Absolutely, humor heals almost anything and everything. I've been molested by my cousin for 3 years (he started doing it when I was around 6 if my mind serves me well), I still didn't get over it and have a long way to go, but knowing I can every weekend sit down and watch this awesome podcast just makes my life all the better. I first started watching this podcast like 3 years ago back when it was in the old house with Baddie [insert jokes about Eli not being able to reach the ceiling from the table] and it has helped me immensely with coping with the abusive household I was living in which still gives me nightmares. I managed to move away from there when I was 16 (basically last September lmao) because it was just miserable. I'm trying to pick up what's left of me now. I can't stress enough how much this podcast has helped me, and I'll never forget the brief moments of happiness I had when everything else was seemingly going wrong when watching these episodes. It showed me the light and positivity I desperately needed when surrounded by toxicity.
Anyways, enough with my rant. I hope whoever is reading this has an awesome rest of the day or night wherever you are :)

So I'm the father of a victim and I now have sole custody and am a single full time dad. My daughter was abused by Cameron Carden if anyone would like to look up the case, but with all of that said. I look up to this man's father, because when my daughter was abused, the night I found out, I sat outside the abusers house and contemplated giving the man justice myself. My grandfather knew what was happening because he's the person my daughter told about the abuse, and he called me and told me that he wasn't trying to stop me, but if I continued with my plan, he couldn't raise my daughter and that would cause her to be put in states custody. That was able to stop me, and I'm grateful, but there are times I think about it and my blood boils. When I see the video of Gary doing what he did it vicariously helps me feel a little bit better about allowing the man that hurt my daughter to continue breathing. I want to thank Gary for that! It's not much but that's all I can do!

@@jongriggs85 I'm not sure if you're looking for an exact number. I can't give you one because I don't know (I've been doing this for 19 years and never thought to keep count of that statistic). However I'm sure the data is out there somewhere. What I can tell you is that it does happen. Interestingly, most of the HT victims that run away from foster care are running back to their handler, not their family (unless they are the same). It also happens that some foster families victimize the youth in their care. Let's be honest and recognize that humans can be despicable.
There are many success stories too, which makes it difficult to overhaul the system. You don't want to destroy someone's chance at growth because someone else suffered.
The number one predictor of recidivism is educational success. When a child is on the right track with their schooling and feels hopeful about their future, they are far less likely to return to an unhealthy lifestyle. Now, if only fixing the education system was easy, we could help every child.

To the tune of Marty Robbins Big Iron
"There was 20 feet between them when Gary turned to make his play,
And the swiftness of Plauche is still talked about today,
Doucet had not cleared customs when a bullet fairly ripped,
And Gary's aim was deadly with the Big Iron on his hip"

This show just keeps getting better and better. I'm so glad that my wife helped me break through my tism and learn to appreciate dark humor and sarcasm. Being a literalist is one of the biggest struggles I've faced throughout my life. Thankfully the ones that know and love me have helped me break free from those bonds to enjoy content such as this. Well, most of the time. Sometimes, the literal meaning of something is way funnier than what was implied. You all are amazing, thank you!

You know it's a great one, when all 3 host are just looking at each other with nothing to say after Jody makes one of his jokes. Thank you for this podcast, and thank you to Jody for coming on and telling his story. This video is, by far, one of the best I’ve seen. I’m a combat veteran who also endured that kind of abuse as a child. My sense of humor is very dark, and I often have to harness it to avoid further discussion. I also worked in child services and dealt with several cases like that. It was very difficult to take that kind of work home. Anyone who has worked in child services knows how taxing that line of work can be, even more when you’ve experienced it for yourself. Statistically, people don’t come forward with that kind of abuse until the age of fifty-two. I didn’t tell my parents until I was thirty-three. Props to Jody for speaking about it and to the rest of the panel for making it possible. The awareness level needs to raise by leaps and bounds to address these issues. Thank you for speaking out and giving it a louder voice.
