Really liked all the photos but the ice in the footprint stood out to me the most. I'm learning to be aware of all my surroundings including below me. Good video Brian. This is Dave by the way.
Hey Dave, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Even just a year ago I probably would’ve walked right past this. I’ve learned to take a breath and be a bit more observant, and thankfully it paid off on this morning. Glad you liked it!
As freezing as it is with the snow it does make a beautiful sight for photos. Thanks for braving the weather to get us all these great shots. Can't wait for the next adventure.
That is a scenic landscape - I can imagine if you had some light onto those trees that would have made quite a difference, the sky looked very overcast. Good find with the ice texture shot.
Thanks Russ! The trees had a very slight orange glow on them, which was nice. But it would’ve been better to have some good color in the sky. Next time! Glad you liked this one 👍
Really beautiful shots Brian. The panos came out great 😁 interesting to hear your thought process in taking the shot. Loved the simplicity of the composition in 6:11 and the ice photo. Stunning work!
Such a beautifully gentle morning to be out with your camera Brian, that coupled with some really wonderfully peaceful imagery, was such an enjoyable watch... Great job 🙏🙏🙏
Really enjoyed the video, Brian. Happy to be seeing more from you! Gonna have to say the ice textures you found were my favorite. Looking forward to the next one!
Glorious weather Brian and beautifully captured panoramic images at the start - great details in the explanation of the woodland images with the story to be told betwixt old and new as well as gaining the optimal tree trunk separation. All good stuff in calming the chaos out there in the forest. Had to laugh at the intro for the fractal ice abstract too 😂 Very true indeed! Loved that image 🥶 Just catching up on your films while I’ve been off line and really enjoyed this one 👍🏻
Thanks Hugh! It's nice to be thawed out and reading your comment where it's warm. Glad you enjoyed this one, and I appreciate the feedback on the commentary. Sometimes it feels like I'm rambling to myself a bit out there!
Excellent video. I really like how you keep it simple! I just got a 5Dsr myself and your videos have been great references! I am very excited to get out and keep using it!
Thanks! If I know ahead of shooting that it'll be a high dynamic range scene like a sunset at the beach or over the mountains, then I'll set up the in-camera option. But it was pretty easy to just manually adjust for the exposures I was looking to get right: the snow in the foreground and the detail in the trees. The instant feedback alerts really help me to know if I need different exposures or not. Also, it's more important on the 5DSR than when I shoot on the R5 since it has lower overall DR. Glad you liked it!
Everything just looks epic at 65:24
even more so when the center column is extended 100%

Thanks Brian. At age 70 I'm enthusiastically entering and indulging into the world of photography. Your work is quite inspirational!
Thanks Keith! Best of luck starting out. Glad you enjoyed it!

That final shot of the ice was super cool! And you're right! Perfect for that 65:24 crop! Haha! Well done, and thanks for sharing!
Haha thanks man! Thankfully that panorama crop perfectly aligns with a human foot dimensions

That ice photo alone seems to me was worth the morning shoot. Great video, you are surrounded by some magnificent landscape and mountains.
Thanks Alex! It’s definitely a unique photo that I don’t have anything similar to, so I’m happy to have it. Almost walked right by! Thanks as always 👍
Always enjoying your explanatory videos and beautiful photography Brian. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Patrick! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Jared! Glad you liked that one too. Going to try to keep up the cadence a bit and not go MIA like last year 👍
Wonderful and inspiring. Thanks for sharing

Brian thanks for venturing out on a cold day to capture and share your work. Excellent step by step dialog of the process.

Just awesome.
Thanks!
I was in Boulder yesterday myself, grabbing some shots of the flatirons.
nice! It's a great spot to get out for sunrise.

Hahaha! Yeah it was a cold one. Thanks! 👍
@@brianbeattyphotography yeah its cold here ... but yours looks alot colder ... i do love after the long day returning to the warm house ...
Impressive presentation! Do you always manually bracket high dynamic range situations? Ever use bracketing in camera? Thanks for sharing!

And I thought I was the the only photographer left still using a cable release.
Haha no way!
Brian , how did y make 65:24?
In camera or in some software
I really wish that Canon had the 65:24 ratio as an option in camera! I did this one in Lightroom and have it as a saved preset aspect ratio.
❤❤👍👍👌👌😊😊
thank you!
