I tested it out the 1 n only job w/ driver facing camera I had for 2wks, talked so much crap and only took 3 days for boss to let me know camera on cause I eat sunflower seeds and smoke n he’s sorry they don’t like monitoring us that close just company policy😂

This is lies they can access it whenever they need to do so!
