    I recently got the ball point in a lovely blue color - very nice. I held off on the FP as I didn't really like the look of it. In seeing your review, I see I was right! It's too small for my big hands too. THANKS for the review - stay well!

    I like a pen with a bit of heft and I have a lot of time for a pen with a distinctive style. I'm not crazy about ef nibs.

    Good, complete and honest review, Chris. Thank you. It's odd that while the ballpoint has quality features like real carbon fiber, its fountain pen companion does not, and is oddly proportioned. Another interesting note: though the pen's price is around $70, they charge what seems like a lot for the few replacement parts they sell. Are these bits, like the spring, proprietary? Since they make no secret about using leftover Moonman nib assemblies, one would assume not. Regarding that bolt-action, there are lots of kit pens I've seen at craft fairs using a bolt closure, and was told that this design was unavailable in a fountain pen. I was able to find one, however, with a retracting circular nib, similar to those on Lamy Dialogue and Pilot Vanishing Point. I got it because it's just so weird. Anyhow, thanks for your reviews, and maybe the engineers at Bastion will take your comments under consideration.

      I offered to work with them & they are interested. You could probably use a generic spring. Would not call Moonman nibs leftovers. As I mention, other pens use them, they seem to be the Jowo/Bock of China.

      @@chrisrap52 Possibly. But as you have pointed out, Moonman changed its name, and the nibs already produced that have their earlier name are showing up elsewhere. Do you think these nibs are as good as the Jowo/Bocks are? I hope the maker will take your suggestions into serious consideration for future models on their fountain pens. Your experience and expertise seem more applicable than what their designers came up with.

      I don't expect these nib units to change to Majohn any time soon. There are many millions of them & that change would require a new mold which is expensive. Moonman has nibs made for their pens. EF, F & M. The maker could be selling them to other pen makers. I don't see Moonman/Majohn becoming nib makers like Jowo/Bock.

    Interesting design of the fountain pen. Pity it has some flaws. I am am surprised there is a Moonman nib and feed. I wonder if MaJohn made the pen. That you can get parts for the pen is a great idea.
    Great review, Chris.
    ps Looking forward to your review of the Asvine V126.

      I would say Moonman did not make the pen. Moonman does not own any factories. The build is unique.

    Thanks for a great video, as always. Very nice pens, but I wouldn't get the fountain pen because it can't be posted. A bummer. Ballpoint pen is neat, though.

    Looking at their webpage I can see they make a lot of gear for gun owners etc. I’m completely ignorant on guns etc but that ballpen action reminds me of a rifle’s reloading mechanism? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

      @chrisrap52  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct. It i a bolt action, used on some rifles.

    hello, I was recommended your brand of fountain pen, I am an artist, I would like to try my hand at a fountain pen, I am looking for a model with a medium nib that delivers ink well with a standard line, I am of course a taker reference of dense black ink and colors thank you for your return

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of pens have a nice medium line. Choice depends on price, size, weight & any other feature you want. As this is your first pen, best if you could go to a pen store & try out some. If that is not available, I suggest starting with a medium cost pen $10-30 USD. Where would you but the pen?

    The bolt action reminds me of a plastic ballpoint I had with a similar mechanism when I was in grade school back in the 1950's. Long gone along with everything else.
