    🧗Bob & Karri are 2 ordinary, 50 somethings that decided to sell everything and say goodbye to traditional living in favor of RV Life. They started making videos for friends and family and posting to TH-cam. After meeting several “TH-camrs” they were disgusted with what they were clued into. They now make videos to dispel all the nonsense and call out FAKE RV LIFE. They share honest advice and a clear love for the RV lifestyle, all with an underlying message that YOU can do this!

Last time they tried to put us a couple sites down from where you are and there was no way we were fitting out 46’ 5er in there. The first time we stayed over by the ball field on the grass sites and our site was huge.

    We love your innovative, yet costly Buletti/portable fridge snack solution. When we were shopping for our coach, we made sure we could access everything with the slides in for overnighting at rest areas, Walmarts, Cracker Barrels and such. The nice thing about traveling in a motorhome is you have full access to your living area when traveling down the road. This is especially important if you travel with pets, like we do.
    I guess you either like RV park life or you don't. We don't particularly enjoy being wedged into tight campsites, all lined up with other campers like sardines in a can like at that TT park. They did give you a larger than normal site though, which is nice. Great service will make or break any business, for sure. However, the beautiful state park site you stayed at in Florida is more our speed. As FTers, we avoid paying nightly rates, choosing monthly rates instead, or better yet, free boondocking spots. The more we can save on campsites the more we can spend on other things like fuel for traveling, eating out, etc. To put things into perspective, the $25/night you're paying now adds up to $9,125/year. That's over twice our annual fuel budget. I can see where TT will help keep your site costs down - after that big initial expense. We had a big initial expense on our solar system too, so can appreciate how spending money up front saves you down the road.
    Of course, we can't always find free boondocking spots on the East Coast, like we did last year in Yuma, AZ. This year we're wintering over in NC, visiting family, where boondocking places are rare, but found an RV park that is renting us a spacious no hook-up site for only $100/mo. Over 5,000 watts of solar and 23.5kwh of batteries lets us be electrically self-sufficient, so this works our great for us, as we don't mind using their dump station every 2-3 weeks to dump and fill to save money. If you think about it, it only takes about 1/2 hr. for us to dump, so spending an hour a month dumping and filling saves us $500/mo. off their normal $600 monthly rate. We're retired now, and have more time than money, but even at the peak of my career I never made $500/hr., how about you?
    We've never considered TT because of the advanced reservation requirements, as we like to be more spontaneous. Plus, the 2-3 week stay limits seem a bit restrictive. If we're going to stay in an RV park, we going to want to stay at least a month if not all winter. If we're boondocking for free outside a National Park or in a popular tourist area, then a 2 week stay limit is understandable, and we will be moving then anyway, having thoroughly explored the area. There are exceptions though. Last year we visited Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for the first time. There is so much to see there that we boondocked in the area for 6 weeks, just outside of the national parks, moving when required. Others might spend thousands to camp there for 6 weeks, but it didn't cost us a dime - just an occasional $10-$15 dump fee, and sometimes we found free dump and fill sites too, like at the Madison CG inside Yellowstone, thanks to our America the Beautiful pass granting us free NP admission.

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The thing to keep in mind about RV life is that everyone’s style is different. While a power station may seem expensive, it is more reasonable for those on a budget vs a solar setup.
      Same with park stays, we need the reliability of full hookups as we work full time - usually as long as we have that - park amenities are useless to us as we don’t use them- we are usually in an area for a specific attraction etc.
      That is the best part of this lifestyle- there is no wrong or right way to live it. There is no better way to live it other than the way that works for you.
      Safe travels

    • @SuperSushidog
      @SuperSushidog 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@liferedesigned Of course everyone's needs are different. If you're still working and not retired yet like we are, you will have different needs a lot more money to fulfill those needs. Before we went FT and were still working, living in our S&B home, our property tax and homeowner's insurance alone was more than our entire housing and fuel budget today - but we only have 1/3 the income we once had to meet our needs too.
      Portable power stations have their advantages and appeal to many as affordable turn-key power solutions. But I'm sure you'll agree that buying a portable power station just to power a portable fridge for goodies while on the road is an opulent lifestyle choice out of the range of most frugal FTers - that is unless it serves double duty when parked to run the appliances in your RV. A lot of van dwellers, small camper FTers and nomads of limited means do exactly that, to justify the expense - especially those expandable power stations that you can add an extra battery or two to as your power needs grow, like adding a B300 battery or two to an AC500 Buletti that would allow you to run an A/C or heat pump all night with power to spare. No criticism here. Depending on your circumstances, that may be a smart way to go. Everyone lives the way that best suits their needs at the time and we all evolve over time as our wants and needs change. I've enjoyed following you guys for 3-4 years since your Mini-Winnie days (we've been FT for 6 yrs now) and have enjoyed seeing your growth and lifestyle changes too. We're certainly not the same people who started FT RVing in Jan. 2019 either. Hope to see you down the road one day. Peace.

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      agree 100% - as for the power stations, as we have said in many videos including this one - we use them for tons of purposes including running our rig when boondocking and for powering our electric impact gun when we have had highway blowouts.

      Our understanding is that the portion of Pirateland that is being converted to TT will take a couple of years before it is included in the packages. That being said, it could change quite a bit for us for when we see the kids - we are excited about that as RV park rates in the area are getting out of control!

      Exactly. We used to stay 2 weeks at a time at the state park when it was affordable. Now we stay at Koa in a cabin for same price as a site.
      We were looking into an annual site at piratelalnd. Then got email they were in process of dividing up the campground and the portion we were to lease was being sold. Things happen in for a reason. Looks like now we'll be staying either in Holden Beach NC. Or Port St Joe FL

    Have never been a fan of these places, kinda like a time share.

      That is exactly what it is. How many of the type of places have you stayed at?

    Thousand Trails need new business model. Need a lower entry price and then pay 10-30 dollars per night to camp, so Resorts have some reason to treat you better. Right now, Campgrounds get 0 more $s and have 0 incentive to treat you good.

      A better way to look at it is they need better clients. Staff have never treated us bad. People who stay in the parks often need to chill out and feel less entitled.

      @@liferedesigned Still my experience is a company doesn't have the motivation to give you service when they are not getting anymore money from you. Competition for your dollars drives good service. Like getting worst spots. plus a lot of the campgrounds out side of popular areas are run down. Not full time but retired.

      We would actually counter point this with they need to RAISE prices on the entry point as well as charge a fee per night. Raising prices would increase capital and allow for upgrades. Not to mention a shift in client class that would stop these places from further becoming a cheaper version of trailer parks. I believe you are seeing the start of that now as they have officially done away with lifetime memberships and have shifted to a 2 or 4 year subscription model.
      As for parks being run down -you have to ask yourself why that is, when you REALLY look at it, it is simply due to the people having no respect for the properties. Look closely at even the best parks, RV's driving with stairs down digging up pads, Inexperienced RV owners driving on new grass digging it up - trash left everywhere etc. This is the current clientele doing this - NOT the parks.

      @@liferedesigned The large one time fee is like kind of like a pyramid scheme. With the members who paid less a longer time ago get the benefits of newer members paying more and works until there aren't enough new members to support the older members who are no longer paying (contributing) into the membership. Then campgrounds start cutting back on services and maintenance.

      Exactly, which is why we 100% support the NEW subscription models and assigned sites model. It is time to turn these places back in RV parks instead of low rent semi trailer parks.

      Free content is expensive, if there were no sponsors - there would be no TH-cam. At least we give honest reviews of products we actually use. Other channels shill every product they can in every video.
