as a pilot I appreciate the hard working maintainers... please keep up the hard work. I depend on you to do it right and not cut corners. Hopefully your leadership has your back!

As a crew chief of Tankers, I have told every crew member that has flown on my aircraft. It's not my job to make the aircraft fly, It's my job to make sure if the aircraft flies it is as safe as I could get it to my knowledge.

Uhh.. the plane is over 60 yrs old so it isn't a shock it is showing it's age, especially with the amt of flying hrs it has on a yearly basis. When I flew on it in the 80's part of my preflight was to check the wing crack detector to make sure no cracks had been found. I don't know if the plane will last another 30 yrs but the AF will do everything it can to make sure it does.

The military might as well upgrade their fleet to newer aircraft since airlines can do it.

Vietnamese airplane!? Several upgrades!? An outdated aircraft but can still be used because of upgrades, but one day it will be decommissioned when there will be a new technology to build a new refuelling plane

@@tomking1890 Yup this is old news, like even when posted in 2019 old news. There was a TCTO for an OTI back in either 2016 or 2017 for the trunnion caps to prevent this kind of failure. It's also why we have iso inspections on these aircraft, because not all of the OTI inspectors always catch these things, which is what I'm guessing is what happened here.
It's nothing new. The reason the thing got news attention probably is because the local journos wanted a military story and depot guys were flown in.
