The Revival of Rivatex Textile Company

Prof Thomas Kipkurgat; the Managing Director of Rivatex takes us through the mordenization process that has seen the institutions production levels improve. The institution has moved from having 100 tailors to 300 tailors working two shifts. The move has made Rivatex the biggest textile factory not only in Kenya but East Africa. The Spinning, Weaving and Processing sections are fully equipped with ultra-modern machines thanks to the Government’s unwavering support to ensure textile industry is fully revived and contributes to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as well as create employment.
At the moment, the facility produces 40,000 meters of finished fabric daily with a capacity of producing more than 100,000 meters, depending on the demand along with an increase on the number of spindles from the initial 500 to 16,800.
