I was diagnosed with Ooesophagea Aachalasia a few weeks ago. Since I am at the early stage, I have been looking for alternative treatment other than the traditional symptomatice treatment. I did not want to have Botox or POEM. I am very thankful to Dr. Jain for this video. It helps me to understand much more about this disease. Perhaps if I can be seen by a neurogastroenterologist, I may try cognitive behavioral therapy and diaphragmatice breathing instead of surgery.
I noticed that my disorder became worse after my Covid shots. I’ve never had Covid. However, I have a hiatal hernia that was attempted to be fixed 2 times. Now, I haven’t been able to eat much. My doctor thinks that maybe my vagus nerve is wrapped in scar tissue. I do grow a lot of scar tissue. My recent surgery happened in December 2018 or 2019 and took 7 hours to get scar tissue off of my aorta and liver. My LES is fine, but my esophagus failed 80%. Any ideas to get nutrition?
Can refflux cause iem issues my test showed 50% in trouble swallowing and reflux symptoms. The les relaxation is normal i really think my spitchner is not working properly so i really want to get the fundoplication surgery
Mine is caused by chest & abdomen area injury. Injury to my organs. Causing spasm and contrastion and severe aerophagia. Etc. Etc. Caused by a chiropractor misdiagnosing me. She must have thought i had hatial hernia ( which i didn't) she used aggressive technique/ applied heavy force to move my organs down ( more details) causing major injury/ major complications/ edema etc. Etc.
I Have 90% ineffective Swallows and diagnosed me with IEM and I couldn’t get Nissen fundoplication because I wouldn’t be able to get food down. What other surgery can I get? I have dysphaiga symptoms with this and doc said I might have a variant of achalasia?
I'm having a barium test done on Thursday. Do they make you swallow a pill? I have a hard time swallowing already and pills I cant swallow I choke on them. Even small ones.
make sure to stay upright. do not lie down flat. the spasms can be so violent that they take your breath away too. it is quite miserable. i hope you are well now.😢
Hi Dr Anand can you please send me your email diagnosed with ineffective esophageal immotility but never given medications only relying on PPI and the pain is getting worse
what kind of medication is it? they have me taking nitroglycerin 3 times a day and each time gives me a 5-10 minutes window to eat and drink water. it scares me though and am interested if another drug works for you. i am not sure that i am a surgical candidate. was just dx and haven’t even met with a doctor yet. ☹️
Thank you so much dear doctor for this info/ video. We appreciate you!

Is a hiatal hernia an esophageal motility disorder?

to my unerstand barium is liquid
@@Intoxicatedmeta Yes, you are right. I have done this test and its liquid. Mine was in Pink color and nothing to worry for swallow.
for my barium swallow i swallowed thin barium, thick barium, water and a round tablet w/water.
I am so miserable, I cant breath all this because of me being allergic to wheat and shellfish
This might be due to silent microaspiration rather than allergy. I am also breathless due to dysmotility.
