  • In 2018, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) awarded the Colvin Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Mood Disorders Research to Benjamin I. Goldstein, M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.P.C., of the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
    He presented this fascinating talk on bipolar disorder and cardiovascular disease at BBRF's 2018 International Mental Health Research Symposium.

    The cause is multifactorial from the factors mentioned. I also think it has to do with mainly endothelial dysfunction from the mainia and depression as we know depression itself is linked to increased risk for CVD.
    Aerobic exercise helps me a lot (20 mins 2-3x a week and a simple fast 1 mile about 7 min/mile/pace).
    Anerobic exercise also helps, in the fashion of EMOMs (every min on the min) worksouts. Also saves time in the gym!
    Being calm and meditation helps, but if you are unable to meditate, you can use benzos like Klonipine.

    Diagnosed as a child and at 28 im already having heart issues

    The root cause is insulin resistance. This is the elephant in the room. Very easy to see once you understand it.
