Fantastic video! Yes, loved the chemistry and conversions - please don't think there isn't an audience out here for this scientific-based information because there is! Super, super.
I agree. I am all ears and realize that I have wasted a lot of $$$ on products that are not effective at all. I’m 73 and still searching for products that accomplish something.
I'd also like to add...that there was no...mention of essential oils...that are stronger...she mostly mentioned...carrier oils!!!!! Please look up Frankincense...neroli ...sandlewood...yang ylang...just to mention a few
Thank you, I really hope this helps people make better purchases and understand the claims that companies make without ever having to show there documentation. We need more transparency in skin care.
I've been using oils for years and love the 'smoothing effect' it has on my skin. The glow is nice too. I still use some cremes...but I do feel the oils absorb into the skin better. I've always heard that Rose Hip oil is nature's retinoid. It's a little disappointing that it doesn't do any anti aging. But my skin does drink it up and seems to love it.
Well, I don't know how it works, but rosehip CO2 extract (I use the one by Pai) does wonders to my skin in terms of brightening and evening out the skin tone as well as healing any blemishes or scarring... No other oil actually does it for me, and I've tried a lot of them. All they do is, indeed, moisturize. But rose hip is just a miracle worker . I've always thought it was due to the high content of carotenoids (aka pro-vitamin A) in it... don't know...
Nice to see you Angie. I too was offered money from the CaCay oil man but I could not find any research on the oil. They listed a lab in Germany to support their claims that didn't exist. I use Carrot Oil and Rosehip oil and they have changed the texture of my skin, helped with scarring and are powerful anti-oxidants...and they just make me feel healthy. I am hoping more studies can be done in the coming years because my before and after pictures still amaze me. I can't use Retin-a...if I could, I would. But I am happy with my oils. And using facial oils on your skin doesn't make you skin oily...that is not what I have found, and I have normal to oily skin. I thought that was cute about raining on somebody's parade! I appreciate all you do. Have a lovely week..you are looking beautiful! xxoo Sues & The Dez
Interested in using carrot and rosehip oils. How do you incorporate them in your skin care. Do you use them day and nite. Can you tell me how and when to use these oils ?
bev692 I love my oils! I use 3 oils from The Ordinary: Rose Hip Oil (high in Vitamin A) , Sea Buckthorn Oil (high in Vitamin C, Omega 7 and other anti-oxidants) and their B-Oil which is a blend of oils and Algae. I only use my oils at night and I like to alternate nights: one night my B-Oil (3 drops), the next night my Rosehip Oil (3 drops) mixed with 1 drop of Seabuckthorn Oil and so on. I apply my oils after my essence, Hyaluronic acid serum, then either my Estée Lauder Night serum or my Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsule, then I add my Oil ~ I consider my oils as another nutrient dense serum step ~ go watch some TV and have my pre-bed snack. lol! Then I top it all off with my bedtime moisturizer to seal the deal and go to bed. 🛏😴 I know, it’s quite the process but my skin loves it! Lol! 😂
@@FitChickGlows I truly believe using facial oils help slow the aging process. My skin is so much better now then it was 15 years ago :) Unless you use oils its so very hard to review/ explain them.
LittlePoet Amen to that! I totally agree!! I will never part with my facial oils! I really believe also that they are truly anti-aging and super nourishing to our skin. I mean it’s the elixir of the plant that it’s derived from so it’s going to be brimming with the elixir of nutrients of that plant. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Especially when you’re just pulling out 1 teensy weensy micro component and saying that that’s all the oil is made up of. We don’t even have a measuring tool for all that’s in those oils, really. We only know in part BUT our skin understands it in it’s WHOLE! Lol! 😉😂
Have to say I love your videos! I am 67 and always get compliments on my skin-I have been using retina A for at least 12-15 years and Paula’s Choice around the same. I love it when u recommend the products I am using-thank u! I I have a friend who insists I am getting regular injections, I am not, I have had Botox infrequently, but I attribute my good skin to retina A, Paula’s Choice and good genes!
You are the only one on yt, that could pull this off ; making complex chemistry understandable to someone who can hardly spell chemistry ! It's a gift of yours thank you so much for sharing
This was refreshingly accurate! I was watching thinking “is she gonna cover the issues with high oleic oils” or is she going to cover these components and she covered it all. What a nice change, usually skincare videos are filled with errors or lacking information.
Wonderful, well researched video. Thank you for a non-sponsored viewpoint. I use seaberry oil as a buffer under my Curology tretinoin. I know it’s not supposed to be how you layer these things, but if I use moisturizer as my buffer my skin barrier takes a beating and my face is all red and peeling in the morning. The oil slows down the penetration of the tretinoin, and I wake up with gorgeous skin. I also have to apply another occlusive on top of the tretinoin (I use a lanolin ointment as my last layer). Burned my face so many times before figuring it out! I managed to literally erase the lines on my neck with that regimen, still can’t believe how effective tretinoin is!
Thank you for a thorough review on oils. I love my oils, not because they contain anything useful but they are wonderful for my very dry skin. It’s great that we have you. Brands are constantly trying to trick us saying a product contain this and that but leaving out facts like molecule size and concentration. Nice to see that you still are sticking to Clinique wash, me too. Since you recommended it and I bought it, I have been in love with it!
Best video on oils I've ever seen. Every single oil breaks me out even the ones that claim to be high in linoleic acid. I didn't understand why since every video I watched on oils kept hyping their fatty acid contents. Upon further research I learned the fatty acid contents has to be isolated to receive the benefits. I never saw anyone ever explaining this. Moral of story is to do your own research especially with all these misleading marketing claims out there. Great job on deciphering the claims and hype!!!
I'm sooo glad I can feel vindicated in stopping the slathering of oils on mah face every night. Always go to bed feeling sticky and wake up feeling dry! Thanks for a great, informative video!
Epic Angie. Not sure how you managed to explain a black hole of information but you did (thanks Dad? thanks pre-med kid?). Everyone, especially younger ladies just embarking on that “healthy skin through the years” journey should see this one. Oh and your sunscreen videos. Always the sunscreen videos. I still don’t see “beauty gurus” putting sunscreen on camera ever or even show the bottle. They just say they put on spf before the video. Imagine if they actually put it on and young people all over the world saw it, perceived it as part of the glamour and saved themselves a boat load of trouble later on in life.
I just saw a commercial where a girl is putting on about two drops of sunscreen and talking about how wonderful it is. I thought to myself, if that's all the sunscreen you're putting on, you just as soon skip that step because you're not doing anything to help your skin. Dr.Dray always says that the amount of sunscreen you need to put on is a whole lot more than anyone suspects and I always put on a whole lot more sunscreen that I want to put on!
Such a great video. Angie, as a fellow scientist you are the only TH-camr I religiously watch. Thank you so much for putting in the work to help me understand skin care.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost body gel cream with hyaluronic acid, fragrance-free for sensitive and dry skin. I just found this at Walmart yesterday. It is a 16oz bottle and I think I paid $8.93 for it. Going through hot flashes myself especially at night, it's difficult for me to use any kind of lotion on my body because I sweat more after I put the lotion on. (AKA Aveeno) Truth be told, I do not like that. This lotion is light, it's like water. It absorbs into my skin without leaving that greasy feel. GO NEUTROGENA! 🎉🎉🎉...Angie, I looked for this type of a product because of you and your relationship with Neutrogena. TY. 💝
Awesome to hear about your daughter, Angie! Always wonderful to get information from you. I am a registered nurse and respect every bit of information you provide.
Angie, the science professional in me always turns to you for your thorough research and scientific explanations. I have tremendous respect for your work and your introduction of the science behind your explanations to your viewers.
Angie, You are amazing! What a wealth of information! My dermatologist has always said sunscreen and Retin A is the gold standard of skincare! I have been using both since I was 31! I’m 46 today!
Signed up for curology thanks to you and am a week into using it..so far so good! I was using differin for 3 months prior so I already went through the purge..well worth it!
Thanks Angie for putting a lot of work in this video. As far as I know, this is the most comprehensive 21 minute video about facial oils. I have to watch it a few times to fully understand your research. Thank you so much!
Wow, I really appreciate it that you are so upfront about products. I didn’t realize how much people got paid to say good things about their products that are sponsored. It’s hard to sometimes trust people those that may get paid to say some are basically a fountain of youth and just another one to throw your money out the window to be disappointed. Thanks so much for all your info! God bless you!
Thank you! I hate oils, I tried so many and not one did anything for me but made me greasy. I can't stand them and even if they were some miracle worker I wouldn't use them, can't stand them on my skin, not even mixed with moisturizer. Amazing research.
Wow Angie! I don't know what's more impressive, all of the research you did or how well you pronounced everything! Thank you for this amazing video. I am a fan of tea tree oil as aftershave, jojoba, sesame, and avocado oils for my hands and cuticles especially in the winter when my skin is so dry. I'm so appreciative! Thanks!!!
I am a full-fledged nerd. I love getting tidbits of info about all kinds of things. And when it comes to taking care of my skin, the more tidbits the better. I love facial oils but I don’t necessarily use them as “anti-aging” products. I use them for moisturization and soothing properties when my face has been sensitized by other products. Thanks for all the “homework” you did on all this.
I have always had very oily skin. I started using facial oils, and for the first time ever (46 yrs old), my skin balanced out, stopped over-producing oil and my skin is now more normal. Being oily is no longer a problem due to using oils. I use Marula and Squalane.
This is so fascinating, because I’m forever trying different oils and antioxidants for my skin, but looking back on my pictures from the last year, the Cureolgy made the most dramatic change. I’m 40.
I use separate products to get my vitamins and actives, not oils. But I do use oils to soften skin and other things. I use olive oil to remove makeup instead of an oil based cleanser for a double cleanse. Oils that are heavier like olive and coconut work nicely. My mom always use oils to remove makeup, usually baby oil, but my grandmother used plant oils because that's what she had. Grandma also used crisco for extremely dry skin. And cracking hands, wind burns, etc. And if you have ever made pie crust with crisco and used your hands to do so, you know how soft your hands get. When I use oils as an extra moisturizer, I noticed it does pill up if used last in skin care. So I mix it, just a tiny bit, a few drops with my cream or lotion. I have dry skin with a oilyish t zone. Since using oils in my moisturizer, I have not had any issue with winter dry skin. And did not get the retinoi uglies, my skin didnt dry out and flake. I mix it with cerave. I use grape seed, as it absorbs faster, or rose hip, in skin care. I just like how it feels vs other oils that make me feel more greasy. I also love to add oils in eye cream, body lotions, body creams or butters. They just seem to soften better and for longer. My skin seems to have normalized. I'm no longer dry or oily since adding oils. It just looks odd having what amounts to cooking oils in your bathroom, so I put them in pretty containers. I dont feel like they have anti aging properties other then to help what I already use to add moisture and hold moisture to work better. But as we age, we loose more natural oils, tend to get dryer, which makes wrinkles and crepey skin look worse. If skin is well hydrated, it looksnice, plumber and less wrinkled. And maybe that's how people judge oils as being anti aging. It's like adding glycerin to a cheaper lotion to make it hold more water. It adds a little something. And so my skin that gets painfully dry, that's all I need it to do.
I love this video. Between discovering your channel this last year and Dr. Davin Lim’s channel, it has completely transformed my skincare. It’s now simple, easy, effective, and I’m no longer wasting money on items that I don’t need and don’t work anyway! Thank you for your honesty and applying actual proven science.
Angie, could you do a video on lipsticks/lip balms? I have some lipsticks I love but they don’t stay on very long. Years ago I used to use stay-on lipsticks but found they dried out my lips. Are there any lipsticks out there that stay on and moisturize the lips? A little plumping would be nice, too.
Thank you for doing this!! I know Dr Dray said these really don't have enough vitamin A to do anything. Some youtubers hype these products up sooo much!! I love that you come from a science based background. Love my prescription Tretinoin :)
Angie, I am truly so appreciative for the work you do for us. You work so hard to help everyone. I can’t thank you enough. Please thank your father and daughter as well. I feel like in your regular job that you did some sort of research. You’re so good at it.
Ahhhh the sound of so many hopes and dreams shattering....there goes nearly 3 years of using oils in my skincare routine. Still got half a bottle of Marula and a fresh unopened bottle of Argan oil to use up
Thank you for your research Angie! I love my rose hip seed oil, and how it has improved my skin, and I am not surprised that it does not have the amount of Vit A that a Rx has. My skin does not like the Rx Vit A or even the over the counter Vit A. It is a good option for me.
Number one NERD fan here, front and center, on the edge of my seat. Fully absorbed all 5 hours of this segment which is more than the absorption rate of those oils false claims. : ) I had tossed my oil stash when I converted to your anti aging protocol. Following you has taught me to learn more, look beyond the hype, and in so doing have found products that really work. Just opened a fresh bottle of Timeless Coenzyme Q10 and slathered on a lasting moisturizing dose. Thank you for this series of Antiaging, for igniting a passion in chemistry, explaining it so well, and FOR DOING THE MATH (that's me in the back of the math class, under the desk quivering). XO
I wanted to let you know that I've been following your "Winter" skin care routine for two weeks now and I have noticed a significant change in my skin and I have used EVERYTHING. Not saying that some of EVERYTHING hasn't worked in the past but I'm 54 and I'm looking to simplify my life so besides the oils, everything else I am able to buy at my local drug store. I ordered the oils direct from their websites in lieu of Amazon. Anywho, thanks!
I use oils on my skin because they are the only thing that don’t break me out or make me more oily. I combine my own depending on the season and condition of my skin. They do get messy and aren’t always enough to moisturize my dry retin-a skin so I’ve been looking for something more and a week ago got the Paula’s Choice you just showed! Guess I’ll put my fear aside and give it a try. Great video!
I could just hug you for being the science geek that you are,! 💕My time & money is too valuable for hype, marketing fancy packaging and fragrances. Give me the science behind what I should & shouldn’t be using!!thank you Angie!
I love that you do this research! I swear by my Retin-A and have for years, but I have very dry skin and went through dozens of moisturizers that just didn't do enough. A friend suggested rosehip seed oil to use at night, so I tried it. I no longer wake up with a dry, tight face, so for me it is an exceptional moisturizer (smells great too, and I love natural ingredients when they work). What's funny is I'd never even heard the hype that plant oils "contained Retin-A"! I was just on the hunt for a way to keep my face hydrated. So when I saw your video description, I perked up, wondering if it was doing more than I thought. Nope, LOL. But heck, my face is still super-hydrated with it and I use my "real" anti-aging skincare products religiously, so I'm calling it good.
Wow! You certainly have done your research Angie. So great to get completely honest and unbiased information. Thank you very much for all your hard work and information sharing!
I love oils even before watching Lia Yoo's oil video! I feel much comfortable and not dry on my face after using oil. It looks a bit oily but I use less oily cream or sunscreen on top. Love oils and hope it helps with wrinkles around my eyes!
Angie, I don’t comment often but I had to say that this video was impressive! You did an amazing job and I am so thankful for all these research and analysis you have done for all of us! Thank you sincerely and you should be proud of yourself- great job!
Was so excited to see another Angie video on anti-aging and boy was I NOT disappointed!!! Your research is nothing less than amazing!! Thanks for your hard work
You are just phenomenal! I so appreciate the tremendous amount of work that you did for this video. I have no problem with people trying to market a product, but I do have a problem with purposely misleading people regarding the efficacy of the product. I can ALWAYS rely on you for the truth and I thank you for that.
I'm so glad you're sharing this type of information to your subscribers! It's so frustrating to hear people parroting information which is simply just not true; it reminds me of the old Pantene commercial ("they tell two friends, who tell another two friends, and so on). I encourage you to take another step and read real peer-reviewed research articles. Results from a petri dish can't be extrapolated to topical application of the same ingredient! Another fallacy which marketers love to use to sell their products. Thanks again!!!
I LOVE Curology! I signed up a while back then cancelled because I got a rx from my dr. After a couple months, I ended up reactivating the subscription because I like the 3 ingredients in 1! I had no problems at all cancelling..never got charged post cancellation or sent additional products. And my assigned derm is so nice! I sound like I am selling it lol but its just something I believe in! I am 35 with acne and fine lines and tretinoin has helped more than anything! Also, thank you so much for the oil info! This is something I have been trying to research..you are AWESOME!!!!
I turned 60 and noticed a change in my skin's elasticity. Moisturizers are now not enough. I recently started using oils. I smoother my body in coconut oil (cold pressed organic) before I shower, then moisturize after my shower. This seems to be making a difference (and it's inexpensive (Costco).
I'm a Colorado native, the dryness here is a challenge. I'm 62, and for about a year now, oils are the only thing that I feel work for me. Tamanu oil, rosehip, bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly from creme, , and many of the oils listed, seems like the more pure the oils are, the less other products I need. For dry climate, dryer skin, oils are the answers for my skin 💜
Hi from Ireland! Thank you so much for all your hard work and research on our behalf. I've been following your advice for about a year now, really look forward to your reviews, common sense approach and intelligent comments! I haven't been able to buy retin a here in uk but recently purchased a low dose (0.025) when on holiday in the Canaries! I haven't seen a huge improvement as yet but perhaps need to go back and purchase a higher concentration! I've also bought the Nuface gadget which I really love. I'm 60 yrs old and would be happy if I could reverse the wrinkles just a little! Keep up the great work, Angie. Thanks again.
I want to thank you and your family for this informative video. My skin is very dry and I learned so much today. Your hair, makeup and sweater are beautiful. I respect your opinion.
I enjoyed the adventure into "nerdy land" but my head is spinning,. I'm glad you did a recap at the end, but I got the bottom line of oils are a good moisturizer and that's about it. I purchase Squalene Oil from Good Molecules on Beautylish I think and I use it under my eyes to soak in before I put on makeup. The $6. bottle may last me forever. A little goes a long way and it does moisturize my under eyes throughout the day. I SO appreciate all the research that you do so that your viewers can make informed decisions on skincare that really works. I am 63 and was going to a dermatologist for my Tretoinin (sp?) but they made me come in every year for a $70 charge just to get a refill. I saw your video on Cureology and for the last 6 months have been using it and found it works just as well and is cheaper also. I'm going to give the Paula's Choice product a try - I am gradually switching all my skincare to Paula's Choice. I got away from it trying other things but it never disappoints.
what i love about your videos is your consistency i was watching another mature women skincare video she was so inconsistent you really know what your doing i guess having a father thats a chemist might help also but you know what works for you and your consistent when you try new products the other women using the produts for a months but skipping days so so much more well informed than alot of the other you tubers
Thank you for doing this video, and for putting the research in there. I love oils for how they make my skin feel, but also know that I reach for them less than I do standard skincare items like serums and moisturizers. The bottom line is that while many oils feel great, the basic thing they do is sit on your skin to lock in the moisture and nutrients from other skincare products. I use them as a last step in my routine. I have many, many many oils: Sunday Riley has a CEO oil that is good, but again, I use it at the end of my routine and I don't reach for it often. Nyakio has 3 great oils and the one I love the most is her "green" oil, the Maracuja & Yangu Soothing Oil, and if I put this on when I feel a rosacea flare coming on, it'll soothe my skin and I won't flare. Acure has a Blue Tansy oil that is fine, but I love the Nyakio more. Tarte has a Maracuja oil that is fine, but I still love the Nyakio more. Acure and Drunk Elephant both have Marula oils, but I love Nyakio's Marula & Neroli Brightening Oil more. If I had one oil that I'd repurchase every single time, it would be the Timeless Squalane oil. You can use it in your bath, and your skin will be so smooth afterwards. You can use it to shave your legs with and it is fantastic. You can use it to seal in your other skincare products, and it is great. You can even use it as a first step in a double cleansing routine and it works really well. Since using Timeless' Squalane, I now look for it in my moisturizers (that is my lazy way of adding it to my routine). There are benefits to using oils, but like you stated (very well, I might add) the overall benefit is minimal.
Angie, thank you for sharing your research on facial oils. As consumers I agree we need to understand more because there is so much hype out there and alot is being said about results claimed exaggerated to some degree in their potency.
Of course you are not boring to us! On the contrary: we can only thank you for all the huge and thourough work of research you did for us out here and the very clear way you exposed it! Lots of love and... gratitude! ♡♡♡
My inner geek is squealing with delight over this video! Thanks for sharing all your hard work. Now instead of yet another ridiculously long email to friends which includes links to studies, synopses of findings, etc. (my own 15 page “script”) I can send *one* link to this video. Subject line: Listen to Angie! 😉
I love rose hip seed oil and squaline oil. I never really believed the hype about them though. Retin A is the gold standard and that's what I depend on for changes. Thanks for all the research you've done. ☺
I've watched you for ages now Angie and never commented but I really want to thank you for all the hard work you've done researching these oils. Thank you for debunking these untruthful/skewed marketing claims so we consumers can make an informed choice when buying facial oils, knowing what they are actually good for (keeping moisture in our skin) and what they cannot do (anti-age skin like tretinoin). I really appreciate the hard work you do and the amount of time it must take you x ps you look so young and radiant that you seem to be ageing backwards.
Angie, I love your "nerdy, scientific and informative style"! I learned so much despite my experience using Cacay, Sweet almond and vitamin E on a daily basis. Thanks for such a thorough video! 😍😘🙂
Love this! Plain old, high quality EVOO is what I started using for rosacea flairs and my skin loves it. Makes sense that it’s the moisturizing factor that is calming. Geek on, Angie! 🙂
That was a ton of work to find that information. I'm an Esthetician and I have a hard time finding the chemistry of items. Huge Thank You to you. I loved this video. I love all your stuff.
This was a lot of investigating! It was also very time consuming also, but what great info you are sharing! You always wonder about the hype the cosmetic companies claim as to whether they are true or not. Thanks for all the time you have spent informing us! Thanks 🙏
A really clinical lesson, so interesting, and good to know. There are so many products, hypes out there for us to chose between, it makes us thankful for your knowledge and dedikation of research 😍
WOW! Once again Angie comes through with science and facts! I really appreciate all your hard work so much. You teach me more than any other channel I watch and it’s such solid valuable information. I’ve implemented so many of your recommendations and they work. You stand apart and above all the rest. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! This is so helpful! Although it may not penetrate deeply, I swear that Cacay oil has tightened the skin under my chin and on my neck. A lot. It may just be a temporary effect that occurs while I am using it, but it is dramatic. I mix just a couple drops with a drop of tamanu oil ( which soothes the surface of the skin) and apply under my chin and neck. Cacay can be very irritating, for some, if too much is applied. I know there’s no research to back it up, but it worked for me.
Such a tremendous amount of amazing,y in-depth information, and information that is relatable and was fairly easy to follow. I truly appreciate the amount of time and energy that would go into prepping for this video. I think sometimes people think you just sit down, turn the camera on and “go”... I suspect this took hours of research. Am very thankful for your always honest and ethical opinions.
Oh my gosh! You've done so much research for us. Wow. Thank you. I was feeling bad because I quit incorporating any oils into my routine. They never did anything for me that I could tell, so I quit using them. What did I substitute for the oils about a year ago, at your suggestion? Retin A. What did I start using about 3 months ago at your suggestion?? Curology. I love it! I can see a big difference! Again, Thank you!!!!!!
You do such a great job combining your research and experiences. I appreciate that you don’t peddle woo and BS. There certainly are things I use just because I enjoy the experience, but if I’m paying a lot expecting results it’s helpful to know how to sort through the claims and hype. BTW, I really love your eye look in this video!
Angie, thanks as always for the hard work you put into videos like this! I am obviously disappointed at what your research has uncovered. On the other hand, I have not used prescription Retin-A since June of 2016 and I have been able to keep my dark spots and fine lines under control for almost three years since then with just cacay oil, rosehip seed oil and an over-the-counter Avene cream containing retinaldehyde. I have severely dry skin so these oils are so critical for me in the winter. I wear them both day and night in the winter and only at night in Spring and fall. I wear other things in the summer because I sweat so much the face! ❤❤
Fantastic video! Yes, loved the chemistry and conversions - please don't think there isn't an audience out here for this scientific-based information because there is! Super, super.
Kelly Kaczar agreed! I enjoy the research and science based videos 👏🏼
Me too!!! I spend so so so much time researching before I buy products!!! So loved this. 👍🏻😁
I totally agree!! I want to see the science not the anecdotes so commonly presented by other venues. Great job Angie!!
I agree. I am all ears and realize that I have wasted a lot of $$$ on products that are not effective at all. I’m 73 and still searching for products that accomplish something.
Me too!! Great video!!
Angie, I'm a chemist and I'm impressed by your research and knowledge. Thanks for another amazing review!
please do more research - otherwise how would scientist be able to explain, how rosehip oil can change the texture of skin?
I'd also like to add...that there was no...mention of essential oils...that are stronger...she mostly mentioned...carrier oils!!!!! Please look up Frankincense...neroli ...sandlewood...yang ylang...just to mention a few
Angie, I truly believe that you deserve a Nobel prize for your ingredient series videos!!!
Thank you, I really hope this helps people make better purchases and understand the claims that companies make without ever having to show there documentation. We need more transparency in skin care.
Agreed!
Im only 27 but I am obsessed with your channel! Nobody as informative as you
martini you should check out Dr Dray here on yt she is a dermatologist and has many videos with info!
After selling high end skincare for years I found raw organic shea butter to be the absolute best for smoothing and hydrating my skin.
Thank you. It’s not my imagination then! I was thinking the same thing. Shea butter has been the best I’ve found. ❤️
Angie: the stratum corneum-
Me: I wish there was a diagram
Angie: -cuts to diagram
Me: Damn, she’s good
I've been using oils for years and love the 'smoothing effect' it has on my skin. The glow is nice too. I still use some cremes...but I do feel the oils absorb into the skin better. I've always heard that Rose Hip oil is nature's retinoid. It's a little disappointing that it doesn't do any anti aging. But my skin does drink it up and seems to love it.
The only thing I can say about this video-research is WOW!!!!!! Thank you 🥰
Well, I don't know how it works, but rosehip CO2 extract (I use the one by Pai) does wonders to my skin in terms of brightening and evening out the skin tone as well as healing any blemishes or scarring... No other oil actually does it for me, and I've tried a lot of them. All they do is, indeed, moisturize. But rose hip is just a miracle worker . I've always thought it was due to the high content of carotenoids (aka pro-vitamin A) in it... don't know...
Listen to ur skin. Don't listen to know it alls.
Oof, it has to suck to turn down sponsorships, but thanks for keeping it real on your channel.
Lol! 😉😂
$6,000??!! That sheds a lot of light on the veracity and integrity of many youtube reviews. Thanks for your honesty!! Great video!
Have to say I love your videos! I am 67 and always get compliments on my skin-I have been using retina A for at least 12-15 years and Paula’s Choice around the same. I love it when u recommend the products I am using-thank u! I
I have a friend who insists I am getting regular injections, I am not, I have had Botox infrequently, but I attribute my good skin to retina A, Paula’s Choice and good genes!
Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos! So helpful🤓❤️
There should be a TH-cam award for best research you would win hands down, you put a lot of work in this video
“Very tiny amounts also known as virtually none”😄 This is so fascinating and informative, very well researched! Thank you, Angie😊
Thank you for sharing you are amazing what do you suggest for dry face?
As a chemist, this was right up my alley! Awesome job and thanks for succinctly presenting these compounds for the non-science persons out there.
I appreciate your data analysis. Good job-I am a chemist and these are calculations I do for creating formulations in the health care industry.
My skin has improved since I’ve added rose hip oil to my nightly skin care, before I use retina . It’s so simple and less expensive than creams!
I've used it a year and it's great
Me too!
I love Rosehip Oil, it helps me with my acne and minimizes my pores.
Particularly Which brand rosehip oil r u using ?? ..if u could share
Sure, I am using Trilogy Organic Rosehip Seed Oil
Thank You so much for chasing down the actual numbers and not just using buzz words
Do you mean that you like to use oils? :)
Wow!!! Thank you for all of your hard work! This is super useful information. 👏🏻
Oh my gosh what did I do before I found you?!? You demystify the whole cosmetic/skin care world for us! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
That's great to hear Donna!!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your time and preparation for your videos! Thank you!
Thanks Sunshine!
I could just hug you for being the science geek that you are,! 💕My time & money is too valuable for hype, marketing fancy packaging and fragrances. Give me the science behind what I should & shouldn’t be using!!thank you Angie!
Totally agree, Beach Town!
Thanks so much Tatiana!
Was so excited to see another Angie video on anti-aging and boy was I NOT disappointed!!! Your research is nothing less than amazing!! Thanks for your hard work
I have started my skin care at 62!! You are amazing. Let’s hope I am doing the am and pm care right!
Thank you for researching and presenting the facts. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing, Angie! I love your longer, science based videos!! I find them so helpful and interesting! I appreciate your hard work!
Angie warning me it’s a long video about skincare = you just made my Tuesday a million time better!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
Queen of doing research and not selling out
I enjoyed the adventure into "nerdy land" but my head is spinning,.
Extremely well done video!! thank you for all the hard work. as a biology and chemistry major I appreciate you attention to detail
I have many, many many oils:
Sunday Riley has a CEO oil that is good, but again, I use it at the end of my routine and I don't reach for it often.
As consumers I agree we need to understand more because there is so much hype out there and alot is being said about results claimed exaggerated to some degree in their potency.
thank you Angie. You are the smartest skincare person I know. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!!
I used to work in a skincare office, and not even the aesthetician knew as much as you. Great research !
Thank you. You save me so many time. I am going to be 57 and I am starting to get wrinkles.
You have saved me so much money!!! Thank you for delving into this
This was a lot of investigating! It was also very time consuming also, but what great info you are sharing! You always wonder about the hype the cosmetic companies claim as to whether they are true or not. Thanks for all the time you have spent informing us! Thanks 🙏
A really clinical lesson, so interesting, and good to know. There are so many products, hypes out there for us to chose between, it makes us thankful for your knowledge and dedikation of research
😍
Very impressive. The amount of work that you’ve put into this, it really shows. Thank you.
At LAST an answer to my long-standing question about rosehip seed oil and tretinoin. Thank you so much, Angie, for being so thorough and systematic!
This is the most helpful video on beauty oils I've ever seen. ALL HAIL ANGIE, QUEEN OF FACTS!
That's awesome Sheri! I love that you have a routine you love (& I love that Avene Retinaldehyde)! xo ~angie
