this one was a banger, really enjoyed it AND really liked the new characters, chevreuse and chiori are SO neat, very original characters i feel? super different than i expected but still LOVELY (im writing this at 3 am excuse the making 0 sense) xavier in his first FUN story too wow
can't wait for the LANTERN RIIIIIITE SOOOOOOON AAAAAA
and exploration very soon too!! gonna record the world quest this weekend I think!!

Gameplay wise I think exploration! Every story quest from Dehya onwards was very pog so I'd watch any of them too, but we'll get them sooner or later

This is a va joke for his JP and CN Voice actors Akira Ishida and Zhaolu respectively since they voice Otto Apocalypse in Honkai Impact 3rd; Basically Honkai's most iconic villain. Otto and Ayato practically have the same "scheming from behind the scenes" personality, except Ayato at least is not an antagonist (thank god, got ptsd from his voice sounding exactly the same in jp and cn)

I remember a world quest where Paimon literally talks about our bath water.
Rednasyo actually after the first day part, if you don't quickly change to second day, you can go to Palais Mermonia and see Ayato and Neuvillette having a discussion. Ayaka and Yoimiya were at the cafe and Xavier and Chiori were at the big fountaine of the city.
I hate the fact that we will never have the chance to play this event again
Characters like Chevreuse -YaoYao and Kaveh had an amazing character with good writing and a lot of depth
new players or returning players will never know how good their characters are and how they have their own hobbies and side activities they have, and the biggest example is Cyno in quests he is so serious but in events he is so unserious and funny, and he loves TCG with dad jokes in his lips all the time you will never know that if you didn't play events
or major characters growth and developments like albedo - sucrose - Collie and Xiao that changes their characters and teach them lessons
or good small adventure to showcase their character, like Layla - Faruzan - Itto and Hu tao
like I saw a new player participate in the Lantern Rite last year, and he was so confused why Xiao act so different from his story quest
they have a serious problem with events, and they need to change it ASAP :(
Ugh I hate that they do this too, I actually think Fischl is the biggest offender of limited timed event character backstories. That summer event in 2022 had her incredible storyline and its sad a lot of people wont know Fischl as much else but a comedic or annoying character. Even more frustrating when they put a system that keeps plot relevant events playable whenever in star rail but they're not gonna bother doing that in genshin. I know the genshin events take up a lot more space but the option to download and uninstall events would be amazing.
I will never get over how the first time you meet Scaramouche is in an event all the way back in like version 1.1 and that event is like a massive plot point to the actual main plot of the game too.
At first i assumed it was to save space for mobile users (especially the summer event ones bc theyre beefy) but after hsr.. yeah lmao just pure fomo

@@_elynas I may or may not have just wrote a veeery long rambly comment, so uh... here's the cliffnotes instead: Genshin has chosen to go for mainly seasonal events, so having them all the time would be very confusing - Star Rail has avoided that from the start, by having no seasonal celebrations.
Genshin changes the overworld for each new event, adding fancy designs to buildings, adding shops, etc. which takes a good bit of storage space each time - Star Rail just opens a brand new location that will, at most, have its NPCs move around, so it doesn't need to sacrifice any storage space on having two different versions of the same location.
Genshin events were never meant to be permanent, so extra coding (and planning) would need to be done, to figure out how to add them in in a "natural" way (because otherwise new players would eventually suddenly get like... 30 events at once at some AR) and to figure out when the game is supposed to toggle them on - and more importantly: when exactly the game should turn a completed event off again. (A lot of those events also happened in the same few locations, so the devs would need to figure out which ones should be prioritized over others.)
All in all, Star Rail was just way smarter about how they implemented events, while for Genshin, it might be too late to fix this issue now - because they'd have to work their way through a huge, intimidating backlog of events, to retroactively turn those permanent as well...
And it's fair that Star Rail is better at this! Because it is the way newer game of the two. It's a good thing MHY has at least learned from Genshin's issues, even if it's not benefitting Genshin itself.
And hey, even though it's not the same as playing it ourselves, at least there's many people that have uploaded the old events as vids, so they are not completely lost. Small mercy, sure, but it's at least something I guess.
I know exactly what you mean. New people aren't going to experience the seemingly friendly Scaramouche suddenly trying to kill us just as Mona instinctively whisks us away, Albedo grabbing his sword and heading off to hunt down his clone and us never being sure which one survived, other Layla casually dropping lore about the ley lines corresponding to the stars in the sky, Kaveh amassing a troupe of fennec foxes, Madam Peng's undying love for Guizhong, Guoba's true identity, Klee's childhood adventures, Fischl's teary break down and then triumph over the Prinzessen plus scolding of Oz. They ought to preserve all that hard work and characterisation in rewatchable cutscenes and replayable quests (just like how hangouts are).

Now that I am watching it back, Chiori and Ayato almost seem to have this strange tension between them, kinda like you may see with exes or something. Wonder if there is some backstory we don't know yet other than she is just good friends with Ayaka since they were children.

To be fair, he's obvs gotta keep managing the household, even moreso while both Kamisatos are traveling, because 1. he's the only person the siblings would ever trust with that kinda responsibility and 2. the estate would probably burn down if he left for even a day, because I mean... he's Thoma.
(But ngl I still wish we got some kinda "coming back home to Thoma welcoming them" scene after the event ended. I need that so much.)

Rednas, you could have seen an interaction between Ayato and Neuvillette after the end of the first act! Genshin always does that, sprinkling some playable characters in the open world after an act!
And basically doesn't let you know in any goddamned way! I used to try and see if the characters were where they said they would be in the earlier versions and they weren't so I got resigned to that idea so now that they're doing it "SOMETIMES" I can't even find them because I just do not have the time to scour the map in the hopes that >maybe< something cool will happen.

P.S. If you actually choose the Pate de Fruit dialogue option, the scene changes and is really funny, you should look it up
I think it's funny how this event teaches us to separate fiction from reality and what works in a fictional setting won't work in real life,
through a fictional world of Teyvat.
So a fictional setting telling the real world that rules bound to fiction can't be applied to the real world. Sounds really meta.

I started the quest, didn't have time and missed it, so I'm really happy to see it; normally when I miss an entire event, I don't have any motivation to catch up to the lore on the event as I'm too dejected to watch CCs playing the event; but I played the games so I'm not as dejected

I don't usually skip dialogues as much as possible, but as an efficient genshin player I did this event on its last few hours and realize that I won't make it. So, I had skip dialogues, I know I can experience the story again by watching your gameplay so thanks for doing this. by the way, did you cover the Moonchase Festival event? I missed some parts there cuz I kinda did the same thing.
They sprinkled so many hidden interactions for characters after story quests in events now, so it appears you missed out on Ayato talking about the cultural exchange plan with Neuvillette on Day 1 near Palais Mermonia. Ayaka and Yoimiya chatting at the cafe about Conch Madeleines, and Chiori and Xavier at the fountain.
Heh, spoiler alert....
We literally allow a couple to take revenge on a lady's father. its a new questline, "leroy" and is the most messed up family issues possible in game so far (i think). pretty sure they kill him. if you do the quest, you'll realise why they did.

I kinda wished Chiori didn't sound so monotone/sarcastic all the time. It's kinda boring imo. I had a similar problem with Freminet and Layla speaking so slow they put me to sleep lol

also, kinda wandering, are minigame videos for events going to come back? even if its not that heavy on lore, info or whatever, i still like seeing your reactions for little game mechanics, just watching people having fun!

28:20 Nope! I hadn't done furina's quest and was still in the prison as far as the main quest goes when that event popped. However, the dialogue didn't change so I kinda got spoiled by the event... My bad for wanting to play the quests a little bit each day so I can enjoy it for longer I guess...

Given that chevreuse is a police officer i think its really good to not have her deliver vigilante justice.
28:18 they haven’t put the recommendation for the quest like they used to (like how iradori festival was locked behind raiden story quest 2) but there also no changes in dialogue so basically within the first five mins of the quest you get spoiled about furina not bring the archon even if you haven’t completed the archon quest (learnt the hard way)
I guess they stopped locking events from story quest.
They have recommended quest button but not a quick start this time

I was playing the main quest each day as it came out... and it felt like really weird stopping points for me. While I enjoyed the quest as a whole, I didn't particularly care for it in its individual parts. Seeing it like this, all at once, is much more enjoyable.

Hey fun fact, you don't have to do neither the Fontaine main questline or Furina's quest before doing this event. I picked up genshin again recently and did this quest first thing. I've seen your videos on the aforementioned quests so no spoilers for me but it was odd to hear them speak of events that hadn't happened yet in my world
Chevreuse and Luka from Star Rail are 2 characters i love so much from the amount of mental fortitude as their belief before the hard work mentality. It took them more than just hard work and the results are seen as they made change in their life, which i adore sm 😊

Xavier has the biggest plot armor I have ever seen
Can't expect too much from Eng VA's. There's so much words in this games from different langauges. Chinese, Russian, French, Japanese, Persian, etc. Unless they know pronunciation or accent, they can't. Even local people sometimes can't pronounce names or words correctly. That's how so many variations of English accent came to existence. But I heard French and English has a big connection.
I'd love to see Rednas's reaction to Navia's story quest as well as Wriothesley's
Both Chiori and Furina can be either toxic or good girls. But their outer appearance is different, where Chiori always seems mature and Furina is childlike. But actually both are always at guard. Even Neuvillitte described Furina's coping with her false act by taking in madness. And same thing is with Chiori where she is showing her as sassy.
2:55:55 - there's a theory that at the and you have to choose between the sibling and paimon, which honestly i find really interesting since right now we still don't know what the other sibling is planning and i hope we also get more paimon lore since there has been a few moments where she was suspicious, what i mean to say by that is mostly that we still don't know what paimon is since she never really talks about herself - i hope that makes atleast some sense cuz i'm so bad at explaining
Don't say that. She is not taking credits. I hope you are joking. Someone directing a small, inexperienced and untrained troupe to success would need good talent to lead the stage. She was just saying what any other would say in her shoes. Her arrogance part might be little stingy but it's a part of character afterall.

Classic Hoyoverse making quests well above the average that introduce new characters and give them actual development and then delete the whole thing after a couple weeks. This event was better than the majority of actual character quests.
They really need to make a system to download event quests after they have passed. Just remove the mini-games and their rewards for the post event version. Making it an optional download would also help keep down file size issues.
