    Inside the buckle , it should say “Made in France “ NOT Italy . But they might changed it because I bought my Hermès belt 8 years ago . My and the strap buckle still look brand new even though I used to wear it a lot . On the strap the one straight and the other side shaped up meaning it’s Unisex strap . The men strap on both side is shaped up . My belt one side is straight and the other side is shaped like yours . I start back wearing my Hermès belt more and more because, there is no belt that can complete my outfit like Hermès belt ! I ordered more strap colors from Hermès two days ago so I can have different colors . My buckle is still in a excellent condition even after 8 years , but there is one scratch on the side I contacted Hermès store in Miami they asked me to bring it in and they will send it to France to get refurbished for only $190.00 . The lady told me it will come back as brand new !

    Thank you gorgeous. Enjoyed this video. I am sure you get this a lot but Amy Winehouse anyone?? Okay, so as a former Selling Supervisor, I wanted to offer some answers to @Nathan Lewis’ and CWfrankesq’s questions down below. Depending on the year your belt buckle was made, yes the back of the buckle can say, “made in France” in all caps and below that is a “serial number”, 2 letters and four numbers. Another thing is, if you bought a USED belt strap from any one of the varied reputable reseller like the one Parmida mentioned, then there is a possibility that (At 11:46) that your used authentic belt may indeed have five holes because Hermes will add two more holes if needed. This allows the preference to wear it on your hips or at your waist. I do recall a particular instance where a regular client came in with an old belt that needed one more hole added, for a total of six, due to weight change and they were told absolutely not (by another associate at another location). Which, if they haven’t changed their policy, that was correct information he was given at the time. While making another purchase from us (and as mentioned, a frequent client of our location) he continued to explain the weight change and the need for an extra hole. Fully aware they could have gone to a shoe cobbler or leather repair shop to get the extra hole, they explained they wanted to keep “the belt fully authentic and only have Hermes make the necessary hole. We made the decision to provide that service as a courtesy, so the belt had six holes. If you find a used belt with five or six holes on a reputable resell website, that doesn’t automatically means it’s fake but, even if authentic, that won’t necessarily mean all the extra holes were made at Hermes. CWfrankesq, although Hermes does not authentic a belt for you that you purchased elsewhere, here is a cheat secret, that is not such a big cheat secret after all and works for OTHER high end stores as well. If you brought a particular item in question to have it “repaired” and wanted to inquire about the cost and how long it would take for said “repair”, then if they gave you an estimate for time and cost of repair and told you they were sending it back to Paris or wherever, then you know that it is an authentic item because otherwise they would not offer to service a fake item. At another Designer house I worked for, people brought in stuff all the time to get them “repaired” or send off to purse spa. We would give them a quote, client left knowing it was authentic, and most often then not, they would get it sent out for necessary repairs because even with the cost of repair and what they paid for it second hand, it was still a great deal and cheaper than buying a new one. One major designer house here in Japan, that everyone seems to own at least one of their monogrammed items, had a different policy than their USA locations. In their USA locations, if someone brought an item that was not authentic to get repaired, we were instructed to politely inform the client that their item could not be repaired or serviced as “we only stand by and repair authentic (input designer name here) items here. At that point, the client knew the second hand item they bought online was fake but they kinda already knew that. Here in Japan, the policy was a bit different (not sure if it has changed) we were instructed to politely inform the client that since we only stand by and service our authentic (insert name here) items, we will need to confiscate this item as they were in possession of an item that was infringing on the trademark and (insert name here) and Japan have zero tolerance for non authentic items. One customer broke down and claimed they innocently purchased this item online in good faith that it was a used authentic item. After a bit of a little further “investigating” and client openly and willingly provided documents, it did seem that the client was indeed innocent and unknowingly scammed by the second hand online reseller, so we did assist them (somewhat) to receive a refund from seller. Sorry this was so long, but I hope it helped and finally, at 12:30-12:32 point in the video, only applies to the “older” belt straps because the new 2020 collection just dropped and they introduced the new “unisex” line where both ends are more like the left side she is holding at 12:34, and they did away with the “straight” side you see on the right side at 12:48. 🥳 Happy New Year 2020

    I recently broke one of my only thrift rules: verify before you buy. Finding designer items secondhand is not out of the realm of possibility in my area. I've found a vintage 90s YSL envelope bag for $5 before or a Bosca passport wallet for $3. So when I saw an Hermes belt, I grabbed it. I found it was modeled after the Etriviere belt, but one of the "Hermes" is missing the accent, there's no sizing, it only has one keeper, and they stamped the full horse and coachman on it which I can't find on any item ever produced. The coachman is reaching out and touching the horse and the horse's booty looks flat. So instead of releasing it back out to the wild, I'll break down the leather for small projects like watch straps or bracelets and harvest the buckle for a new belt.
    TL;DR: gambled on a thrift belt, got burned. Plan to harvest belt for parts rather than releasing it back out into the wild.

      Thanks for watching! 🌸 I know, I’ve known people who paid thousands and thousands of dollars on fake birkin bags. The problem with local consignment shops are that they don’t get well trained and lots of fake items go out of the store. 😢

      I’m a buyer at a luxury consignment boutique. I only authenticate items if I take them for consignment. Unfortunately, I don’t have the way to do it online beside just sharing my knowledge through videos. I hope this video will help you to authenticate your belt.

    But the original can also get scrached over time

    • @Parmsi
      @Parmsi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is completely true. However, the finish of the buckles make a big difference too. For example, if the buckle style is the smooth Matte finish, it’s more likely to get scratched up faster overtime. The buckle I’m showing here, tends to get way less scratched up. From, handling and authenticating so many belts at my job, I feel like the fake ones get scratched way more easily than the real ones. Thanks so much for watching, means a lot! 🥰

    I have a real Hermes belt, and after 4 years of use the buckle is scratched hear and there (after dropping it a few times over the years and other wear and tear). Scratches on metal are a sign of wear not of authenticity.

    • @Parmsi
      @Parmsi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are completely right, wear and tear happens with the use. However, you shouldn’t find any scratch when you buy a brand new belt
