Airborne Ranger from 50 years ago here. The best soldier's knife is a Boy Scout style Swiss Army Pioneer. Anything larger is pretty much useless and just more weight to carry.
What a chucklefest of a list. Literally missing the OG KA-Bar. I have had mine for nearly 30 years. Still sharp, holds an edge and has never failed any task. Yeah it looks a little rough from use but probably the best all around knife I have ever owned.
i got my hopes up when i seen the original buckmaster 184 then i seen that nonsense that Buck is trying to call the new 2024 buckmaster, bring back the original design please
Chris Reeves knives, the Green Beret 👍 or the Pacific Green Beret. $ 375. Designed and engineered by Chris Reeve and William W. Harsey, Harsey CPM MagnaCut steel at 61-62 RC Steel's CPM S35VN stonewashed steel which was forged specifically for Chris Reeve Knives, Harsey, makes the Yarborough for Green Beret graduates. The Green Beret is by all accounts a virtual replica.
ontario usmc bayonet is all we need, a combat / utility knife that doubles as a bayonet, don't know why ontario company went under, they made some good quality blades and had govt contracts, the chimera looked like a good fighting knife too, discontinued now

resilience and ability to resharpen in the field are essential in addition to a geometry that works. Let's look at a D2 steel and let's look at steels like SR101 or A2.... certainly research into heat treatment is a must if you want to obtain a high-performance steel. D2 is certainly an excellent steel but difficult to sharpen in the field. A2 for example, as BarkRiver works with it, with the same hardness is much simpler to sharpen.
It would be nice if you learned to read..... it's Tops Apache Dawn, not Down. $800.00 dollars for a custom knife, maybe, but for a regular beat-the-CRAP out of knife..... crazy! 🙄
listen to me, Buck better go back to making the classic hunting models because these "combat survivable" models... they make my eyes bleed looking at them as well as having nonsense like spikes facing the user and holes on the part subject to greater stress for a knife 🤣🤣🤣
