It doesn't matter who won the hug at the end made them both winners in my heart. They knew they both put on a show and were proud of it
Black Dragon's team has the language barrier obviously, but they always seem like some of the nicest most wholesome teams in the sport. Love to see it for sure, and Anna's squad under RIPeroni were so much fun to see this year!
Agreed The bots in the arena are only half of it. The level of sportsmanship at the end can make or break the show. My personal opinion, some of the teams with the best sportsmanship AND are strong competitors are

Black dragon
Ones I don’t like and are too competitive.

Despite Ripperoni being eliminated, this was my favorite fight from this episode. So many fights were honestly FOTW worthy, but this one just seemed the most fitting due to the length, good sportsmanship, and all around action.
I really hope Black Dragon can restart their streak after that loss against Riptide - They already started off again here. No one else has gotten close, maybe they can break their own record! I'm not a competitor so idk if that's how it works, but hey, if it can, I say go for it! Riptide is just one robot, you can do it, BD!
If they don't get Rookie of the Year, I will scream! If they do, I WILL SCREAM! But there will be different screams for either situation. :P So they better get it.

They're getting rookie of the year 100% despite it not actually being a 'rookie' if you know what I mean. Banshee is the only true rookie in battlebots 😭

It's been replaced with an award regarding showing good sporstmanship - something I like, but I wish that they instead removed Most Destructive for...Reasons.
I feel like I can see who will get that reward this season and I don't want THEM to be awarded for their behavior... :/
Or at least, I hope BB considers not feeding into controversy and not awarding stuff related to controversial fights. Like, legit destruction without the outrage? Sure. But not something that clearly had the community split - even if it's just casual watchers vs genuine fans.

Credit to Black Dragon though, they were outmatched weapon-weapon but trusted their durability and drove like daemons. Deserved win.
This fight hurts me soooooo much! RipPeroni was winning that back and forth fight, only for it to die and counted out on the Upperdeck with 3 seconds left. Black Dragon is such a durable brick, even when it caught fire again! This fight result really gives me Cobalt vs DUCK vibes from WCIV. Really good fight regardless and RipPeroni certainly is rookie of the year!

Little sad Monsoon vs Cobalt wasn't FOTW, but I knew it was going to be one of those two, so not mad. Hopefully they upload that one too.
Now this is the kind of fight I love to see. MASSIVE hits by both bots. Back and forth. One has the advantage, then the other makes a comeback. Both being very aggressive and dangerous. One of the bots ON FIRE but still fighting hard! You don't know who is going to win till its over.
Ripperoni truly surprised everyone with their bot. That flywheel technology is genius at fighting gyroscopic forces to keep them on the ground. They had some fantastic fights, just a shame they broke down right in the final few seconds.
This was one of the best battlebots round of all time. Good job Black dragon
That to show us we must not only depend on weapons..... And it do show never give up, plan B... As little as it is, they use the strength of the BOT. Exciting game...
I just realized RIPperoni's driver used to drive Valkyrie! He's so much more animated now
One of the greatest showmanship and team love ever displayed in BattleBots history. These two teams absolutely adored playing against each other. It could go either way, but I am happy either way for them! What an incredible rookie season run by RIPperoni and legendary never say never by Black Dragon!
Awesome win by BD but honestly RIP is becoming one of my favorite bots between a 70lb spinner, how stable it is, and impressiveness of having 2 completely different tire sizes geared perfectly in harmonic balance.
The brazilian robot pilots are so agresssive!! The best BB!!! 🇧🇷

4:26 Man, if I had a nickel for every time Kenny Florian made a comment about a bot this year which was immediately contradicted by what happened in the following few seconds, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but still, it's weird that it happened twice. (Copperhead vs. Triton was the first time.)

here in brazil we have a couple of expression to define people/things such as Black Dragon. We may call them "bicho ruim" ("nasty animal"), "sangue no olho" (blood in the eye), "zica" (bad luck or bad luck giver), "o cão chupando manga" (the devil eating a mango) and many others

Man, that's a wild fight. RIPperoni seemed like it was doing alright, but honestly, Black Dragon showed a lot more fight at the end there. They could simply endure more hits from RIPperoni than RIPperoni could dish out. Complete madlad move to win the fight by making the other team hit you so hard THEY loose. The primary weapon was still running at 100% but the rest of the bot was failing it after so many high energy events.
Truly memorable fight! Still, became a new fan of Rip or roni! Pizza Time!!!

That was hard fought and well earned. I was rooting for Ripperoni when the matched started, it looked like they were sure to win given the reach advantage they had with their weapon. But Black Dragon man. Had a disadvantage on reach, kept on coming. Got tossed around like a rag doll, kept on coming. Lost their weapon, kept on coming. Caught on FREAKING fire! STILL kept on coming and won via knockout. Respect.
Remember, kids: Fire not only heals dragons, it makes them stronger

the RIPperoni team has quickly become my favorite, theyre so nice and the bot is super cool with that flywheel and pizza design!
That's why you keep fighting until time is up.
If anyone doubted that Black Dragon would utterly be creamed by hard hitters after Riptide, this fight shows that you're gonna need a lot more than big hits and disabling weaponry to take Black Dragon down.
RIPperoni did well though. Utterly overwhelming BD weapon-2-weapon, breaking it, and setting him on fire, but unfortunately, as Gruff shows, his quirky design is ultimately his undoing and needs a lot more work.
P.S. Black Dragon pulled a Minotaur when that Brazilian bull fought against Cobalt.
I was not expecting black dragon to win. Give both bots some credit for an incredible fight!
Black Dragon had durability, but I don't see their weapon doing much. I think Ripperoni has a good future.

Ripperoni was absolutely smashing Black Dragon, and it has one of the most deadly weapons in the competition. Toughest bot ever. It makes you appreciate how wicked Riptide's weapon must be to KO Black Dragon in not much more than a minute. A Minotaur v Riptide final would be wild. The box would be in danger.

These are still big, heavy, complicated machines. When in doubt, ram 'em. Durability, speed, and good driving probably win as many fights as primary weapons do.

Pizza boi delivered his own death. Some of its own weapon attacks launched itself. Not ideal.
Rookie of the Year bot did great despite the fluke loss! She should really incorporate a pizza peel into her design, put more weight on the front end with a wider heavier wedge.

Really wanted to see RIPperoni win this one. I think once Black Dragon's weapon was disabled, RIPperoni should have powered down their own weapon until the end. Looks like the pushing match only caused damage because of RIPperoni's own recoil from its weapon.
Disarmed and on fire and still wins with raw robotic stamina black dragon is clearly my favorite.
So happy for black dragon, this was great.
