A deaerator is a device that removes oxygen and other dissolved gases from water, such as feedwater for steam-generating boilers. Dissolved oxygen in feedwater will cause serious corrosion damage in a boiler by attaching to the walls of metal piping and other equipment and forming oxides.

What does an inspection opening on a large feeder tank typically look like? Is it above the water level? Or does the tank have to be drained to allow the inspection opening to be opened? Also how is it opened for example, is it bolted shut?

## The process through which the dissolved gases are removed from water is called the “Deaeration Process”. The equipment, which is used in this method, is called “Deaerator“.
# Why do we use deaerators?…
The Deaerator (DA) tank uses steam to preheat boiler feedwater to a temp. at which dissolved O2 & CO2 will become separated from the feedwater before it is pumped to the boiler. The purpose is to protect the boiler and steam/condensate piping from corrosion that would be present when the water evaporates into steam. An additional benefit is that the number of chemicals used to treat the boiler water can be reduced.

Hydrazine.Chemical formula NH2 and this is , I think, the chemical reaction 2(NH2)+O2=2(H2O)+N2.
